Quick UTM Coord sample problem (omitted zeros)
Evil.Bonsai replied to mooshim's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
After a short mission I ran yesterday, at this point I'm thinking a string of random numbers might be just as good. I can post a track in a day or so, but the location jtac gave me wasn't even close. It was at least 3kI off. After 'mark on deck', even with f7 I couldn't find the smoke. -
Quick UTM Coord sample problem (omitted zeros)
Evil.Bonsai replied to mooshim's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Better that than make a new one. I was having this same issue yesterday. Couldn't figure it out at all. Co-ords were gh36497. Then, I think, I had a 'random' fail with cdu: I couldn't input ANY characters except for wp name. None of the other entries would work (elev, utm, coords). I ended up quitting, turned off 'random failures', searched for this issue then went back in to re-play mission. Got it THAT time. :\ -
I just press F1 to go to internal view then F2. The first plane should always be yours, followed by wingmen. I would like to see an update to the views, however. It would be nice if when viewing allied aircraft their callsign would show.

Co-worker was a crewman during 1st Gulf war, Alconbury Vultures. He was telling me that they did originally load 3 mavs, until they noticed the launches were burning the tires.

I have it setup to use s3 as modifier. The only buttons not setup double are the trigger and weapon release. Sadly, I can't use IFF IN as it interferes with SPD BRK forward. I leave IFF OUT blank so as not to confuse myself. I set up the kb arrows for steerpoint up/down and it worked ok. I'll have to check on the 'force correlate'. I know it's an option, just haven't delved into it yet. Went to office max yesterday to look for the right paper. Going to start printing sections of the manual so I can reference more in the cockpit.

Yeah, got to figure out where to map the UFC switch. I'm using a TM Cougar and all but 2 buttons (that I can't use) are mapped. I don't use keyboard much except for views and radio, might try setting up/down arrows to needed UFC buttons. That just might work: shift throttle hand over to arrow keys on keyboard, keep stick hand on TMS Up.

Group activate with fire at point.

Any chance you can post a .miz with just this? -
Sorry to bring this back up, but after reading several threads, I've not found an answer. I swear I saw a video that showed a line of targets with maverick as soi. First vehicle was targeted, mav locked and fired then it jumped to 2nd target in line, locked and fired and so on. Am I mistaking this for the TGP as soi, in that each vehicle was marked (I believe they were stationary), a mav was locked to first and fired then spi jumped to next target, repeat lock/fire? Was this 'jump' to next target auto using mark points or was that just someone manually selecting next markpoint and mav slaved to spi? Everything I've read here and in other threads pretty much indicates that what I thought I saw isn't possble. I even thought it was in the mav training mission but it wasn't in there either. :/

No vote; I view the pdf on smartphone. Will likely, however, be getting that spankity new Kindle tablet when it comes out.

+100. I'd think IRL, the pilot might have specific profiles uploade from tape (that goes with them from plane to plane if needed?) and not have to create new ones each and every time? Too bad we can't have our 'own' plane that's setup a specific way and we could just choose it when creating a mission. I under stand the need for being able to set specifics each and every time but it does get tedious with some things. As an example, I hate either having to turn on all the internal light settings to how I want or turning off the flood settings for in-flight planes set to a default value.

It works, sorta. You can definitely toss it 'backwards' but it doesn't go very far in that direction. Just do a loop, then release when you get to 50-45 degrees while still pulling towards ground. Just tried it several times. The loop itself is way larger than the toss distance.

Doh! And here I thought it was a failure mode.

Do you have 'random errors/failures' button selected in settings? Had a front landing gear collapse on takeoff couple days ago. Also had a right engine fail to start, properly. cycled it off then back on and then it started ok. Was driving me nuts trying to figure out what I did wrong and then remembered I had random failures turned on.

I myself don't understand the confusion. I've lived many times near air bases. I'd run outside and look for them as one type of fighter or another boomed overhead. They'd usually be a mile or more away. Not always, as they do move fast, but most times I'd spot them zooming away.

In which sim did you spend most of your flight hours?
Evil.Bonsai replied to BKLronin's topic in Chit-Chat
I'd go with either Falcon 3.0 or 4.0. Probably F3. Also: Tornado, EF2000, Janes Longbow/LB2. I'm sure DCS: A10C will surpass them all. I've wanted a dedicated A-10 sim since back when the F3 series was supposed to include one. -
Hehe...after the 'safe' at end of video, I was expecting the view to slew over to the enemies...and incoming fire.

Was thinking of AFAC missions the other day as well. Was trying to find a way for the player (ie me) to fly an OA-10C AFAC mission (single-player). Is it possible for the player to IR mark targets? I see we can buddy-lase but not sure about IR-pointing. I also realize that a mission like this might be difficult for the player to perform as any Allied a/c is just going to start targeting on their own.

0.o /also use Cougar. Boat switch for me is the dogfight switch. China hat is IFF hat down/up. Sadly, my Cougar has issues with IFF right and Speedbake FWD (early model with misaligned speed brake switch). For some reason these two switches interfere with each other's signal, so I leave the IFF l/r blank and just use the speed brake fwd. Comms I do with keyboard. Downloaded aprofile here somewhere. I believe it was called Viper's Cougar profile or something like that. I did make a few changes after download, though, to account for my HOTAS' setup/functionality. Use RANGE for zoom and ANT for rudders.

I've found, with regards to training, is that watching everything you can find on youtube really helps. Check the 'screenshots and videos' sub-forum for missions posted on youtube. Especially this guy: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=77202 Also, as I've seen it said, don't try to learn everything at once. Concentrate on learning each system separately. Start with weapons first then start on the more complicated systems. I'm about to setup a simple mission with several JTAC callouts, with static groups, then use some of the techniques RodBorza uses in that link above. And then practice, practice, practice. :) Me: F19 Stealth Fighter, Falcon3, Tornado, EF2000, Longbow, Longbow 2, Faclon 4.0. Geez, I remember when Microprose TEASED about doing an A10 in the Electronic Battlefield series. Been waiting ever since.

excellent vid and walkthrough. I've been having issues with the yankee base mission and following some of your procedures here should help me a lot. Thanks for taking the time to put this up.

I'm the opposite. I can't cross my eyes (so these images look a bit jacked to me) but I can de-couple my eyes, so that left eye looks straight and right eye looks straight.

The first pic looks awesome. I do have a concern with the second pic, however. The trees show shadows falling back (towards viewer), but the rocks in the foreground show shadows to the right. Is that just the ground texture or are the normals actually showing another light source from the left?

I use the steam version. I've tried adding custom a10c skins to no avail. Tried two ways: adding custom .dds files to a10.zip along with liveries folder with .lua file. Also tried adding custom .dds zip file with edit of graphics.cfg. Neither one seems to work. No custom skins show up in either pilot log or adding planes in mission editor. I've read that the 'key' for steam will work with the ED download version. Gonna dl those files and attempt new install outside of steam. NM: found it under weapons loadout

[SKiN] RTAF-Camoflage-Skin
Evil.Bonsai replied to MOTO's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I broke down and registered for the gray_agressor skin as well. However, I cannot get it to work at all. Copied the file and folder to their respective locations, edited graphics.cfg created a new mission but the only a10c's available were the country liveries. Anyone have an idea of what I am doing wrong? Thanks. NM, found it in weapon loadout. -
