  1. So...without using zoom, you're saying the A10C mav is 3x but the A10A is 1x, then when zooming the C's have 6x and the As have 3x? I don't have the A version but I do know I only have one level of zoom.
  2. I am no expert, but the consensus seems to be to put the target off to the side (midway between nose and wing is a good starting point). Roll over until the target is directly 'above' and pull into it. Once your nose is pointed at target, roll back upright, place pipper on target, let 'em go. This one is pretty good:
  3. Which is what led me to make the statement. OP was asking about how it functions in the SIM, and not IRL. It's nice to know real-world information, sometimes, but it doesn't answer OP's questions regarding the SIM. It may be a bug, as previously stated, but to contact JTAC in the SIM you do not need to be LOS. And for JTAC to report a target, it DOES need to be LOS. I personally find it frustrating when someone asks a question regarding the SIM and someone starts putting out real-world information as if the SIM actually functions that way. It can be very confusing to new players.
  4. it's pretty fun. Open the ME, put about 10-20 trucks (something that won't shoot back) all next to each other, load up your plane with as many Mk82AIRs as you can hold (drop the fuel to about 25% for extra weight-room), fly about 100ft off the deck, and pickle pairs for half your load (since you're dropping two at a time) at 50ft intervals. Watch the booms!
  5. I see it as this: I'd assume in real-life JTAC would stay out of site or line of fire. So any vehicle in the sim performing JTAC should be made 'hidden', since you can't really tell them to hide.
  6. Nope. JTAC only works if they can see the target, otherwise they'll just say no tasking available. And how would you 'relay' to another a/c? The only way I can see doing that is in multiplayer. Certainly no way to do that in single-player.
  7. Nope. Works as I said. Just tried it with JTAC on one side of mountain range (or large hills). My A10 was on the other side and contacted JTAC just fine.
  8. In the mission briefing, does it list the mission score as 0? I was pretty certain that even if you exit a mission part way through, it will progress to the next. This has frustrated me in the past, as I've messed a mission up, but then moved on to the next. I stopped using the campaign screen and now just open the missions in the ME, then play from there.
  9. Er...wrong. If there is no frequency listing, the mission designer may have failed to include it. If you know there's a jtac but need to find the frequency (I've even seen a mission with the WRONG frequency listed), open the mission in the mission editor, find the ground unit that is acting as jtac (might be hidden, but can be unhidden using the group list), most likely a single vehicle by itself near the enemy. You can click on it then check the advanced waypoint properties. Frequency should be in there. You do NOT need LOS to utilize JTAC. However, for JTAC to provide a target, the JTAC must be in line of site to that target. JTAC has to see target. You do not have to see JTAC.
  10. That is correct. And no, you don't have to pay $20 for it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lock-On-Modern-Air-Combat-Windows-8-7-Vista-XP-95-98-Computer-PC-Game-/300938414170?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item461153c85a
  11. Classified. Your interest has been noted by NoSuchAgency.
  12. For simple SAM evasion, try using a single (or multiple) Tunguska, SA-9, SA-13, or MANPADS. These are IR units. For RADAR units, you could try SA-15 TOR, SA-6 KUB (2 units; STR-search/track radar, and LN, launcher) Many of the RADAR units require mutliple units in order to function (launcher, search radar, tracking radar at minimum)
  13. one of the coolest things I ever saw was the ordinance oscillation in Falcon BMS
  14. Are ALL DCS World objects/weapons under ED, or are some, depending on which aircraft/weapon, assigned to third party developers? It was previously posted about the Minigun M134 not working. As far as I know, this is only a pod that can be attached to the UH-1. However, I do not have the UH-1 Module, but I do have an issue with the M134 not working in DCS World. Does this issue need to be brought to the attention of BELSIMTEK due to their development of the UH-1?
  15. Yup. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=78825
  16. I've had a TM Cougar since that stick came out. It's got a few issues, but it is SO MUCH better than trying to use a less functional setup. I also, fairly recently, bought a set of Saitek combat rudder pedals. Oh, and TRACKIR is probably the greatest of all three.
  17. I was able to get the m134 miniguns to work. I tried out a Hip8 with various gun pods and they worked ok. One of those was a guv yakb gshb that had 3 gatling type guns, and they worked ok. I scoured through a bunch of .lua files and found that the russian gatling guns were controlled by gas and the m134 minigun was by rpm (electrically?). I also found that the "fire by rpm = true" means that it only fires when MAX RPM is reached. I could not find a max rpm setting for the m134 but did find some spinup/spindown numbers. I was thinking they might affect the max rpm reached (even if I didn't what that number was), so I played with those a bit. Didn't work. I then changed the fire by rpm to gas fired. Now they fire, majestically. I'm guessing either some math is wrong in one of the .lua files preventing max rpm from being reached, or the max rpm number was changed causing it to be unreachable. or MAX RPM was removed, thus causing it to never work. dcs world/config/weapons/aircraft_gun_mounts.lua Original: gun_mount_templates["M_134"] = { gun = dbtype("wGun", { rates = {4000,2000}, max_burst_length = 3200, recoil_coeff = 0.7*1.3, barrels_count = 6, fire_by_rpm = true Modified: gun_mount_templates["M_134"] = { gun = dbtype("wGun", { rates = {4000,2000}, max_burst_length = 3200, recoil_coeff = 0.7*1.3, barrels_count = 6, gas_driven = true
  18. Thinking it may have been a quirk of an old mission, I opened push8-1, saved it, then added a new flight of F16A SEAD. Even they weren't saying anything.
  19. Thing I don't get is, with a simple mission, AI can drop 2 MK82s onto a tank, using ccrp (level flight, anyway) from 10000' and have those two bombs land immediately on either side of that tank. I try the same thing and my bombs end up 100' away.
  20. I need to try this. Do the CBU's fly up out of the HOF then back down into the HOF? The resolution was a bit low and couldn't tell. Seems the canister would either not open if released below HOF or open immediately. Will have to try this later.
  21. This is what I do. Land, find the closest taxiway to park. Pop canopy, ask for refuel/rearm, close canopy. When done, head for runway then takeoff.
  22. You can try, but didn't work for me. Dropped four right on top of ammo depot. Maybe if you hit it just right.
  23. just tested it out, all that's needed is 1 gbu-27. In my test mission, 1 f117a to deliver it.
  24. Yes. Those are hardened and take large amounts of damage to destroy. Discussed many times.
