Before DCS 1.2.6 update 2 better mountains!
Supersheep replied to Mainstay's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
You could downpatch (there's a sticky for that) and then use JSGME (sticky for that, too) to compare which files have changed in the new version. Maybe you can find one single cause and copy the files to the new version. BTW: That looks great =) Edit: Here you go: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=114030 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=98607 -
@SE: Do you mean the CBU and smoke stutters?
-
That is how it's done, since v1.2.something. Auto updater only checks once a day at start of DCS, though.

Worth it? You don't yet know what you miss... :p I'm very much with EtherealN here. I have a Qpad 50 (MX Blue) that I use as my main keyboard since I washed my rubberdome and thereby accidentally removed the silicon lube (or whatever) from the keycaps and the keys were very awkward to press (you got that right Feuerfalke! although technically, it still works :/ ). To try the different MX switches, I later got a Compaq (G80-11800LPADE, MX Brown) and a Cherry (G80-1851LPMDE, MX Black), both of which I got on the cheap (USD20? each) off Ebay and despite the price, they are good keyboards, too - you don't have to spend $$$ on it. Recently I acquired an Unicomp Endurapro (Buckling Spring), which is another, different type-feeling. You see, it's a slippery slope. Take a look at geekhack.org or deskthority.net for more info. You'll find plenty comments on the different switch characteristics that I'm not going to repeat here because they are very subjective after all.

Edit: I figured out that it is possible to add multiple company zones of the same type (i. e. vehicle) to one template. That answers the problem below. Can I make it to choose more than one of the multiple templates that are assigned to a node? On page three (just above the images) I get the impression that that's not the case, but just maybe... :) Thanks! Super-

Not limited to NavOps: More flexible AI that makes things fall into place by itself somewhat more. Example: Carrier+aircraft+tanker+distant thread =carrier launching aircraft that automatically refuel to engage the threat and to get back. Note: I'm aware that that's a bad example (doctrine, unintended consequences of the attack etc etc pp), but it should illustrate what I mean.

Fragger said he has an appointment with a Bundeswehr officer in October, and I don't think he allows him too many breaks anyways - give that man some time

Try a KC-10, then :D Joke aside, maybe the magnet came loose, if that is possible at all. -
Waiting for first discount on DCS: Mi-8MTV2
Supersheep replied to captainteemo's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Is anyone surprised by the sales? It's no secret that ED offers plenty of opportunitys. I don't like being quoted $60 for a AAA-Game after 18 months... but people are different. -
It usually takes smart people with complete access to the code to get things sorted. How can we armchair gamers say how't is? In the pub, everyone is the best soccer trainer xD Super-

Cross-posting here: Maybe DCS can get a telemetry system that automatically shovels usage stats, runtime variables and crash details to ED? Collecting for two weeks (and going) and then having a thorough statistically-minded look at it might help to keep tabs on stability. Super-

For every patch that i followed on the boards, there is a thread to roll it back. Does that mean that for every version, there are servers and players? I'd think so from the number of ppl sticking to one. Maybe DCS needs a telemetry system that automatically shovels usage stats, runtime variables and crash details to ED? Collecting for two weeks and then having a thorough statistically-minded look at it might help here. Super-

Could you use images from other platforms (e. g. Gazelle) that use the system?

I know the phenomenom and will gladly try the suggestions when it happens again. So far, the problem seemed to go away with time, usually some hours. Unfortunately that is not always an option if I only have "some hours" to waste.. Which makes me wonder: Is there anything involved that works with a kind of periodicity? Like (speculative!) a list refresh on the master, internet traffic routing changes, caching, or else? It appears to me that there is something going on that simply needs a rerun to work, but only reruns itself every couple of hours :/ If one knew where to poke, one could speed it up. Super-

On the board I (help) run, we have good experience not with captchas, but question-based registration. Nobody thought our boards worthy of paying humans to work them out yet. Changing the new member registration to that should stop this crap. Like: How many feet in a meter? etc etc pp
-
There is so much knowledge on these boards it never stops to amaze me. Thanks!
-
Did you start DCS before the patch? Auto-Updater only checks once a day (used to at least). You can call the updater manually.
-
I wasn't expecting it there - Ta!

The changelog reads "SAS and EAC switches fixed". What was wrong with them? (Why obviously, they were broken. But I mean how was this noticeable ingame?) Thanks and happy simming! Super-

Discontinuing Weekly Updates - Please reconsider
Supersheep replied to Cobra847's topic in Chit-Chat
Looks like I'm not enough on the forums lately. Or the last twelve months... Tells me I can keep it that way, knowing that I won't miss anything because my mail brings me the monthly newsletter. Great, actually (really, I see that as positive since it saves me time and concentrates the info). Ta! Super- -
Discontinuing Weekly Updates - Please reconsider
Supersheep replied to Cobra847's topic in Chit-Chat
What's such a big deal about moving/merging/instanuking the discussion threads? It's not like we have a constitutional right to post here, where in fact we are guests on ED's. Someone above said that much of the discussion centered around people's pet issues which they were obsessed to see addressed before all other things. I think that sometimes a simple "We're on it" or "Known issue" would be all it needs to stop this. Many official and semi-official posts go to great lengths to avoid conveying any content. I see that there cannot be a "it'll be fixed in vnext", just a "You can stop bitching, it is being worked" would do it. -
Jeez, post this in the Cit-Chat board if you really have to. /out

Why always erasing my settings with every patch?
Supersheep replied to Mongolf's topic in General Questions
Apparently, nothing should be and isn't going to be changed, ref answers above. If there is an exception to this, the usual first step is to reinstall DCS, which would get this out of the way.
