Virtual Patriots - L-39 External Test In DCS World
WildFire replied to Blaze's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
f'ing aircraft coming out of the WOODWORK!! Seriously all this new addition stuff. This simulator is going to melt my cpu with all these different aircraft flying around. And driving tanks.. I must be dreaming only two years ago I thought a flight sim of this caliber would never appear and here it is. Stoked. Good luck on this. -
Im gonna agree with the one that said he didnt feel like it was flying. When I flew any falcon title it did feel pretty arcad-y... Honestly The graphics here are so leaps and bounds ahead.... When you look out the F-16 window you see pixels and bright and dull palette colors and stuff... When you look out the window in dcs you see a mix of colors (all different depending on season) and a high definition blinding sun, real clouds and no pixels anywhere. DCS is so close to feeling like your actual flying that looking back at falcon is very hard to do.

Your right and I knew it, I was just trying to put up a decent fight. Im done, we totally hijacked this thread. Sorry. Still want a damn radar though. You may take my hopes but you'll never take my reckless demands!
-
I wonder if thats the way they are there. I dont understand the invisible part. Standing in the arizona desert you can see power lines and towers for MILES AND MILES AND MILES.... Never thought to look at them while I was in the air..
-
If you successfully defend against said bandit and return to frag your not missing anything unless you were pretty much saving a bunch of marines CAS style (obviously a primary task). There have been plenty of planes in history that have had to engage in ACM even though they were not primarily designed to. And often they succeeded quite well in doing so. So in the spirit of this ideal where you shouldnt be doing A2A, but doesnt mean necessarily you wont need to I'd like a damn radar. The harrier is not totally weak and destined to die, its not a Sopwith. Im thinking you meant kinetic advantages (as in energy, and we know E is everything) although kinematics could possibly apply. I wouldnt be doing any kinematics in the cockpit though... :D

I was wondering when someone was going to say that.
-
I can always go back to base and re-arm. Not really a possibility if I get shot down. Id gladly trade one or two pylons. I dont see why if you have an awacs that you couldnt defend yourself while doing A2G. Right now in the A-10 if I havent found the bandit by the time AWACs tells me i've merged, its already over. Of course usually never make it that far... stupid radar guided missiles.
-
Problems fixed buddy. Short answer: Im retarded. Thanks anyway though.
-
Going with my gut here but I'll have no choice but to buy the harrier. Its a damn nice plane considering what it was designed to do. However, please make one of the versions with radar, vixen or apg, no matter, just make sure it can defend itself. By the time this becomes reality there will be other planes in the air and this platform will need a means to defend itself. Having escorts is preferable but its not always the case. And flying A-10 for so long has really given me a respect for how absolutely helpless you are up there with no radar. Especially if an enemy zooms right passed in supersonic and shoot down my AWAC cause they do HAVE radar. Then were really f'ed.

Anyhow I just figured I'd ask. I thought maybe they'd be interested. Guess not... Well I see where this went. Its kind of an unfair advantage cause if im not mistaken the DCS engine is much more recent than the falcon engine? ED has a ridiculous team and to be able to sift through god knows how much data and create an AFM for BS or A-10 in only a few years says a lot. Im sure the boys at BMS are quite talented but honestly they didnt build falcon from scratch. It was built for them. They only had to improve upon a framework and for sure reprogrammed the whole thing. Also BMS did some cool stuff with terrain, explosions lot of graphics updates, models and all that again improving upon an existing framework. DCS made FC1, FC2, DCS:BS, DCS:A-10C, and soon DCS:CA, DCS:FM, FC3 and some day Nevada.... Plus a holy bejesus amount of patching that I doubt I'll ever see matched by any company ever, all happening while they are pushing products. Plus all their ground models look damn good stock, the weather engine is tops, the night day scale is hot shit and the terrain changes per season all rock. So yeah BMS has done some cool stuff. But holding a candle to ED just wouldnt fare. These folks do it all, and they dont half ass anything(You wont get a super bugged release of civilizations here). Obviously if DCS were to produce an AFM F-16 you could guarantee it would blow the socks off whatever falcon brings. Its not even fair, there are some pretty talented people at ED. All in my opinion and the point of this is not to flame anyone its just to point out how even entering a debate about the comparison and contrast of these two is redundantly ridiculous.
-
Surprised I havent seen them mentioned yet. As for all the third parties jumping on board I would think Benchmark Studios would have come up... They did quite a job reinvigorating the falcon field, and they know some radar stuff... Seems like a lot of people want an F-16 in here too. You would think that might be helpful to ED, although I doubt at all they would need it. I'd still take an DCS F-16 over anyone.
-
Yep, I didnt think a visibility thing would affect it so I kept throwing it on as soon as I installed. It was my own stupidity of course. Went through and modified the lua's and it works fine. Turns out since the folder structure changed and they added 'particle effects' it wasnt being called inside a config file which was supposed to be used only for A-10C. Go figure der. For anyone else having this issue, see here (post #94): http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1479375#post1479375

Two re-installs, followed by newly downloaded dcs world and aircraft modules, then reinstall, same issue. I guess this means for some people it is in fact working or I'll have to assume it is. Is not the first time a problem has persisted through multiple installs.
-
I think this is the only thing Wags has said that I firmly went with.... -1
-
Thanks. Yes the files are in particle effects, I verified all the related files and even took a look at the lau's that call the textures to make sure they were all addressed right. As a last option I have thought about putting the two missing textures in the temp texture folder to see if that works. Really all I want to know is if everyone is having a problem with smoke or if this is only certain systems? Build a simple mission blow up a single vehicle, zoom on smoke and see what you get. If its a localized problem I can then beginning troubleshooting on my end to find the problem.
-
Yeah they do know how to use it. You have to. I've never been able to lock a 65D farther than its limits and most of the time 7.6~7.4 is about the only time it will. I also have seen it miss by meters. Not very often mind you but it has happened. I can only think of two reasons, wind problems affecting the flight model, or somehow ED modelled acceptable failure chances. I doubt the second one cause they would need solid evidence of mav's missing and that data AFAIK isnt available, or so its been said. But yeah very occasionally they do miss.
-
Is anyone going to come around and say if this is a bug or a localized problem?
-
Cant quite help much as you need screenshots or a track file. If you dont help us we cant help you. But upon first thought I think if its some kind of graphics corruptions issue try control+alt+delete and hit cancel. Opening and closing the control panel will dump and reload your graphics memory hopefully clearing any artifacts or other problems. If it doesnt do a quick mission and save us a track file.

Missing texture tested both on tank and transport. Tested with most recent nvidia drivers, however rolled back and tested on previous drivers. My directX reflects the old drivers. Fresh install last night and tested. This afternoon re-downloaded dcs world + P-51 +A-10 modules and full install. DxDiag.txt dcslog.txt melog.txt MissingTex.trk HawgIntro.miz

Will the beta be compatible with A-10C and BS2?
WildFire replied to Kaiza's topic in DCS: Combined Arms
P-51 is a beta, and I think DCS:World is too. But you can fly the blackshark, P-51 or A-10 in world. Sniped* -
Yeah I tried two reinstalls yesterday, going to download AGAIN.... But I am also getting the missing texture. At first I thought it was a mod but I replaced the originals back in and I was still getting missing textures. Would like to know if this is verified WORKING to anyone or if its just a texture or some deal forgotten about in the beta. 00128.641 ERROR DXRENDERER: DXDefTexture: failed to open file dcsfiretex.png 00128.645 ERROR DXRENDERER: DXDefTexture: failed to open file smokenormanim.png

Said it before but I'll say it again just cause everything else seems asked for.... Localized fog.
