Controlling Ka50 pit with TrackIR?
G3 replied to britgliderpilot's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
agreed even if not for combat, startup and general cockpit usage in a mission on the way to a conflict would be interesting using the trackir, if you were to dumb down the curve in the middle or use the (i think either the) f7 or f8 key, that slows the movement down dramatically...this might increase the ability to focus on the instruments with greater precision. hey britgliderpilot, believe people when they say you will be impressed. hell when using my trackir i sometimes forget i have a family so i am sure your housemates won't bother you when flying as they will vitually not exist. and you are a student, surely you know what its like not to eat for a few days :) -
you have the right ideas, i too look forward to getting a ful pit setup with glass gauges and hopefully vsd and tews on small lcds. and one just for hud, i hear ya... we are definately getting closer, but afaik so far no cigar.

Patch 1.12a or 1.12b... where is the 1.12b???
G3 replied to Ardillita's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
a man after my own heart. i like it, organised yet still confused :D  -
good question about IFF, slightly OT here, not being familiar with actual RL ROE i can't say if its normal practice. i watched a doco recently on the vietnam conflict where the us pilots had to do as GGtharos suggested in option C, which was to identify the bandits by eye before engaging/attacking, sound dam risky to me. guess it better than shooting down a friendly, although it puts you in a rather vunerable predicament to have to get so close before firing.

appreciate the encouragement guys, i am persisting and finding it better all the time.

several options: 1, multi head card like modern nvidia and span the view horizontally or vertically and modify the aspect ratio and resolution in the config files. that will use 2 out of three, unfortunately split screen in the middle, boo. 2, get an older matrox parhelia card or possibly an old nvidia quatro i think. both these solutions are getting old now though. 3, lash out and buy yourself a matrox triplehead2go adaptor box that tells the pc all 3 monitors are just one big wide screen. provided you can run all three monitors at the same resolution and refresh rate. hows that? :)

went to the game shop today, no cyborgs stick available, apparently some guy had bought all the cyborgs for some bizarre fetish :music_whistling: .joe king. sorry mate, jokes aside. i have seen those things, haven't owned one, haven't heard much positive about them either. i am more interested in something semi-realistic like the current suncom talon i am using, its just a pitty its not a little more precise and LH :)

Andrew, for one reason or another i enjoy reading your comments. i agree we as lefties are unfortunately a majorly minor minority, and i too would gladly fork out mega bucks for a factory built left hand hotas. currently doing my best to learn right handed, but i am not happy about it. :joystick:

i especially like the 3 projector setup, imagine that. 3 projectors with the th2go, oh my. still waiting on my local matrox dealer to get me one of these units (th2go):(

still using my right for the stick, getting better i would have to say, still feels weird and lacking accuracy. its definately a challenge:thumbup: (even the thumbs up is LH)

G3 replied to G3's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software

G3 replied to G3's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2

they are terrific sites, thankyou muchly. -
i am currently obsessed with watching AIR COMBAT and any other military related shows on tv and i am really enjoying trying to identify the various jets i see. would like to learn more about the different types and eventually be able to see a jet and say, hey thats a F/A-18 or whatever with some sort of confidence rather than my current half guess :) can anyone point me in the right direction as to a web site that has a collection of large-ish images of modern jets and some basic data about the aircraft, most sites i have found so far have provided copious amounts of info with dismally small images. any help appreciated as always...

how to give someone a reputation? (sorry for this)
G3 replied to G3's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
:noexpression:oh my:doh:, thankyou. -
i had previously thought it was bad to have a reputation, especially for the ladies but apparently that is not the case here :book:, so: after being curious enough to have a look in my User CP, i saw that some of you had been kind enough to have given me a rep point, 16 of them in fact had been put in there. correct me if i am wrong but i can only assume its due to other members being under the impression that something i had to say was worth reading. :) if this is the case, i too would like to give others some positive feedback for articles or posts in threads that i find of interest or of benefit to my enjoyment of lockon. such as ironhands advice recently for watching your wreckage for longer after a meeting with the ground. i looked around my User CP but failed to find anything.... i feel kind of bad for not realising this earlier, often i found others replies and threads very helpful indeed. please advise and i will forward some reps in future myself, cheers.

tried it and ctrl + f11 works a treat, exactly what we were looking for. what can i say, excellent advice backed up with an equally excellent explaination, Ironhand you are a credit to this great community, i will be looking into that keycommands.doc for any other little secrets i may have missed. around here, ask and you do receive without the usual BS, and i don't mean black shark ;) without appearing to kiss up too much, or sound like a fossil i would like to take this opportunity to say everyone here have made me feel most welcome and i enjoy the relatively mature atmosphere amoungst the forum and its members. here's to a great game and a helpful community.

my young blokes reply 7yrs old a-10 pilot: ironhand, cool thankyou man, you rock dude and my reply aging f-15 pilot: thankyou very much ironhand, i have wanted to know this for ages, much appreciated. Q: is this a documented option, i ask as i have read/ok browsed both the 1.02 and the 1.1 along with the enhanced manual and have not seen this command before, not saying it wasn't there, just i must have missed it if it is in there. cheers fo that, will enjoy the crashes even more now :)
-
today my son asked me something i too was wondering, that is: can't we watch the crash for longer? is it possible to extend the amount of time the crash sequence plays for once you have been shot down or made a mess of the landing, i enjoy having a look around after the fact and sometimes continuing to watch the battle unfold. once the plane i am in hits the ground, maybe half a second and then it defaults over to an aircraft still in the mission, i would like it to stay looking at the crashed wreckage for longer and perhaps be able to pan around like in the F2 view. as always any advice is much appreciated...
-
hey snomhf, unless i am not looking properly you need to register to that site to download the f-15 for fs9, i took the zip file name and googled it and came up with alternate locations. will give it a try later, should be fun, more fun than a cesna anyway :megalol:
-
thanks very much team for this info, i too fell victim to the trackir3 pro not working. it continued to work fine in windows and looking at the tracking view of the heads there was no prob there. simply removed those two files as mentioned, and i was once again looking around the cockpit, thankyou, i was about to re-install :) threads like this are wonderful...

i am currently experimenting with flying RH, to me it just seems so foreign. my eye hand co-ordination is at an all time low especially trying to land. or pulling a 90' roll for example. i think a big factor may be whether or not you started left or right? for myself i have flown sims LH for over +10years and that is one hard nut to crack. for now right it is.....

SFS talon + split throttle for f-15 setup
G3 replied to G3's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
funny you say that as it was just the other night i saw a really nice pit and was thinking hmmm that would be cool :) you never know with me, doesn't take much to get a project going:thumbup: that can be a thread of its own, as i would like to discuss pits further. definately has got me thinking though.....
