ok i am inspired, i never saw that a340project setup in detail before, thanks.. good effort, see the detail in everything.

the later spherical approach most distant is the one i would like to be closest too :D but the passive warping method, pj and mirror is looking to be the best current solution. lets just think about this a little. the projected image hits the curved mirror, and then bounces back to the screen at twice the angle it hits the mirror at, basic reflection principal as i understand it, with me? so the mirror curve will be somewhat relative to the screen arc, and i therefor imagine the fit of the picture to the screen would be adjusted by the distance and angle between the projector and the mirror, yes? if that makes any sense then this has some serious potential, and some serious possibility, with a certain degree of probability, of happening that is :D i think the projector @ 1280x720 would be quite good for this arc theory. any ideas on where to get such a bending mirror?

i totally overlooked half your post and i looks as though you had discovered softTH long before i saw it :) the high FOV is a big problem for me, i think 175 was my stable max, over 180 started the crashes and distorted the view excessively. could we have an update on your setup please peter... more pics etc, cheers g3.

Fufunka, i have followed the discussions about the domes and curved screens with blending etc that you have posted before, i love the idea, especially the domes. i have a projector, would build a dome and get a mirror if i understood that we could do it for lockon. to warp the image mesh seperate to the game is what i am wondering. i wish i understood it enough to help make it come true :) currently the th2go, zoomed out to near normal view is just too demanding for my system so sacrifices are required in the graphics department. on the side screens you get some distortion and that interferes with your depth perception, for example looking at an airport from say 5miles @ 5k alt, it will appear to be closer on the left and right, and further away in the centre view, making you think you needed to turn in quicker when landing etc if you see a strip from the side view you quickly adapt but it would be much better if the depth of field could remain constant. point being: if we can have a partial dome, the same basic rectangular shape of the projectors resolution (16:9) along with the "remapped image mesh" to match the dome. i am guessing the above issues might be resolved? the dome pics posted earlier looked pretty bloody good...

Styxx, could you expand on this please, i have one of these units and to allow for the bezel edge i adjust the picture position on my left and right monitor towards the centre one, making diagonal lines etc line up, are you saying it can be done automatically giving? 1. what is the current input connection, are these pedals usb or old gameport, or do they plug into via wheel. 2. are you looking for a software solution or a wiring modification? -

totally agree on the mirror/dome/spherical projection. could the curving of the image be done seperate to the game and run as a graphics plugin as such? the domes themselves would be not that difficult to make, a round 6-8' frame with a plastic sheet drumskin style gradually filled with water to get the dome shape for example, then a mould made, who knows, if we had the software i will make the dome :D the small rounded mirror could possibly be: a half dome shaped mirror/reflective security camera cover or similar. and think of the space saving compared to a triple projector setup. it definately has potential and i would love to see it somehow intergrated into a future sim, or as a seperate program to curve a games normal output, flying a heli in a dome would be something to behold. fingers crossed, its out of my league :) -
Kuky, i love your setup, very swish mate. i fkn hate clutter, my mate has so many empty beers on his desk that he has to reach around them to get to the keyboard, i am not joking :D also good to see some quality hardware like antec cases etc, but i guess it comes as no suprise as most of as are probably all to aware of the hell raised by cheap psu's etc, and this aint no solitaire. sorry for lack of hotas view, i have a ch combat stick and an sfs f-15 throttle. a racing seat from a car on an office chair base, best idea, its so dam cumfy, tilt up down etc, i have designed it to have a wooden platform under the chair that acts as little wings big enough to place my hotas on so the entire flight controls are independant of the desk. and the three lcd's with 6x touchbuddy tabs will this year become touchscreens, thats my mission and i have chosen to accept it :)

hehehehe, classic stuff.:megalol: i wonder if they have the occassional cry baby, or the lame questions that are answered in the manual or in the tutorials.... how about the persistant requests for certain planes to be added etc :D i bet they do

Solution for TrackIR & Widescreen Aspect Ratio
G3 replied to Kuky's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Kuky, i like your way of thinking :smartass: it got me thinking, so doing it this way after an ingame change still requires a restart before playing again, if i remember rightly you needed to do that anyway so you could then manually edit the required files to restore your aspect, this does it all for you, just end and restart the game. great solution, we all know the aspect thing is a headache, not to mention the occassional game start with a motionless tracker, very well done. great work, a nice touch using the games own .bat file, i usually run that file after formating c:\, when lockon is on another partition. wicked (excellent) stuff. an excellent and relatively simple tweak. no doubt it will be appreciated by widescreen, trackir and dualcore users all around the world :) -
gotta love an update, and you gotta love that, 2007 and a new love affair  with a broad thats getting on a bit:megalol: ps: i'll second that, long life to all dev team, and welcome andreik

Release of new Virtual Panel v.1.2.1!
G3 replied to Mnemonic's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
following this thread with much anticipation: getting the same disconnection as walternowi. long list in error file: LuaExport::LuaExportAfterNextFrame: closed LuaExport::LuaExportAfterNextFrame: closed LuaExport::LuaExportAfterNextFrame: closed LuaExport::LuaExportAfterNextFrame: closed LuaExport::LuaExportAfterNextFrame: closed LuaExport::LuaExportAfterNextFrame: closed LuaExport::LuaExportStop: closed copied over files to appropriate folder, disabled firewalls. starting up the game and vp in correct order, all is good until S key is pressed. then lua says its closed? ps: my error log and config are same as walternowi's must be something different in our setups, mine i s a pretty basic install? -
all the best Gys, don't know you but if you fly the virtual skies then you are virtually my friend :) or my virtual friend for that matter. looks like you are a well respected member of our community and i bid you a speedy and complete recovery, no one needs these extra life hassles, its generally crazy enough as it is.

best looking pit project i have ever seen, and i have seen a few :) top effort to joe and team. amazing detail on the gauges, is the idea to eventually have them working, or remain static? would be neat to incorperate touchbuddy, and virtual panel software. please keep us informed of your progress, very impressive.

please forgive my apparent lack of appreciation :) (time delay) thanks for reply superkunfu, now i understand. as it is i am reluctant to experiment with performance by editing in game settings due to the constant need to reset the aspect ratio. it will be great when this is fixed for BS. looking forwards to flying the heli, should bring a host of new improvements such as this one.

triplehead done in software called "softTH"
G3 replied to G3's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
yes i already have a th2go and love it so, disappointed, not for a minute :) . i stumbled across this software version and felt it worth sharing so that others might get to experience the same with less financial outlay. don't quote me on it, from what i understood it sounds as thought it is in fact all rendered with the main card, and as you suggested, somehow just passed to the secondary card. as they did mention that the secondary card could be somewhat lower end. but the recommended bus was pci-e for bandwidth, although agp+pci may work, but might suffer with performance. from the little video, the results look exactly the same as the th2go. if no one tries it out i may find the time to give it a go myself and compare, no promises, i've learned to avoid making those :) -
triplehead done in software called "softTH"
G3 replied to G3's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
interesting news there, i wonder if there is a limit to how wide it can go, because i could imagine 3x1920x1200 might look nice :) 5760x1200 dvi th2go, now that would be good. one thing i find with running 3x19" @ 3840x1024 is that it could do with being bigger to provide a larger radius or arc, with bigger lcd's the view would wrap around you more, i think this would be one desireable improvement that a higher resolution unit would provide. time will tell wether its achievable, so while we are waiting who's going to try this softTH ? -

G3 replied to G3's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
lawndart, you are most welcome. i think what you describe above about the fov issue is what we kind of fixed with some edits of config and lua files. this is a pic of the original view zoomed out as far as it could go. and below is the end result of some collective thinking from the community. (no BS pun intended :)) you can find the whole thread here: http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=17306&highlight=triplehead no sure if it works for all planes but it sorts the eagle out. disclaimer: the two images above are with the th2go unit not softTH, simply to inicate that altering the horizontal field of view is possible in lockon with some editing. unfortunately the unseeen portitions of the view are apparently still being drawn so the further you zoom out/back the more of a performance hit you suffer. i have not personally tried softTH and have no idea of either its 1. performance or 2. usability. 1. performance will be system dependant, as running 3 screens from one pc stretches things somewhat, even on a decent pc. 2. usability might depend on the individual :D now that's all said and done, i really hope 'some' of us or at least 'someone' will get 'something' out of this, softTH looks to be compatible with several popular game titles. its by far a more economical way to enter the triple screen arena. -

straight after you get that third overlay i guess :) was j/k. about the extra touchscreen, and i must say its looking sweet now as you have it set up. love the no keyboard :) something to note about the softTH: i read there is still a horizontal resolution limit. -

both in the same pc. straight after you get that third overlay i guess :) i followed that thread to his images and it is a significant gain or reduction if you like, still a gap but definately better. as for the crt's i think the outer edges of the tubes would be rounded, like a square under pressure :) -
#### software only version of 3 screen gaming #####3 screens gaming using 2 video cards. many of you will know that before i got my matrox triplehead2go i was desperately trying to get lockon and other games working across 3 screens using 2 videocards and various software apps like maxivista etc to achieve the 3 wide view. until now it was basically very difficult to get the 3rd screen to render the in game view. it now looks as though some clever guy has overcome this with an app called softTH. i stumbled across a youtube video of a guy using a software only version of the triplehead to go. for the record, and it is a broken one :), i am a very proud owner of the triplehead2go unit. th2go is indeed a wonderful thing, once discovered there is no going back. just like a hotas, trackir, and touchbuddy etc. this software does the same job as a th2go unit, using your main powerful videocard and a second not so powerful card, as all the hard work is apparently done by the main videocard the second card can be lower spec. pci-e is recommended but not essential, agp + pci also works but may not perform as well. here's a link to the video on youtube: and here is a link to the site where a beta version is ready to download: http://www.kegetys.net/SoftTH/ hopefully some more of you will get to try out 3screen gaming using this great program. i think the 3 monitors can be mismatched for resolution as it says it scales the side screens :) would love to hear from anyone who gives this a go, cheers.

G3 replied to Glowing_Amraam's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
a few ideas for you GA, plenty cockpit view and some trackir panning etc. if possible remaining focused on target and bringing the chopper view around with yaw, i love doing that :) maybe some instrumentation/nav/map shots prior to engaging, like locking up a threat. chopper vs chopper urban shootout amongst buildings. various range of weapons releases and impact on enemy vehicles/targets. group low level flybys, external view takeoff and landings. jet and chopper formation flying. high bank agressive 180' turns after overpassing a target. night mission/vision action low level. cockpit view sam/manpad attack on wingman. take em or leave em, just some ideas.
