No limits on the jammer use. However, it does appear to have a timer of some sort. I've not looked into it too much, but it will shut off after a minute or so. It's not a SEAD implement, in that you turn it on and it stays on providing radar jamming the whole time. It's more last second "Holy s#$% SAM SAM SAM! OMFG Somebody help me!" sort of thing. :)

Thank you, ED!

I think I finished the smerch hunt mission in less than an hour, maybe? Really doesn't take that long. And yes, it does depend on mission. There's a mission you can download that Think takes up to 4 hours to complete successfully. Border patrol, I think? I haven't tried it as I've yet to be able to complete an air refuel.

The only SAM you need to worry about is the big one up north. There are two ways that I've successfully completed the mission. First, Stay SOUTH of the river, and high enough the AAA and MANPADS can't get you, at least 16-18K feet. Do all your targeting/setup while orbiting south, then go straight at your target when ready. Drop your ordnance and then turn back south. Keep your JMR active if you get a launch, and turn back south as soon as possible. The 2nd way is WAY more fun and VERY tricky.Using the TGP, find and mark the radar site's radar antenna. Now, drop to water level (as in, you will be swimming if you take your eyes off the screen) Once you hit land, stick to the tree tops, but avoid the buildings. Now, to get the fastest, positive lock with a maverick (I'd HIGHLY suggest the IR model), you need to get a bit close to that radar. I won't say 5 miles, but certainly less than 10. Once you think your in range enough, pop up, lock the mav to radar and release weapon. Dive back down and turn, keeping as low as possible without hitting the ground. Once you take the radar out, the launchers will just sit there as they won't be able to do anything. Now, go back to the river and take out the targets at your leisure, but still stay high over the AAA and MANPADS. There was a tutorial here someone posted of this exact technique, which is where I learned it. Before using these two techniques, I think I got the third bunker before getting shot down. My first completion was using the avoidance technique and staying south. Then tried it a 2nd time and took the radar out. It was exhilarating!

1. Enter hostile area ONLY after you have already identified threats and how you're going to deal with them. 2. BEFORE #1, use ALT HOLD (autopilot mode) and circle around at least 10-15 miles outside threat area. 3. use your tgp to look for threats. If you don't do #2, this is going to be real hard to do when you're on top of them. 4. Your mission waypoints should be set up so that at least one of the waypoints is in the general area of where you expect the threats to be. Use your steerpoints as SOI for slaving the tgp to, then start looking around. 5. JTAC and CDU: learn this system! No, really! Once you get how to enter mgrs/ll/offset co-ordinates, you'll wonder why you didn't learn it sooner. If I were at home, I could provide specific examples of how to learn jtac/cdu stuff, but just search for jtac, cdu, or offset help/tutorials. Once you do it a couple times, it gets real easy.

One thing I found odd, since only 'cirrus' clouds move, was that while flying yankee base mission, there was a big, low, fluffy cloud that MOVED across the top of the base's mountain, just as you would expect a cloud to do. It looked really cool! Wasn't expecting that since it was a cumulus cloud and not cirrus.

Found the ip on a post at simhq. Tried it a bit last night. Seems WAY unstable. First software crash I've had since using Win7. Happened a lot. Kept trying, though. I did manage to get in for a bit. Wasn't too much to shoot at, though I did happen upon a FARP with a Ka-50 spinning up. A maverick took care of that. :) Sorry player "john" :p Was able to get back in for a lengthy ride today. Sadly, the only thing getting killed were 'buildings'.

Patch 1.1.1.0 for DCS: A-10C Warthog (English) Released
Evil.Bonsai replied to pvtkramer's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Ya know, I liked being able to click on the steam icon and easily select DCS A10C. However, it was so easy to just download the install files and install separate from steam. When steam catches up, I might go ahead and re-download that version (if steam doesn't do it automagically) when it gets bumped to 1110. In the meantime, I still get to play it! -
Is there a secret handshake? I don't see any '104th' or simhq on the servers list.
-
I just did a comparison and mostly 1110 tgp appears a bit brighter with more contrast. Water, unfortunately, still appears to be hotter than most vehicles. :music_whistling: The first thing I noticed was that now the N arrow is more apparently pointing north.

I got hit by three manpads this morning on defend camp yankee. The only thing that seemed to work was the hsi/adi and the wobble ball. No ILS, CICU, CDU, EGI. Both wings had holes, flaps didn't work, FM radio was out. Was able to call ATC for vector home. After slowing down, and dropping gear, I decided to look from outside: no wheels on any of the gear. Turned just off the runway, pointed down and ejected. At least my wingman got to land ok.

1. cirrus clouds look good. Took a quick view from the base of a TV tower. Both tower and clouds look very nice. Still looked a bit weird that the lower clouds weren't moving, but the cirrus did look nice. 2. cbu 97s: just wow. 3. tree shadows look really nice (I was new to 1109, never saw previous versions) 4. it really is a lot darker at night 5. new radio sounds are nice; more clicks and static 6. I always had issue with the tgp N arrow. Could never figure out what I was supposed to be seeing. Seems to have been tweaked a bit: now it's quite clear where it's pointing.

Just checked the install folders, the new manual is in there, in the docs folder. I haven't gone through it, but there's a new date on the intro page, 17-0ct-2011.
-
Nope. As a matter of fact, it appears to be an older version than the one I downloaded. The intor page shows 22-may and the one I downloaded a couple months ago is dated 6-jun. Probably be a while before a new manual is released.

Works fine for me.

Patch 1.1.1.0 for DCS: A-10C Warthog (English) Released
Evil.Bonsai replied to pvtkramer's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Mine worked out ok. Didn't change anything and it all seemed to work just fine. Steam 1109 to ED 1110 Couple questions: I posted one in the tech question forum regarding the 97s but I also am now wondering if I did not uninstall steam 1109, and the ED 1110 is apparently using the same 'save' folder, will there be issues? Should I go ahead and remove the steam version? -
I'm sure every one of the A10s in service would look plenty used. So long as the dials turn and the buttons click, it's good to go. As to the above picture, should've rotated it 180 degrees. I've never seen the left console while standing on the boarding ladder, so it looked REALLY weird when I thought it was on the right side of the cockpit. A better view :)

Interesting. Also see that 'our' Kopitnari does NOT have the Russian bomb damage (bombed by Russia 2008.) http://g.co/maps/bku99

Those the extra-fluffy kind? I like those, too.

Wow. First of all, than you ED for the great sims you've created. I personally won't be buying any BS titles as I have no interest in that particular bird. I have wanted a serious A10 sim since Microprose teased about it (and never delivered), and now I have it! I do look forward to any future additions for the A10. And apparently unlike more than a few here, I will GLADLY give you money for providing me with something I'd like to have. Again, thank you. Jason aka Evil Bonsai

Call for air support when bandits near?
Evil.Bonsai replied to Megagoth1702's topic in Mission and Campaigns
IF there are other flights present AND they show up in F10 AND the mission creator was kind enough to include the frequency (yes, there is at least one mission where frequency isn't listed; also, one of the missions doesn't tell you you're supposed to let a couple armor squads know it's ok to move...or what frequency they're on), I will use F10 just before IP , circle a bit until all flights are inbound or engaged, THEN head into the battle area. A question regarding AWACS: what does BRA, mean? (NM, found this: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3320440/Re_How_to_interpret_AWACS_bull.html#Post3320440) -
Maverick Force Correlate - the ultimative mode?
Evil.Bonsai replied to Megagoth1702's topic in Bugs and Problems
I had one the other day, where a mav-d was taking WAY too long to lock, finally did, then I launched. Just as I did, I get deedledeedledeedle...OH CRAP! Missile Launch! Oooo. gonna be close. Then Mav hits, deedle stops and sam goes off into the wild blue. -
The video you linked is the same video in post #1.

Great video and music. I just recently learned of 'trailer' music, though apparently I've been a fan for a while, though from movie and game soundtracks. I was thinking your composition fit right in that genre. Good stuff.
