heli chair with collective and 7-speed usb gearbox
G3 replied to G3's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
thanks for the kind words guys leafer: no i am not the welder, i let my mate do that part, he does it all day, horses for courses and i can't weld :) i did all the design and fabrication apart from the welding. the collective and gearbox were only designed on the go, neither were meant to be the final product but they both turned pretty sweet. urze: a bypass is easy, the plug i used can disconnect the original throttle when you plug in the lead to your external device of choice:thumbup: nordic: definitely going to add a button box of some sort, i have been hunting for pics of the end of the handle but not much luck, i saw it in the new startup video but i want some good pics to reference. i left some length on the counterweight end of the shaft to eventually allow for the weight of the button box. have been flying heli's in fsx for practice, its been said before but god help us when its time to fly and fight :D also just like to say a big thumbs up to bob church from CH-products forum for some technical assistance. -
heli chair with collective and 7-speed usb gearbox

switch mechs close up in neutral close up switch mechs in 6th, top cam over centre to the rear. the gearbox is rock solid and shifts perfectly, tough as, feels right, wants to go back to neutral, and locks itself into gear, the collective makes flying a heli so much better. overall i am happy with the chair for now, hope you enjoyed my show and tell, ggg -

been busy this week and put together my new heli chair, with collective and adjustable tray for the stick. also i will show a few pics of my rfactor gearbox i made recently. the collective connects via a removable lead to the wires that used to go to the sllider wheel on the usb combatstick 586, check it out. the chair naked stick and collective mounted only side on pic i got of actual collective adjustable tray for stick, with pitch, yaw and altitude control, but no roll more to come...

that would be it, waiting patiently, and quietly:music_whistling: i wouldn't say dead WBK (how you going mate), more of a coma of sorts. and i am sure a 1.13 patch would be just the thing to bring it back to life:thumbup:

triggerhappy69: wicked stick mod. love the extended shaft, i want to do the same to my ch combatstick ready for bs. and the hall sensors, trouble free, spike free, o maintenance, i love it
-
good old computer hardware, best time to sell is yesterday, best time to buy is tomorrow :) indeed this is true, but if you wait, then you wait and wait. if you upgrade now, you can upgrade again if need be. all depends on your funds and when bs is to be released, and if you know that then i also need next weeks lotto numbers. :)

arhhh the old gt ffb, i am still using one of these, quality unit as the pedals are still spike free after years of driving and also using them as flight yaw pedals. i think its fairly safe to say that dcs bs will be supporting mulitiple input devices, and hopefully it doesn't automatically fill each new device/axis with a command, as i always thought it was a chore to go thru and delete all the unused mapped axis and buttons etc. hint hint ed :)

great clips guys, not sure the names but those massive tubes vertical off the back of the truck, wicked, watching the missiles jump out and then fire up, wouldn't like to be on the end of any of the launches, and the tunguskas vid, bloody hell see the rounds pumping thru and the shells spitting out, awesome.

amazing panel gentlemen, very professional. inspiring.

bit sad for my beloved eagle, at least the pilot was sweet, injured but ok:thumbup: almost 30 yo, hard to believe, time fly's pardon the pun.

i am somewhat surprised by the amount of pilots among us that either dont have pedals or use stick or even x45 rocker switch (bgp) :) yaw control on the stick just complicates the movement of other axis, digital input is way to notchy, your feet are there bored looking for something to do, for gods sake get them a set of pedals :) i currently use my racing pedals, so no toe brake and they don't push each other the opposite direction but i find it works well enough. never have understood why those ch pedals are so dam close together, they could do with being twice the width. haven't seem the saitek pedals, edit now i have :), they look hideous, and they have some new gear, yokes and quadrants and the x52 pro looks cool. unless the ch pedals are easily modded, i will be making some custom ones with the distance between feet of around 300-400mm. i'd suggest first get a hotas, then pedals, the trackir. (save the best for last) xmas is coming kids, so drop some hints to your oldies or other half for us married folks, or simply just blow the xmas bonus on yourself this year, i am :D, some of it anyway.

nice one ditcher, will be handy for mapping and learning the ka50 with CH gear. i see you have a multimode, i have never used extra software just plugged in the stick and went for it, am i missing out there, looks like you can map 3 functions per button?
-
started building a collective for the ka50 and i am interested in the range of motion from fully down to fully up, preferably in degrees with a reference to the fully down angle to get an idea of the real range of movement. when fully down is it completely horizontal or below and how many degrees of motion from full down to full up. at present i have it as horizontal when down and approx 30' angle at full up from the horizontal similar to this image below. approx dimensions so far: s_b = 400mm b_e = 180mm also looking for good shots of the grip end with buttons etc, side views also would be nice. want to make a replica or at least close enough. thanks for looking and extra thanks if you have the info.

anyone have time to help a noob at lockon
G3 replied to migalito's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
had alook at the in pursuit, the book of noob preview, rather amusing.:smilewink: and the actual in pursuit pdf looks full of good info. -
to me it looks like vivian on the left from the young ones for those who know the show, and the young ladies pants stripes need some serious antialiasing, very jaggy, or did i miss the point, my eyes are getting bad, can we zoom in.

amazing, problem is how can one get thru to someone with such little self worth, talk about lower than a snakes belly. i totally understand if someone has uploaded someone elses work and given credit for it, or a different youtube name is used by the actual author or similar , this is fine and easy to make the mistake of faulse accusation. but blatant plagiarism of this kind is beyond my comprehension and so it should be. at least other get to see it even if its remixed with a gay song as the comments imply :)

ok, my misunderstanding, yet i still standby the statements in my last post: has to be one of, if not my most favorite enhancement for simming full stop. TOUCH-BUDDY, its a credit to the creator and his loyal helpers, big thumbs up lads. ok then, :) from what i saw of the ch mfd, it had buttons etc with changable overlay printout. touchbuddy can be made with profiles instantly changing controls to suit what ever aircraft you desire, can be intergrated with other similar software for displaying gauges etc. no offence but the ch mfd's don't impress me other than the fact you are going to feel an actual button rather than just a touch (which you can receive audible and visual feedback for anyway in TB). as for my screens i use a 19" overlay which was supposed to be installed inside the monitor but i just have it sitting on top, approx $180 from hong kong sold thru ebay. will provide details if required, please pm if need be. many people just get smaller touch screens like 7 or 8" as a TB profile can be scaled to suit whatever size monitor you have and a lot of profiles are created by owners of small screens so they are designed as such. hell i used it for a while just clicking with the mouse on a standard screen. perhaps we should create a separate DCS-TB thread. better still go check out the TB forums and download the latest release and give it a go, theres not much it can't control, virtually anything you can do on the keyboard, but with macros etc, eliminating those multiple key press functions and allowing you to do complex commands with the press or touch of a single button/switch etc. ok thats it.:megalol:

yellonet, you are amusing me enough for a giggle to erupt in the otherwise silent atmosphere. its always going to be a game of catchup, and with hardware and software forever on opposing teams, how can you win. unfortunately you just have to do as yellonet suggests and go with a lesser settings until you can provide the software with the hardware to do it justice. even today after several upgrades i am still not running lockon @ full settings. as for the coding, yes maybe it can be optimized somewhat but thats why we have moved on to DCS.

lots of asking going on, its hard to resist when the desire to know is strong. trying not to overwhelm these guys as they have been very generous lately with information, and also being around and available thru the forums, i am quite sure this is greatly appreciated by the community. please keep it up .
