  1. From the DCS Man: English is only my third language, but I read that as to indicate something different from what you say. Assuming that everyone has read and understood the manual, that might be where the common knowledge comes from. Thinking about it, the way you explained it actually makes a lot of sense.
  2. Assume the TGP is SOI, and a GBU 31 is selected. Now, is the SPI generated when I mash TMS UP or when the pickle buttom is pressed? This thread has both concepts in it. EDIT: I got sniped, hard.
  3. In some thread, I asked for the climb speed in the A-10, which was provided to me as 200, so the question doesn't ask itself.
  4. Actually, that post explains a whole lot, I seem to have missed the lines earlier. Thanks for putting it in straightforward terms.
  5. Sorry guys, I'm seriously confused now. Is lasing useless (i.e. no effect) or not used because it is not needed in the way it is best/usually employed? I always thought that the videos by ExcessiveHeadspace were common knowledge and the concept presented there makes a lot of sense, at least to me. Then again, post #13 states it is not done.
  6. That does imply that the SPI is generated only a relatively short time before the actual drop? (Edit: As in about before turning onto the attack heading)
  7. Who exactly do you mean with 'you'? Nobody paid to get support on the forums, and nobody pays me (or us, or anyone [i assume]) to spend free time here...
  8. Ok thanks :) Sounds like a little test flight is in order between installing an update and participating in a briefed flight (or wait an hour and read the boards lol).
  9. Some weeks ago, I started to put PostIt checklists onto my door which I look at every time I leave the house. Big-time list maker here, and used to checklists from the sim anyways. Now, no going out of the door before having read the checklists. One item actually reads "prep lists for next day". BTW: There are way too many car references in here.
  10. Is it becoming best practice to start with clean key mappings after a patch? I didn't have to do that for a long time, but searching for undocumented changes consumes time, as does re-assigning the keys.
  11. It's not essential, there's much to learn before it. But once you know how to use it, you wonder how you could fly without it before - you simply can't know what you're missing. I often create new flight plans, change waypoints, create anchors, IPs, with a bit of practice you can use it to set up weather penetration routes and custom glide slopes if you don't have one handy. It can be used to delimit a target area, kill box, no fly zone, SAM range rings (of this one is a lot of work, and can be done much better). It makes you know where you are (if you didn't know anyways, for some reason), and you can probably make it play music (ok I made that up).
  12. Addendum: My NWS wasn't bound at all. All other controls were just fine after the updater did its work (I didn't work with the configs manually).
  13. For all of you who like me notice this missing keybind only after joining MP: The keyboard command for Nose Wheel Steering/NWS is INSERT. I had to alt-tab and google after a real hard braking (yeah, I should have checked that the light is illuminated...). Did you notice anything else missing? I haven't so far, but only did a short training flight.
  14. \Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\A-10C\Cockpit\Resources\Model\Textures\A_10C_C_EDM_TEX.zip Edit: I actually have both files...
  15. Just flew my first 85 45HB2 (two dry passes at first to get the feel, then bracketed the target :) ) and am wondering about this: How much altitude can I expect to recover? I find that my SEMs are too inconsistent, but usually I end up at about 16'000 with 160 knots on the HUD, after starting from 17'000 at 240 knots. That seems sloow, and maybe too high...? Maybe I need to level off earlier and motor up longer.
  16. I'd assume that business interests could be affected by the contents there, and I think it's ok to hide that under these (reported) circumstances. Remember, we're guests here.
  17. Thanks sir! Yes I do remember that. Now excuse me, I'm off to do some due diligence on Bomb :)
  18. Adapting BFM techniques when driving a bike in city traffic might be an indication. Especially when the main concern of the operator is to maintain energy..
  19. Have people stopped playing too much A-10? Reading back things on the phone seems to be an uncommon habit, btw.
  20. Not since I play (2.5 years).
