If you're talking about CPUs: I'm not exactly sure how they would optimizise it for AMD CPUs... Do they have feature sets that Intel doesn't? Multicore concurrency optimizations, on the hand, would be much appreciated by all. Edit - Seems AMD are having some problems with Intel compilers recently. Interesting. Hadn't heard about that before. But still, I don't think it's common for companies to compile .exe s for both cpus.

Mentioning Ubisoft as an example to support your point is a bad bad bad idea. Ubisoft and EA are publishers I, and many others, avoid like the plague.

The first video, in the comments "Just a video of me messing around in the shooting range mostly with guns and rockets". There seem to be a lot of people hating on him just because he posted a video of himself messing around...

Nothing wrong with Steam. It's usually the developers who stop supporting the Steam client verison of the game.

Great news, but with no ability to move modules over for existing users this is a real let down. The steam version also lacks some of the modules from the standalone. Does this mean users of the steam version would need a second install of the standalone to play these, or are these likely moving over in the future. Getting on Steam is a great move. I hope things work out. I'd love to use the steam version, but there's no way I'm rebuying every DCS module. :joystick:

Good news! Am looking forward to firing a few large rocket salvos.

I like the variation. I admit the P-51 doesn't really have much use, but this originally was an internal test project that they decided to release because people might find it fun to fly. I have all the modules now (P-51, Combined Arms, and FC3 in the sale) and having the ability to play with so many toys is great. It is up to mission makers to balance things. Keep things the way they are. Allow people to do what they want. If one era is more popular, teams will want to release modules for that era because they will sell fast. I think DCS has a bright future with its open door policy.

It looks like it's going to be hard for you to make it. Make sure you push news sources that cover these kinds of things. Rock, Paper, Shotgun does a weekly feature of kickstarter games - you may try there.

Yeah, Hover takes a bit of getting used too. It's pretty dangerous to use too, as if you get any AA heading in your direction it limits your ability to respond.

Not games, but modules. Add ons to the world. It's a great step forwards as it allows us access to more hardware.

High-altitude flying - check my reasoning
Slazi replied to Fishbreath's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
You may also want to check if you really need the two extra fuel tanks. If you avoid hovering you should be able to stay in the air for a fair while. -
BS 2 is for DCS world. Its a complete upgrade. Enjoy.

Lock On: FC3 - Unwilling to buy previous game

Found a used copy for 0.01 UK pounds deliver for 4 pounds to Japan. Guess I'm ordering after all! -
Lock On: FC3 - Unwilling to buy previous game
Slazi replied to Slazi's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
 I have the added problem of being in Japan. I'd have to pay to import something. I got CA and P-51D in the sale, perhaps that's enough for now. -
Is there any possibility this won't require the 2003 game at any point in the future? For me this is a huge barrier. I kinda want FC3, but there's no way I'm gonna spend $30 for some old game I'm never gonna play. I'm guessing this is related to licensing? Is this a common feeling?

Multicore in DX11 isn't really a priority. That's just the graphics. Most of the hard work is in the game engine. Assuming this is made in c++, c++11 has a ton of nice concurrency (multi-thread) features.

Picked it up with CA. Wasn't very interested before, but for the price it is worth it.

If you already have the Warthog stick you'll be fine.

Contact ED and see if they will accept a photo of the cd in your hand or something... You never know.

Instant mission KA-50 NATO side --> too hard
Slazi replied to Z4ng3tsu's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
When you generate instant missions, reduce the number of aircraft. Remove them all if you like. You can also play with the mission in the editor. Its a great feature if you know how to use it. -
Master Arm switch? To the left of the ammo display boxes. Make sure that points up for fun times! Press c and the trigger. If that don't work you have other issues.
-
Sorry, I can't offer much in the way of advise in that case then. Perhaps make sure you can still play BS 1 to check it is still installed and registered correctly?
-
Did you purchase BS2 standalone or an upgrade from BS1? Make sure you have the right module downloaded.

Engaging targets - auto pilot channels?
Slazi replied to Megagoth1702's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I'm guessing unguided rockets are a ton cheaper than the vikhr missiles. Use them for RP reaons. When doing rocket runs, you shouldn't feel guilty about launching large salvos instead of 1 or 2 individual rockets. I sometimes load up 4x20 rocket pods and set my salvo size to large. Overflying troops or convoys isn't really very dangerous, and letting off all the rockets in one pass can do a lot of damage (unfortunately to your frame rate too in the current version). Anti-Tank rockets on the other hand.... I have a lot of trouble using these effectively against resonable tanks. I always tend to take damage from their machine guns and sometimes main guns. So use rockets! They are fun. Especially when the enemy are in the trees. -
You mean the gpu not the cpu in the second sentence right? The smoke does seem to be causing incredible frame rate hits in DCS right now, there's obviously something very wrong somewhere. I went from 80fps down to three after firing a salvo of rockets from my shark this morning.
