  1. One of my mates came over while I was on a mission. He was pretty intrigued when he saw my Thrustmaster Warthog and pulled up a chair. "Hawg 3-1, Magic, BRAA, pop-up group, 283 for 8 at 13 thousand, flanking." "Wait, what did that mean?" "Uhm... Bearing Range Altitude Attitude for a group of air targets" "Gonna shoot them down?" "Eh, no I'm on a mission" Checked in with a JTAC and got served a nice 9-Line. He just sat there like a question marker. I doubt we'll be seeing much of him :D
  2. 32 bit Steam isn't compatible with a 64 bit application like DCS and the way the developers made it work was to have Steam open a batch file that points to the .exe of the sim and closes. After that point Steam isn't involved and as far as it's concerned the program only ran for a couple thousand CPU cycles. The basic incompatability means that there will never be logged playtime, Steam overlay or achievements. Also: One Armed Bandit Take-off with one engine Be Right Back Land, shut down, startup and takeoff on a farm road during a military conflict Need A New Pacemaker? Drop 4 BDU-50HD next to an enemy vehicle. Bullseye! Take out a enemy vehicle using the cannon at 30000 AGL Cowboy 10 cannon kills with the IFFCC set to OFF Silence!! Check in with a JTAC and bomb him as he reads you the 9-Line So Real! Orbit somewhere for two hours then return to base. Oh That Bastard Come in hot with two failed engines and be denied landing by the ATC Double Trouble Drop a pair of MK-84s on one enemy infantry
  3. I do it on purpose :)
  4. Depends on the software. Sometimes it's the other way around. DCS is mostly hindered by CPU, I believe, due to the sheer scale of what needs to be rendered and computed. Fancy details up close = GPU, Basic graphics on a grand scale = CPU. Merging the two =:smoke:
  5. I think the ATC has a very good point. If you managed to fly from the engagement zone with half a plane, possibly passing other closer airbases on the way, then surely you can wait a little bit for the traffic to clear. Oh you're gliding around with no engines on manual reversion flight? I don't care. You will orbit at 12 thousand and that's that.
  6. Kind of inconsistent hit rate in the sim. A week ago I did a mission dropped some CBU105 onto stationary tanks. Nothing. Between me and my wingman we dropped a total of 6 CBU-105 (read: 60 BLU-108 x 4 skeets = 240 submunitions) with zero results. Just replayed that same mission and got a 100% kill rate on everything within a very large radius of the drop. It's amazing to see that thing at work but can anyone tell me what might have happened at the previous try? Same altitude, same weather, same tanks.
  7. Clouds have a very large impact on IR sensors as the vapour absorbs the IR radiation :) And from that day forwards; minds were blown and cigars were smoked :matrix:
  8. Interesting. I've always used Daemon tools. Glad I never paid for it by the sound of it. Exceptions added to PeerBlock list :)
  9. Upping the anty a bit with a 400 knot touchdown. Starting to get close to something good, third try I only lost part of the tail. 4th ones the charm, I only slightly hammered the landing gear which made them slowly collapse under the weight of the plane, bounce the airplane around like a... bouncing warthog, and sent it dancing around like a burning ballerina. But I survived, damnit! What really cracked me up was after THAT spectacular crash the ground crew witnessed it all and went "Oh crap. Well, get another plane out for him boys!" :megalol: 1st try.trk 2nd try.trk 3rd try.trk 4th try - minor success.trk
  10. Two tries, two landings. I was planning on setting it down at 350 knots at the heavy one but the wheels gave too much drag. Gigantic OH SHI- moment at the heavy one  Check out the thread I made earlier, that stuff was nearly impossible. The night landing took me a good 20 tries, would make for a good competition. 280 knots heavy landing.trk 280 knots light landing.trk
  11. Pft, you'll want to do it like this.
  12. APM is a way of measuring how much control you have over a game, where you've memorized ALL the keyboard commands and use "micro". For more insight into gaming culture check out the mockumentary Pure Pwnage original series, Jeremy has some very good insight into "Ubermicro" http://www.purepwnage.com/original_series/video/life-pro-gamer
  13. The human eye is 130 megapixels and you have two of those so if you become a pilot in real life this really becomes a non-issue and you are not thinking at all to use simulations.
  14. So how did you celebrate your billionth second? :holiday:
  15. I send in CAP and SEAD first and climb to 15000 while they do their part. Once the scope is clear I start progressing the mission waypoints and check in with the JTAC. When I'm out of munitions I call in any other CAS groups available.
  16. A UAV like the Predator. I want to sit hour after hour after hour doing BDA.
  17. Brilliant :D Does it fly?
  18. I got the Revodrive X2 for a nice wad of cash. It's equivalent to putting 16 15GB SSD's in raid 0, insane performance.

    Hi all

    Velkommen, windh :)
  20. Welcome :) Sorry to hear you're having problems, have you updated the drivers for graphics and soundcard recently? Navigate to C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Temp\DCS Warthog\ There should be a .crash file, it would help the support team if you attached this file to a post along with a DxDiag information text.
  21. Enjoy this small cooking show from Sweden, this episode showing how to make pancakes.
  22. Yes. Yes, there is.
  23. Got a bunch :D Need to grab on good when the train accelerates
  24. Cześć :D And welcome :) Start-up and navigation is a good place to start, also try any of the free flight missions with different loadouts to get the basic feel of the plane at various weights. How much you can ignore the stall warnings at various G's and maneuvers like split S or sideslipping. It's a very different plane to fly compared to fighters. Happy flying
  25. Wind corrections in the CDU are more useful for unguided bombs.
