Release: TouchBuddy v1.3.0 (revision 9)
G3 replied to zorlac's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
new release, 1.3.0, there goes my weekend :) congrats on the latest release, look forward to trying out the new tews and other features implemented in this revision. to zorlac, WBK, and ruggbutt (and others behind the scenes). this has to be one of the most amazing free addons to gaming ever. the toolkit is awesome and suprisingly friendly to navigate, the user profiles are great and by the sounds of it about to get better, no doubt ruggbutt will be making his f15 profile to incorperate the new tews, can't wait. thanks again for every second you guys have spent on creating this great app. full respect:thumbup: -
mnemonic, appreciate your effort and look forward to the new version, you don't know why mine and krels won't connect, that makes 3 of us :) just to recap if anyone has any ideas to help get this sorted: we start VP and all is well, start lockon and open a mission, VP connects. press S to start flying and VP disconnects, why?????
-
from the look of it the ones sit in front externally are just a fancy frame for the ones you fit internally, would you agree. if thats the case then it would be relatively easy to create a custom housing of your own to house the bare overlay similar to the magictouch version. definately food for thought, currently still paying off xmas :) edit: watched those videos on the TBtoolkit, and was delighted that it seemed far simpler than i had imagined. looking forward to getting this all working...
-
how have you set that up, is it fitted internally or does it just sit on top of your existing screen. edit: oh i see, yes it goes inside, is that how you have it? and is the usb connection hanging off the side like in the pictures. hmmmm, interesting, very intersting :)
-
andy that is a truely awesome idea and one that i will give more consideration in the future. i had thought of just an additional 7 or 8" touchscreen, i do see the potential for 3 of those overlays to make a complete touch pit :) i intend to use the virtual panel in the middle with touchbuddy on the 2 outer th2go screens but those windows would have no touch just display, a very good idea those overlays, and cheers ruggbutt for the link. it would seriously save on pit building and the ability to instantly reconfigure it for different planes/heli's would be great.

in the pursuit of external gauges i have tried in the past to setup f4glass with lomac2glass and had similar problems, app would run but no data sent to gauges. never did resolve the comms issue. question is: what makes our setups different i wonder? i am running virtual panel locally, to a second monitor connected on the second dvi out from 6800 ultra vid card for the sake of testing i have no firewall, no AnitiVirus etc just xp pro sp2 lockon gold patch 1.12a i have made no other changes apart from copying over the 2 files in to the appropriate directory. would dearly like to get this sorted out, but i personally have no idea :)
-
sorry to hear that, not to worry, your work on the tews is a great achievement in its own right. thats it, off to dload TB:thumbup:
-
this is looking great but i am having a slight problem... after copying over the two files, i am starting VP, then lockon and opening a mission, i get connected but it disconnects the moment i press s to start playing, any ideas?

zorlac, finally got to view that 1.3 video, what can i say but "you have done it", this is amazing stuff. watching the tews update in real time, that is music to my eyes:) and can we expect to see the VSD included as an active module i was good last year and santa brought me a ptax100e projector 1280x720 with the screen sitting above my th2go 3x19" setup. i invisage having the mnemonics virtual panel with instruments in the centre, tews on the right and hopefully VSD on the left (via touchbuddy if its possible). then using the projector for the main cockpit view, with possibly a touch screen to top it off. i understand i may need seperate computers for the 3x19" screens for the virtual panel and TB screens, thats fine, no shortage of decent old pc's :) looking forward to giving all this a try when i get some time... so can we have a VSD? via TB for using the tws feature in the f15. that would be so cool, heres an example of what i am trying to describe: (just a mock setup from screenshots i just took and positioned as if it were 3 screens below the projector screen).

i am about to buy a dual core amd cpu and am interested in what the end result is here: 1, is the amd x2 optimiser (tsc) fix alone enough to solve the issue? 2, is procaff still required or not? 3, are you setting all background apps etc to run on one core and the game to run on the other core?

and what about the cable lengths etc, things like this can give ghosting effects etc and quality loss, or is it more like some text is kind of clear yet other letters will look as if they were in bold print etc. does the monitor have an auto tune feature for the current input. just throwing around some ideas. hope you get it sorted.
-
rich, ignore if its already obvious to you, do you know the native resolution for this monitor, something like 2560x1600 or similar, (depending on model it could be far less) the native res will give best results for text etc. for gaming it must be pretty.

Black Sea Operations 30 Mission F-15 Campaign Taster.
G3 replied to DPS's topic in User Created Missions General
just to get this straight, this has nothing to do with the previously unreleased black sea ops? i enjoyed your teaser movie, well done, lots of different aircraft etc. looking forward to getting into a few missions, bring it on DPS  -
For pit builders: LockOn Virtual Panel 1.0.1.beta
G3 replied to VMFA117_Poko's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
must say i am a little excited, virtual panel software is a great idea. agreed, it would be great to see a release with positionable gauges for making those pit overlays and it sounds like we will see it in the near future. will definately be trying this out myself asap. some US style gauges will be welcomed :) maybe ruggbutt could assist with the graphic side of things, his TB panels for the us aircraft are amazing. its cool how lockon keeps evolving it just gets better all the time, virtual gauges panel in the middle, TB to the side, and maybe one day the tews etc. we are getting closer people :) , great work Mnemonic. -
i don't mind the edits either, i quite like doing it that way, once... but as we know a visit to the options menu and back to default it goes. can you explain the way LoCFG handles the apsect ratio, from pics i have seen it handles lots of options and config settings, does it fix the aspect ratio for you before the game starts, please explain, thanks.
-
its a beautiful thing alright, its impressive. 3072x768 is still up there and its the native res for the centre, sweet. i tried 3840x720 @ aspect of 5.333333333, full screen = 0 and it worked across the 3x19" lcd and just cropped it like a widescreen dvd, futher reducing the view but working. more inquiries: do you see any difference in the image of the native res centre screen compared to the scaled sides? how would you say the projectors compare to an lcd monitor, do they for instance have a millisecond rating like 8ms? either way its looking good. ps: can't recall, are you using trackir ?
-
i have tried what you are saying but i found the slight depth difference to be more off putting than the wider gaps. each to there own but personally i didn't like it. another thing, especially for racing games was for your line of sight to be positioned in the centre of the screens vertically, otherwise the horizontal plain seems to be bending. other th2go owners should know what i mean here. bnepethomas, so you got your 3 projectors, unfortunately i am blocked by corporate firewall and cannot see your images as yet. edit: oh i see em now, in all their glory, that looks great. awesome setup mate, if i have been good i think santa might be bringing me a pt-ax100e :D i don't know much about them, i am told 3xlcd is the way to go, along with being 16:9 good for watching dvd's etc and this one does 1280x720 native, so i wonder how the th2go would do running @ 3x1280x720 ? ! idea: will try on my 3 monitors. (i will apologise in advance for my poor terminology), 1, you say the side are 800x600 but the centre is 1024x768, if so how have you configured the res, can you only run @ what the sides can do or does it scale the signal. eg: are you limited to 2400x600 or can you force the sides to upscale to 1024x768, or even 1280x1024. 2, will th2go be happy running @ 1280x720x3 ? wicked to finally see the 3 projectors setup, you have made me a tad envious, ok maybe more than a tad :D

and thats all the thanks i need, glad to be of assistance and great to hear you sorted it out, i was thinking you may have had the zoom axis unticked in the old install of the trackir software, but thats neither here nor there now. :) janko, the f-15 joystick is from a company called Suncom, the model is a talon-e they are old gameport connection in combination with a keyboard pass thru, it also has a matching split throttle with programable buttons to emulate key combinations etc. you often see them on ebay. there is a budget model with no programable buttons and one big red light rather than a coolie hat. unfortunately, and much to my dissappointment these sticks were of fairly poor build quality, the axis responding erratically after a short period of time seemed to be the most common issue, as for the actual action or feel of the stick you could not ask for more. it works on a pivot point and a spring similar to a saitek hotas, unlike the ch gear i am now using which has a noticable transition felt between axis as it has seperate springs for each axis.

Best/latest graphics driver for laptop?
G3 replied to SuperKungFu's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
superkungfu, here is a post i made sometimeback about the same kind of thing, hopefully this will help you, see the link at the end and read up. was getting frustrated the other day as i tried to update my aging geforce 440 go graphics card drivers for my laptop (toshiba satellite 1955-801) the original recovery cd's only came with a vanilla version of xp and the driver version was way back in the 29.xx it seemed that the only driver not installed automatically by XP_sp2 was the driver for this videocard/chip gf 440 go. so after attempting to install the latest 84.20 forceware i was met with a message along the lines of: "this driver is incompatible with your hardware", which in turn was met by my blank expression of disbelief as my driver upgrade failed. lets cut to the chase: i went looking for why, and found a great site that explained it all and provided the solution i was after. it seems that its just a matter of overwriting the drivers original inf with a modified one, which then gives the driver permission to install due to the extra information in the modified inf. if your system is working fine then i guess you would be reluctant to update the driver for no reason, its more for people who are having some gaming issues etc due to outdated drivers. check out the link and if you need help go to the drivers page and read the FAQ. http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ use at ones own risk as always.... -
to the best of my knowledge we are stuck with the limited look down and the fact that it gets worse the more you look around towards the wing and beyond. as for the lessons or training tracks, i don't think they are designed to be played in this non standard view arrangement. best to do them with the stock view settings. on the eagle f-15, i am reasonably happy with the view range achieved by the mods made so far but i am guessing we may be able to get a better look out and down from the cockpit if we increase the default height of the pilots viewpoint, somewhere in the configs i am sure there is a setting to do so, maybe that will help. i have only just started playing with the settings on the a-10. on initial testing i have used the same settings as for the eagle and i found this to be acceptable, although i am not really a ground pounder and maybe this is where adjusting the pilots viewpoint height may be of benefit to achieve a better view towards the ground. and may i stress not to attempt going beyond 180 on the zoom, as this tends to lockup the pc, must be just to much to think about :) as for the trackir, i have spent many hours experimenting with the curves and smoothing, with the increased workload generated by using such a big res with the th2go, it seems important to get things working smoothly, and as such i recommend trying the default smooth curves on the axis and setting the smoothing slider to approx 25-50% its just a matter of trial and error, i will try out the viewpoint settings on the weekend and see what i can find... your system specs are better than mine, and for that i hate you :megalol: not really, but just a bit... would be cool to decide on a common graphics setup for both nvidia driver and ingame and run a few test scenarios to compare the performance between our pc's. i am currently running: a64 3200+ s939 (did have a 3400+ s754) but wanted s939 to get an x2 4800+ A8V deluxe agp 6800 ultra 2gig corsair xms pro if you are willing, we can discuss a common setup to run a few tests to compare.

thats some good advice zorlac, it has me baffled as to why such a key ingredient has been left out for so long, i know my friends and i would make use out of a dedicated server, mostly anything worth playing these days has one, why not lockon... maybe thats why we are still waiting for BS, hehe:music_whistling:

agreed, the bezel edge of the lcd's does ruin the whole illusion somewhat. i sacrifice approximately an inch on the outside edge of the side screens to keep the picture aligned across the bezels, otherwise you are left with a step effect betwen screens. once i got used to it, i pretty much stay focused on the centre screen and the sides just help, with the zoom issue, the side screens distort a little, and make things look closer than they do in the centre view. fps shooters etc all seem to do the same thing unfortunately, apparently its just the way it is. i think the only answer is to get three lcd projectors :)

hello tooldaddy, glad to see another th2go user, welcome aboard. i am more than happy to help resolve your setup problems, now lets get the basics sorted out. firstly which planes are you flying, best to concentrate on one for now to keep things simple, so lets say the f-15 as an example. its all a bit of trial and error, the figures i give are just a basic setup and your taste may vary, just like with the trackir profiles. the view limitations are adjusted in the file view.lua the trackir limitations are adjusted in the server.lua i think these two files are found in the config folder. and each plane has its own line containing variables you can edit. not sitting in front of a lockon pc right now so i will return with more settings and values and exact locations to try once i can confirm them. ps: tooldaddy, please list your pc specs for interest sake. stay tuned and stick with it, you will be very pleased once its sorted. edit: after saying all that, maybe you simply need to hit the / key or the * key on the numberpad, as you still have to adjust your zoom, changing the figures in the lua files just changes the available range, the way i have it setup at present is to make the zoon in limit and zoom out limit the same, this way it only requires a tap of the / key and it jumps straight to you desired zoom. (175 i think is about all you can go up to). get back to me and let me know some more details and i am sure we will find the answer.
