unfortunately no:megalol: , but on a brighter note, once you have tried it you won't give a dam what its called or what other say, its pure brilliance. has to be one of, if not my most favorite enhancement for simming full stop. i could go on about it for ages but that enough for now. TOUCH-BUDDY, its a credit to the creator and his loyal helpers, big thumbs up lads.

sorry if i get this wrong leafer but in reference to DCS BS, are you refering to abris as mfp? i get somewhat confused with these acronyms if so, touchbuddy can have designated see thru areas, so if you could export the abris you could also add buttons around it etc. the possibilities are mind blowing to say the least :D and yes some names do have some undesirable connotations, need we mention the flak i receive for hanging out a the TB forum from my computer illiterate friends :D they call forums chat rooms, need i say more....

triggerhappy69: was just thinking about TB myself as my good friend watched the startup vid and was instantly horrified at just the start procedure :) a touchbuddy button for startup (if required or wanted naturally) would be nice. ps: love the pedals, and the hall sensor idea has to be better than killing pots. yellonet: i think you have the basics covered there, i would like to think eventually: TrackIR HOTAS Rudder pedals projector/s or large monitor or 3 th2go touchscreens with TB and full cockpit profile export of instruments to other monitors please mnemonic :) export of abris and shival (sorry unsure the name exactly) and a new pc. and my idea for the flight stick is to extend the shaft and mount the base under the front of the chair, this would improve things alot compared to deskmount or base in the way of legs etc, have you seen the base size of the fx force :D, needs converting to usb but also not a problem thanks to snomf. (fellow left hander, inventor of the left handed conversion for ch gear.) just finished an stainless/polycarbonate 8 slot gearbox (7speed and reverse) for my online racing so this stick mod will be a piece of cake. i am sure most of us have the skills to do such mods, like simply extending the shaft, (no jokes please :D) join some wires etc. keep the ideas coming and you better get busy, hate to be stuck flying the shark or a horizontal throttle... either that or talk to Urze, good one mate.

quite fascinating really, had not seen this before, forgive my ignorance. definately seems like something you don't want :) o/t: took my 8yo son for a chopper flight around Mt Panorama this year while watching the bathurst v8supercars, was pretty cool. it was a jet ranger i thought, but the pilot informed me it was a 406, very similar, more powerful etc. the young fella was quite reluctant at first but the second it left the ground the look of excitement on his face was priceless, i too enjoyed it immensely. glad the 406 didn't have one of these blade snapping death wobbles:thumbup:

this is dam good news for wide screen or th2go users. if its in the GUI then it should definately not be a problem remembering the aspect ratio you set, yippee. set and forget... Wags: while on the topic of aspect ratio etc. can you expand a little on the issue of old with the overdraw when zoomed out, hope you know what i mean. basically i think it was still rendering the unseen area & killing performance? this was something i am really hoping is sorted, please advise for the th2go users, thanks.

really enjoyed the new startup vid, see how the gauges did a self check thing, wow. 6dof looks so smooth, better than i have ever seen. so many buttons and switches , like even when you turn around, hadn't seen that before :) well done on the vid, look forward to more. they will make an ideal learning tool since most of us will be ka-50 virgins. it just keeps getting better and better:thumbup:

maybe its own forum :D

if you haven't had a chance to see the work going on you must endeavor to do so. i won't go right into it but there are for example: new ground pounder textures, ground crews and the work being done on the airbases is truly a thing beauty. well done to all involved, taking lockon to a new level:thumbup: and quite frankly, heres to all those great community members creating mods, models, skins, missions, GUI's, hosting sites and servers, running squadrons, developing software like loman, tacview, lovp, touch-buddy etc etc. raise your glasses people...

found it eventually, thanks Rich, grabbing the big one and she's coming across at 330K, you beauty. Rich, your site is absolutely packed with a wealth of info for the total novice to the veteran, a most impressive collection of educational movies and tutorials, never knew what i was missing, will be hammering your server for a while :)

how the hell can one claim another's work as their own, its beyond my comprehension, i would be outright embarrassed to do such a thing, actually i couldn't do it at all. have these people no self respect, no dignity, its got me baffled. soon i will release my new movie "speed 2", should be awesome hey GA:thumbup:

awesome video, are you guys right clicking that wink? :megalol:

8800 rendering issues in lockon: are they resolved yet or are we still turning shadows to planar etc. after much procrastinationm i finally went for it just got myself a 680i sli m/b and am intersted to see if these issues are sorted in the latest drivers, last i recall it was still a problem with strange white edges on planes and weird shadow issues. looking @ 2x 8800gtx to power my th2go, and probably just stick with 2gig ddr2 as i have read many have probs with 4gig, especially 4x1gig sticks, having to reduce speeds from 800 to 667m so for now 2gig it is. so 2gig ddr2 with a nice 6850 c2d, and a couple of 8800gtx's, thats the plan, along with a 1kw or there abouts psu. before i get assaulted, the system is not solely for lockon, and the sli is desirable to power the big th2go res of 3840x1024 :) sick of running everything at a compromise graphically. so please advise me on sli settings like afr, best drivers for lockon etc, and any other tricks or helpful tips you can think of, cheers.

Grimes, i like your way of thinking.

c'mon wags, don't let the 'i want it yesterdays' get you down. how do you think i feel, my keyboard has no 'w' key and this post is full of them. look forward to the new video whenever it arrives, and please do keep us informed as much as possible, the last few weeks have been great in that respect, keep up the good work.

Is Portrait Mode possible in LockOn
G3 replied to strikeout's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
no problem, yes its an under used section but handy too :) i have received plenty of help from others, its always nice to give some back. should be pretty cool actually. good luck with it. nice link too, never seen that one myself. http://simmod.pbwiki.com/ below is an extract: DisplayMode { resolution = {1920, 1200}; ------------------------------ Resolution that is used in pixels width x height bpp = 32; ------------------------------ Colour depth 16 or 32 bit fullscreen = 1; ------------------------------ Windowed or Fullscreen mode 0= Windowed 1= Fullscreen aspect = 1.333333373; ------------------------------ Screen aspect ratio 1.3 = a standard resolution type of 1024 x 768 for example. Widescreen resolutions such as 1920 x 1200 shown require 1.6 inserted to work correctly. FC resets these values every time a change is made Interface ------------------------------ Part of the simulation that uses these settings below this contained in the {} (curly braces) { resolution = {1920, 1200}; bpp = 32; fullscreen = 1; aspect = 1.333333373; } Simulation { resolution = {1920, 1200}; bpp = 32; fullscreen = 1; aspect = 1.333333373; in here its the display mode/simulation settings that change the actual in cockpit settings. basically i just make all three the same to keep it simple. and be sure not to edit the graphics settings in game after you make the changes or it will default back to standard. -

Is Portrait Mode possible in LockOn
G3 replied to strikeout's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
i am under the impression you will be able to achieve what you desire, i have stacked monitors vertically with a degree of success other than the extreme top and bottom did not like it with large fov, causing visual weirdness :) firstly, swivel the monitor in windows and set the res in display props etc. then by editing the lockon graphics.cfg fie: i see no reason why you cannot then manually enter the desired resolution, and match that with the appropriate aspect ratio. then change your ingame zoom setting to make it look normal again. from my experience anything greater than fov=175 causes game issues. great idea you have, always thought that the vertical view was just as important as the horizontal, especially looking up in dogfight :) hope this helps, please revise my threads on 'th2go zoom issues' and you may get some further info there, good luck with it. -
dome projection with spherical correction of some sort, i was under the impression this was only available for opengl but i did see some references there to directx , after checking out that link from TekaTeka, so that sounds promising. after having the th2go i think these domes have some serious potential for virtual pilots. superkungfu: thanks for the report, sounds like you enjoyed it immensely. i too want to here more about the dome, was it convincing, in perspective, did it stretch the outer areas at all like the th2go seems to? good to see innovations such as these, please also name the game you saw on the dome, cheers.

it would be somewhat of a pity if the release of DCS isnt complimented by some sort of heli-hotas-collective-cyclic joystick like the mods made by one of our members Urze. http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=20175&highlight=hotas now not everyone is into modding hardware due to 'availability or ability',:music_whistling: whatever the reason. :megalol: (see the difference, to no 'avail' :) ) i just thought maybe someone like CH might have delivered a throttle option as a seperate usb device to expand your existing hotas. can't see using the normal horizontal throttle being of much use in the heli's, those who have tried it please share your thoughts on this. also the stick might need like an extension for the handle to allow the joystick base to sit below the seat and between you legs, a bracket from the seat base, that would be nice... i have no doubt with the coming release of DCS we will see some terrific peripheral creations...

now i understand the saying: once you've had black you can't go back :D looking forward to more reviews and screenshots. i need those reports on my desk in the morning :D

A plea for proper FOV adjustment for triplehead displays
G3 replied to Joe's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
and i second that second :) hey joe, what you doin with that th2go in your hand :) seriously now, i am totally behind you on this one and i hope that the issues with the th2go ultra wide resolution will be overcome in DCS, if not initially then when the core game gets a face lift. i think Teka Teka understands the issues with the overdraw, or whatever its called, we discussed this together previously, perhaps he may be kind enough to put this question to ED far better than i could, he seems very knowledgable on these things. but the point is i totally agree this must be resolved if possible, good one Joe:thumbup: here is a cut n paste from a post by tekateka about the issue: I did some research on this problem and found there seem to be a miscalculation of the drawn area in the code. If the aspect ratio becomes larger, the drawn area becomes smaller than the one supposed to be. If the aspect ratio goes smaller, the drawn area goes larger. You can compensate this by offset the zoom angle, but it causes other problems. The most serious one is the amount of the graphic calculations. The calculations will be done according to the offset zoom angle, not to the drawn area. If your aspect ratio is very large, the graphic calculations for the outside of the actual drawn area will be tremendous and you will get very poor framerates to gain a decent view angle. The another problem is the restriction of the view rotations (you already encountered). You can compensate this by enlarging the angle limits in \Config\View\server.lua, but the downward limits at the both sides will be remained because they are hardcoded and you can not do the compensation in online plays because you will be forced to use the server's server.lua. Anyway, here are things you can do right now. 1. Increase CameraViewAngleLimits numbers in \Config\View\view.lua. (You already did.) 2. If you use the TrackIR zoom, the default zoom angle will be the average of the first and second numbers of CameraViewAngleLimits. So, increase the first numbers, too. 3. If you don't use the TrackIR zoom, the default zoom angle can be set in \Config\View\snapviews.lua. See here for details. 4. Increase CameraAngleLimits numbers in \Config\View\server.lua. I think this problem is caused by very simple error of the function and hope fixed in 1.2. But there are many simple defects still left remained in LockOn, so do not expect too much. __________________ TekaTeka from Japan the whole thread can be viewed here: http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=17306
