  1. exspanding on Q1, i think the aspect ratio changing can be worked around by using one of those tweak utilities, locfg i think it may be? anyone using this could you please confirm or deny. ps: calling Tekateka, please have a look at Q2, cheers.
  2. great work GA, and cheers also for whoever uploaded it to youtube. from where i am sitting downloading 100Meg+ is frowned upon, but watching them on youtube gets under the radar:thumbup:.
  3. hello again, somethings to ponder: i have been wondering if Black Shark release will have resolved some of the issues associated with using the triplehead2go and widescreens in general. using the triplehead2go when gaming is a true delight, you can see some screenshots in my other post on the subject, it gives that extra peripheral view that you miss out on with only a single screen. 3x19" screens wide together with a trackir is pretty sweet, although not without its issues, some have a work around solution, some do not, and thats what i hope to address here: 1. the aspect ratio defaulting after altering other graphics options. i think this is a headache for widescreen users also. 2. the fact you have to zoom out the view to 175, as explained previously by Tekateka the way it 'overdraws' for want of a better word. where as on the standard zoom 3 screens wide the performance is still excellent, unfortunately its like your head is up against the canopy, as if you were fully zoomed in searching for foe. when zoomed out 3 screens wide to restore the cockpit view to approximately its original single screen size it cripples the game, the pc really struggles, and apparently this might be fixable... this would be a major plus to get this one sorted as it would allow for increased visual quality and game performance. TekaTeka, if you see this please refraze question 2 so it makes sense :) 3. the way the view for the trackir is reduced is another item of interest, although this can be easily modified for offline, apparently its different for online use as the values i think are kept in the server.lua (is that right? ) thanks, ggg87.
  4. thread revival, calling TekaTeka. wondering if we, i mean if you had any luck with this above remaining issue, would be great to gain a whole heap of performance for what could be a minor fix ( fingers crossed :) ) look forward to hearing from you, ggg87
  5. thankyou for the info, look forward to it. about 6 months ago now i thoroughly enjoyed the modern air combat series. cheers :)
  6. well i made my way along with many thousand others via train to the airshow..... i took along my son, my good mate and his kids too. a good day was had by all, it was great to see the old mustang zooming around. nearly as good as pacific fighters.:) watching the jets was great, first time i had seen them close up in RL. the models were pretty life like, nearly on par with those in black shark :) to my dissappointment the F-15's were nowhere to be found :( i went to where i thought they should be and checked my map, re-checked my map and then checked it again, yep they should be right here i said to myself, oh well no eagles. (kind of was my main reason for going, doh) will sort thru my pics and post a few good ones in the near future. some cool aerobatics, seahawk and blackhawk displays, roulettes, the big C-17 etc along with the F-111's and the hornets and many others, even ran into an old friend, what a top day.
  7. i think we are talking utilising multiple cores on one cpu, where as lockon does not currently take advantage of this and until the code is re-written it apparently cannot, if 3dmark06 does then the performance scores of the benchmark results compared to the real world performance of lockon will be significantly different and nearly halvable, hows that sound?
  8. just a heads up for those of us downunder (australia mate). i only just heard myself: Richmond Air Show RAAF Base Richmond Richmond NSW 21–22 October 2006 From Warbirds to the giant C-17 Globemaster F-15, F111, F/A-18 etc. we will be going for sure and should finally get to see an eagle in RL unfortunately no russian birds, although should be plenty of local ones :). train ticket and entry for $20 and kids $5, looking forward to it.
  9. hehe, the plot thickens :)
  10. it would be nice to loose the floppy, but i occassionally use it for doing such things as drivers or memory tests etc, although i think today these are able to be placed on bootable cd. they are getting beyond it but you sure are glad you put one in if its ever needed. i have pc's with and without, things are rarely missed until required :D iguana king, great news on the joy you have found with the new conroe, as even your old system was no slouch, and masive amounts of ram, i hear the full 4gig won't be fully utilised or recognised by a 32bit o/s, yet the momery controller will actually make use of it, once we go to 64bit things wil be different. would be interesting to see the difference between 2gig and 4gig, if you get board please try this out for us, 2gig being the new standard i feel. 1 gig is so 2005, haha :)
  11. so you finally got it hey, great to hear its impressing you, its depressing me :D my once proud specs now a shadow of their former pricetag :D hehehe my flying days are over at present as i am looking to build a slightly newer rig to power the th2go, if you think fps are bad with one monitor, try 3 :( not to mention (although i am now mentioning it) my current addiction is the mod for rfactor called v8factor. i am sure some will be familiar with it but many will not, its an excellent representation of aussie v8 racing and it comes with a timely release of the best mount panorama (bathurst) track i have ever seen or driven in a sim. just in time for this years real race, check it out... now back to computers, iguana, you were right, i do hate you now :D enjoy it.
  12. good info for you there from Fudd. zaguru, i think cali is asking if the aspect ratio changes back after you edit the graphic settings in game...using the lockon configurator you speak of, is that the samething as locfg? from memory i think its the resolution that remains while the aspect gets reset for some reason... so when using the lockon configurator does it maintain the same aspect ratio after making changes in game??? if so i would love to hear about it as i am constantly having to retype those aspect ratio values after i make changes while testing for performance changes etc.
  13. what is it you want to change, is it the view angle limits, the aspect ratio etc. a bit more info and i am sure we can help you get it sorted...
  14. great news on the projectors, th2go and new card. i like it :D as for screen ideas, maybe a long white sheet of screen fabric hanging from a curved rail
  15. cool old pan, is that your ride?
  16. unrelated to flying, yet similar in the fact that gaming can affect real life. in my part of the world we drive on the left side of the road and our cars are right hand drive, after racing nascar online in a left hand drive car i soon after drove my real car and found myself positioned in the wrong part of the lane, almost hitting the median strip, hehe. when you realise what you have done its quite a shock, and then quite amusing... its best to simply avoid reality, its safer :)
  17. mr wolf, forget your toaster, i mowed the lawn with no shirt on and got burnt, dam FC :D on a more serious note: the point about an inadequate power supply in the best question so far: would be intersting to know if in building the new computer this person has used a quality high wattage psu or just the so called 500w hong kong noodle brand that comes in a cheap arse case? just because it says its 500w, don't believe the hype :) its like peak music power in hifi gear, not worth the text its typed in. most faulty pc's i get to see have inadequate psu's and offen replacing them with something more substancial resolves any and all issues. unless of course the failing psu has caused further problems when it let go... and yes motherboards do fail and yes occassionally one might be faulty straight out of the box, as already stated shiat happens. there have been folks who claim starforce does this and that i am not going to go there, and i understand anyones hesitation to install such software but on this occassion: i think it fairly safe to say that the association with FC/starforce and your pc problem in this instance is a little nieve, no matter how coincidental it may seem and it should by no means deter you from installing FC again once your pc is back up and running, it would actually be a great shame and a dis-service to yourself to not enjoy this game for such reasons. especially now you have the machine to run it, or soon will.... post your pc specs and model/brand and wattage of psu, that will help. good luck with the m/b rma, hope the cpu is ok :)
  18. what a great video, this is the first time i have seen actual lfootage of those bombs that have a parachute and then fire towards the ground. love how they seperate from the main bomb housing with such uniformity. sorry i have no idea of the name but are these the bombs that trick sam guys into turning their radars back on after the planes are gone, and therefor telling the parachuting bombs where they (the sams) are? either way, it a good vid and i for one appreciate your efforts, both in sharing and in adding the soundtrack, its pretty smooth also. some early test footage aswell, could watch this stuff all day.
  19. after months of waiting my sfs throttle finally arrived and i have been experimenting with its button programming and axis setup etc. i was unable to get it to come up as connected in game controllers until i plugged the sfs joystick into the throttle, i recall reading that somewhere. once i did that i created a custom joystick with 4 axis, aside from the gameport connection the throttle also plugs directly into the keyboard i/o port on the pc, the keyboard then plugs into the throttle, allowing it to work as a pass thru and provide the key mappings. there are many buttons and leds on the throttles base and at first a little overwhelming, but after studying the pdf manual on the cd i printed out the button layout and associated descriptions and then it was a peice of cake. basically there were red buttons with leds for: 1, throttle: axis single or dual input 2, erase: profile to erase an entire profile (four user selectable profiles) 3, program: to program a key command to a button 4, turbo: for rapid fire setup of buttons and then other leds to let you know what profile is active. it seems that the buttons etc can indeed be configured to mimic the pressing of multiple buttons simultaniously as i mapped the "mute audible warning" to a switch and we all know that key combo is rshift + n after calibrating the stick in game controllers i assigned the left and right throttle levers to the appropriate thrust mappings in game. the split throttle was interesting as the axis's's's' :) seemed slightly out of time, and one engine seemed to enter afterburner earlier thsn the other causing the plane to yaw. unless i can rectify this issue i can see me just leaving the 2 levers locked together and jusr relying on the one axis for both, as i mentioned above, there is a switch on the throttle that takes care of this. i was instantly amazed at the increased precision of my flying due to accurate throttle control, this will come as no suprise to hotas owners but it did to me as i was previously using the mouse :) and occassionally the throttle on the stick which is awkward to say the least. being able to feel the throttle position is a vast improvement over continually checking engine rpms etc. looking now to map all the other buttons, hats etc using the inbuilt key mapping of the throttle. might look at changing things around a little, having to plug the standard sfs joystick into the throttle is a hassle as i am now a big fan of my CH combatstick, its very nice... i guess i could pick up a cheap older set of ch rudder pedals and plug them into the throttle, therefore convincing the throttle it is still looking a the joystick. yes thats a good idea :) if you can find one of these throttles for a bargain, i recommend giving it try, perfect for the eagle pilots amoung us. thats it for now, hope you have enjoyed the update, any futher findings i will post here for future reference.
  20. bump, just wanted to bring this one back to ED's attention. please help if possible, thankyou.
  21. sorry dodger if i left you out mate, good job on the site. i was thinking if we do eventually get the export of tews, pacs, mfd's, abris, tv etc for use on external monitors/screens, would it be possible to have say the exported radar in the centre of a touchbuddy border of buttons? this would allow you to have say 2x 8" touchscreens, one either side of centre screen running lomac2f4glass instruments :) say the right one could display an operational TEWS with a bunch of buttons around it, getting rather close to a realistic functional instrument. hey i'm just the ideas guy :D
  22. i have to say this is great work on the f-15 profile ruggbutt, and not only yourself but zorlac and wbk also, i have been avoiding TB for a few reasons, one i have no touch screen and two i thought it would be very difficult and involved to learn. after looking at the TB forums i now realise that i have nothing to worry about. and that its also possible to hook up a touchscreen to the local computer on a dualhead videocard, no need for networking etc unless you desire to do so. the coding for the buttons and tabs etc looks amazingly simple, basically just tell it where to be, and what to do. and with the great f-15 profile all the hard work is already done. for me and TB, its now not a matter of if but when, thankyou.
  23. this is very interesting, i have nievely just gone with the latest available whql drivers from nvidia. i have a bfg6800 ultra so seeing others with this era card still using 80.xx series drivers is something i was not aware of. seems like the 84.25 release has the vote so far. i guess its far to say that although the latest release drivers are compatible with the older cards they are not exactly focusing on the performance of the older cards, more worried about quad sli etc. look forward to trying that 84.25 driver out, thanks for the info.
  24. corsair7662, its all good mate, i was just stirring:thumbup: iguanaking, have my parts, i mean those parts arrived yet?
  25. its hard to beat, and clear that everyones will differ to some degree. its hard to convince me without persuading me with facts. should have bit my tongue, ok sure i get your point... drives fail, thats a given. my point is that in my experience, which is long and well versed, a particular brand has been very reliable while another brand or brands have been somewhat less than dependable, sometimes deplorable, get my point. this was about personal experience, i am puzzled why you laugh at seagate. it would be interesting to hear if you only sell maxtors, :P or is that 2 maxtors a day failing just amoungst you and your friends :D lol seriously, it would be great using the high turnover of your computer workshop store, if you can check out what kind of failure ratio the different brands have, it would be most interesting to have some additional data to contradict or backup my own findings. no bias, lets say a list of the failed drives along with their capacity and manufacturer over the next say 2 weeks, look forward to it.
