arh, the old debate of when to and what to upgrade, i love it its nearly as good as the 'fanboy' video card arguments. for those that embrace the new technology, wether it be hardware or software, i say well done. i need people like yourselves to find the bugs etc so they can get sorted out in the next service pack or driver release. so that when i finally get my hands on one it works like a charm. you cannot deny that early adopters/adapters are in fact unofficial beta testers, the advantage is that a solid knowledge of the new item is gained and those who hold back do in a way get sort of left behind, as i discovered when i recently upgraded to a new phone after several years of thinking they were just for making calls :D so rather than live in the past, or the future, i like to live in the now :)

Kuky, sounds like just what the doctor ordered, full-ish control over what goes where, would like to hear if you get this sorted for lockon, cheers ggg. -
a very good point, i like it:thumbup:

good to see i am not alone, how did i not stumble across this before:music_whistling: it is only thanks to touchbuddy and ruggbutts f15 profile that i really got to understand i had a problem as my trackir would pause or go into slow mode after i had tried to give my wingmen a command from the game tab. might be able to add some buttons to the game tab for the trackir centre, pause etc. anyway, i guess i doesn't matter what keys you use provided they aren't mapped to something else :)

another true blue here, loving lockon and love the airshows, went to the one out at the richmond raaf base recently and it was a good day, missed out on seeing the eagles though as they were a no show for some reason. as for the avalon air show its well here: http://www.airshow.net.au/airshow2007/general-info/index.html indeed looks like a big event, maybe even some eagles and some newer stuff too going by the pics, yet that may just be a tease, will have to find some details of what will be there. so yes a few aussies around the traps, and not a bad bunch of blokes either, that goes for the rest of em round here too.

after discovering that keeping the default key commands for the trackir software was taking away the original functions performed by those keys i got to thinking, better remap the offending keys, f7 f8 and f9. so i went into the trackir profile, went to hotkeys and edited them accordingly. i never use the slow setting so i disabled that. i changed the 'pause' to numberpad 2, and the 'centre view' to numberpad 1. this gave me back the f7 f8 and f9 keys to give me alternate view etc. i chose the numberpad keys 1 and 2 as ever since getting a trackir i have never really used the numberpad other than to zoom in and out, default zoom and quickly looking at the instrument panel. the view commands seemed like a good choice. just worked this out today and was wondering how other trackir users map their keys?

dps, i managed my first low visability landing using ils in mission 2 after the refuelling that took me many attempts to hook up, i am still struggling with the way you get guided into the airbase with the us navigation but thats another story. anyway i was so happy to have finally landed in one piece when i could not even see the runway, i was stoked:thumbup: please keep em coming, just finished my mission 3 weapons training over saki and now i am off to enter the war games. cheers mate, ggg. -

Dual Core - selecting startup Affinity
G3 replied to Prophet's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
yes a good thread and perfect timing, i have done the manual affinity thing after things are running, some things let you and some don't. and i see prophet is onto a way to go in a change reg entries. so its a one off permanent fix? thats sounding good, when you think about it there's a fair bit going on other than the lockon game itself. would be nice to have a simple option to somehow select a "gaming mode", and then only the game would be on one core, all the other background stuff on the other core. 1, is there a way to specify an app to get sole access to use one core exclusively, as in force it to reserve the full core for the game? 2, is it best to set lockon to core 2? -

i am enjoying this also, don't be discouraged by an apparent lack of enthusiasm, look at it this way, you have already taught several people to refuel, see what i mean:thumbup: -
yes it would be nice if we could get to the bottom of this. surely will be something simple. mnemonic, is it somehow connected to the non standard install location of the game. some of us, ok mainly i was having trouble with touchbuddy for that reason. as you can see we love the idea, just cannot seem to get it working? looking forward to your future release, hope to incorperate your gauges in the TBpit  anyone have an idea as to why the error log shows this: LuaExport::LuaExportAfterNextFrame: closed LuaExport::LuaExportAfterNextFrame: closed LuaExport::LuaExportAfterNextFrame: closed LuaExport::LuaExportAfterNextFrame: closed its happening to several of us, lua experts please advise.

Release: TouchBuddy v1.3.0 (revision 9)
G3 replied to zorlac's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
here's what i have done so far with your new f15 1.3 profile x 6 :) i think i should have swapped the tews to the top right, all buttons vhf and game into the centre and the Rt tab to the bottom right, yes that will work better, anyway its easily changable and thats the beauty of it, make it show whatever you want, the right bottom screen still has the tabs showing so you can use that for viewing maps etc. -

looks great ruggbutt, i had to laugh when i saw your tews tab as i made one myself today virtually identical, tews, load and mcp. great minds think alike:thumbup:, off to download it now, thankyou. -

one final note: it would appear that the server/client configuration is a lot better for the game performance. on local mode i was getting a stuttering effect when using the new active modules, when running in server/client mode i see smoothness, and smooth is good. once again so simple to setup, if you have a spare pc around give it something to do :) cheetah, you are totally right, even if you don't own a touchscreen, or a second pc, its still very useful having the buttons etc just a mouse click away, i will happily admit there are buttons in there that i don't know the key commands for, so without touchbuddy i would never have the control over the game i now do. Touch-Buddy.... ggg rating = highly recommended, essential lockon software:thumbup: -

zorlac, you are most welcome to use my images, feel free to do with them as you please. i already took the liberty of uploading one to the TB forums called TBpit :), sounded like a good name at the time. i would like to get my hands on the new f-15 including the active tews etc when ruggbutt uploads it, then i can have a play with that. when i learn to place multiple tabs showing on one window and hopefully can span a window the full width i will take some better quality photos, as the ones i have shown here were just snapped to give an idea of whats possible. anyway, glad you liked my creation, its all thanks to your creation :) -

haha, i wish, i am still mousing about :) this is running thru the th2go and the screens are 1280x1024. hence the reason i am after being able to make skin/window @ the full 3840x1024 :) looking at different options, 7" panel, 19"overlays etc. but for now its point and click mouse style. already far better than looking for the keyboard combinations. its just radiculous how simple it all becomes when its a button press and not a series of confusing key combinations. your new profile looks great, i must learn to move whole tabs onto the same skin/window. in my example there are five touch-buddies running, i have at least learnt to make them all open up in the right position. just thru in an a64 4800x2 cpu and suprisingly the stutters have all but vanished, it still does it ever so slightly, but that is with 2 active module tabs open, previously with the a64 3000+ it was terrible with only one active module tab open, so very pleased with that, still some config work to be done there. as you can see from the pics its a butcherous effort, just dipping a toe in the water so far, early days yet my friends, will be milking you for info now i have the bug :) look forward to learning more advanced stuff, :book::book::book: if i ever sleep again....dam you TB -

hopefully nobody minds me mashing up their profiles, below is what i have come up with after about an hour learning the WBK TBTK :) and messing with the profile for the f-15 from ruggbutt. so if this caveman can do it so can you. realtime mcp on the left, tews + combat commands in the middle and game commands on the right, dam i forgot the simple load strip :) ruggbutt, i would like a copy of your new version for the f-15 if you are happy to share it. here a blurry one of the mcp going off after some damage arrived and the other two panels, poor image quality sorry. -

yes its working, so easy to read the info, tews data is flowing , thanks for your assistance. stutters remain so i guess that priority setting is my next matter of interest. this is only occurring when a profile is open on a tab containing an active module, eg: tews or mcp. i can run totally seperate profiles on all 3 screens with no stuttering provided none of them currently have an active module tab open. maybe running both videocard outputs from the main pc gpu might not be helping. i can try going the client/server method with another pc running the th2go, that might be the go if that takes some load off the game. 1, will test various priority settings, and/or making it run on the other core if thats possible yet? 2, set up the server/client method and run TB on the th2go on the client pc and across one large skin. (once we get the max res issue sorted). 3, sit back and ponder how good this is, still very impressed. more so now i am getting more familiar with the toolkit and creating profiles. (butchering ruggbutts profiles actually :) ) love the sound of smoothing out the options and configuration of TB by making a preferences/options setup page, very nice idea. less chance of silly typo's like mine:music_whistling::doh: even though i am still clicking with the mouse, using TB has once again raised the bar and increased the immersion factor, god knows it must be sweet just touching those buttons, i look forward to that... keep up the great work, a truely amazing addition to lockon, which i for one am truely greatful for, i love it, thankyou. -

remember back in the day, typing basic for 3 days on the C=64 just to get some lame game to work, and almost without fail a syntax error or line 382 or whatever. well the point is my problem all along was a simple typo. ignoring other sub folders the default install is apparently "Lock On", i have mine in "lockon" unsure if the code is case sensitive but i am pretty sure it noticed the space. so for anyone still having problems getting the tews module communicating i would suggest checking the path in the touchbuddy.cfg file and ensure it is pointing to the correct location of the touchbuddy-export.dat this one, mine for example reads lomac_data_file = d:\games\lockon\touchbuddy-export.dat only took 2 days for me to find a space :D -

good to see you guys are on the job , thanks for taking note of my problem with the wide res and thanks for the install guide. from what you wrote out in that walk thru, i cannot see why mine isnt working, and tomorrow is another day. i like the priority idea, i look forward to messing around with the dual core cpu and getting things like touchbuddy on one core and the game solely on the other. following your walk thru to the letter, fingers crossed. -

just reading that story made me smile, it must have felt great to see it actually worked :smartass: after a full format, reinstall of everything, fresh install of fc 1.12a i still fail to get the tews working. i have buttons talking operating gear, flaps and all that so i am half way there. what the hell can it be. i must need a TB tews for dummies:doh: very glad your found the toolkit was the limiting factor with the width, would be great to just have one skin the full 3 screens, then who needs tabs :) so after a seemingly wasted in more ways than one afternoon, i am back to where i left off 8hours ago, no tews action, stale and big pauses approx every 1 second. ps: zorlac, does that temp/error log reset or anything, like when are you checking it, while the game is running or after you exit to desktop? sigh :(, pls :helpsmilie: -

note: the demo vids are very helpful, definately watch them got the new download, and have so far made a profile or 2 (quick edit off ruggbutts f15) and added the tews but it remains stale :)and counting, as does the simple load. i tried it across the th2go, but i am having trouble making the window res any wider than 3200, i was trying for the full 3840x1024. is that a limit we can increase somewhere? will do more testing after i complete a fresh install with new hdd, which i am doing now. i also tried running 3 instances of TB using the f15 lft, ctr, rgt tabs and including the tews and the simple load, but this seemed to pause my game slightly everytime the stale counter ticked over. loving the editor, already made my own profile from scratch, very basic but its a start, so dam easy thanks to WBK:thumbup: as you can see not much joy is coming my way getting this and other external apps working properly so that is why the format is happening. all the teething aside i have to say i am most impressed, even clicking the screens and watching in game responces is magic, take for example how simple it is to send your wingman a message/command. so many other once difficult commands now made easy. this will consume me now you realise :) :book:
