  1. I'm betting that if you're watching closely with the tgp, you'll be able to tell the difference in behavior of an AI unit and human controlled unit. Just the few vids posted here show a marked difference in movement compared to AI.
  2. Wow, didn't even lose right MFCD or CICU?
  3. After many attempts at IFR landing, usually flying way above, left, right and sometimes trying to fly under the runway, I actually landed without crashing/blowing a tire/blowing up in general. Here's a short crappy vid: Note: I have a nice .trk file that needs conversion but I've had issues. The settings in Record AVI in mission editor only have one setting that actualy works for, uncompressed avi. The other settings I can't get to work in any way. I only converted the last five minutes and the conversion from .avi to m4k so that youtube would understand it left me with some weird sound errors. Someday I'll figure it out, but it won't be today.
  4. It's there. Do a search and you can find more info about the LOD model. I believe there's even a fix available.
  5. In mission, I orbot about 10-15miles out from target area, then search with tgp. If JTAC available, contact for target info. If a mission is just setup to a certain waypoint, I'll slew tgp to that point, search and designate, then ingress. I've yet to be able to get familiar with using HUD TDC. Usually I don't see threats until I"m over them and looking out the side window. At that point, I'm more concerned with EGRESSING, then using tgp when at a safe distance. Hmm...maybe I should try setting up a mission where a flight is in front of me, just so I can do this.
  6. I guess it would be nice to have something in game, but there are more than a few youtube videos of just that. After watcing a couple, it's pretty easy, actually.
  7. I've done this previously. Placed a track radar in a central location, and two launchers (in the same group) near the outer range of the radar (20-30 miles, maybe? I forget). So long as the radar could track my plane AND I was in range of a launcher, it launched. Also need to make sure that launcher and radar are part of the same group. A sneaky trick to do this in a public mission. Some poor pilot will see the track radar, think "let me fly over here, away from that" then fly right into a launcher that is part of that group.
  8. Thanks! I was not aware of that. Gonna have to try it out, now.
  9. I'm pretty sure this is incorrect. When the 97/105 were first modelled, the default HOF was off so that the bomblets failed to function properly. An update changed the default to 1800 to give the parachutes time to deploy, the rockets to ignite and the bomblets to fling out correctly. I am pretty sure that setting an HOF of less than 1800 will probably cause th 97/105 to fail. Unless this has been changed in another update.
  10. In general, yes. In the training mission, you basically exit back to the training screen.
  11. Just tried as OP posted: got a miss with mav on "civilian traffic" targets in mav training mission. Did not try in mission editor.
  12. The one I setup just before my post was at 7K, 70kts.
  13. Works perfectly well. Though out of 3 tanks, after 2 dead by gbu-12, he sent me on my way.
  14. I will have to look into this. I've never used labels, but I certainly have issues finding targets at times, even when flying over them. I see tracers but that camo works really well :)
  15. Hehe...I did that last week at Amazon, and a new set of pedals was at my door 2 days later! :music_whistling:
  16. I noticed that too...a lovely F-15 paired up with our venerable A-10C and P-51D. Hmmmm... And yes, another great trailer with excellent music. Great job, guys!
  17. I'll try this. I have been flying with no hud or cdu. Made a mission in fog and have been practicing staring at instruments on the front panel. Guess I might as well change the rudders. Just feels weird. Had mostly used my Cougars AntElev knob while flying Longbow/Longbow2 and later Battlefield 2 Helis, so turning knob forward (push right pedal forward) was turning left, etc....since I've been doing this pure flying only last several days, might as well get the pedals right. We'll see how it goes. :)
  18. I guess this sim provides for everyone. Me, I just point the nose at the runway, then slam her down when I get there. Bang the toe brakes, throw hands up in the air. "MADE IT!" :joystick::cry::joystick::huh::D 'course, that doesn't explain why I made a foggy morning mission and practiced learning ILS all last night..
  19. Do you use your cougar for a10c? Ive been using the ant. elevation knob for rudder. Now that I have the pedals, Im wondering what to do with that knob.
  20. I will play with the curve a bit. Just attached them today and flew one mission, so still have time to setup a mission for just taxi, takeoff and landings. I figured I had it backwards, but every time I try it the correct way, I get confused and end up turning the wrong way, then tying too hard to get back to where I wanted to go. I guess so long as it works for me, no harm.
  21. After flying sims since early 90's, I finally broke down and purchased a set of Saitek Combat Rudder pedals. This was in lieu of me possibly needing a new flightstick/throttle (still might, but won't need it for now. Thrustmaster got back with me and will be sending me a y-axis gimbal for my Cougar). Wow...these things are a bit hard to get used to; well, first time use, anyway. I do like the individual toe brakes, makes for keeping straight on the runway during landing a bit easier. Takeoff was still pretty tricky, though: I was all over the runway. Question to those that know: I've always set up rudder controls (keyboard, stick slider, et al) in such a way that when I pushed a key/button/etc, it was as if I were pushing on the nose of the plane. For example, I set up my pedals so that when I push on the right pedal, it's as if I'm pushing the right side of the nose, and moving the plane left. Is this opposite of how they should work? To me, this just feels 'normal'.
  22. "Hawg1-2, Hawg1-1...Engage with Armor at m....Dude, are you NAKED!?"
  23. My hillbilly fix is actually much cheaper than that...I stuffed a piece of foam between the rubber boot and lock-ring. It actually works. The tension isn't as high as moving it forward, but it's actually not bad, for a broken flight-stick that is. We'll see what the guy from Thrustmaster says about getting a new gimbal, otherwise I'm just going to break down and get a warthog.
  24. It's not just the post. That whole quarter broke off. What I'd like to do is take the spring out. The boot has SOME tension to it, might keep it from falling forward or backward when I take my hand off, and that will at least even the tension out. I emailed the guy that does the 'uber' mod, so we'll see how that works out. Update: skip the uber mod. $400 for the gimbals alone.
  25. Thanks all for the suggestions. I'll search more for 'mods' see if I can find any with the gimbals that ISN'T going to cost nearly the same as a new Warthog.
