  1. I've been seeing that for a while now, as well. Posted about it a couple weeks back. Not entirely certain but think it may have started with 1.2.4
  2. A .trk file would be helpful. I just setup up a basic mission and all worked as it should.
  3. This I did not know. Thanks.
  4. Heat blur is present but dissipates above 50 kts (mph? whichever is listed in f2 view). I watched a KA-50, CH-47, CH-53 UH-1H, and UH-60A takeoff and they all had heat blur until their speed increased over 50, then it wasn't visible.
  5. You are trying to access the file in a 'locked' folder. If you installed DCS into the default folder setup, you likely installed it into the protected area of windows. I get this all the time when changing .lua files. Just copy the file to your desktop. Make the changes you want and save it on your desktop. When done, copy the file and paste back into it's original location. Then you should be good.
  6. My favorite sim of all time was probably Jane's Longbow 2. NOE flying the blackhawk at night with NVGs to spot in the middle of no where, drop off a spec ops squad, make it back home with no one the wiser was great fun. Also pretty cool to pop up over a ridgeline in an AH-64D, get a radar picture, drop back down, set up 8 hellfires on an armored column (with AAA), and launch. Unfortunately the DCS AI is completely incapable of flying like that. Instead of 10ft, they prefer 1000ft.
  7. I'd say join whichever MP server has the lowest ping (and at least a few other pilots) and just enjoy. It really is pretty fun, even w/o teamspeak, etc. You will learn to startup up your plane. You can practice good comms (ie, set radios, contact ATC request startup/taxi/takeoff), you will hear others doing the same (hopefully). MP is pretty fun. Just be courteous of others, follow the rules, and you'll be ok. :)
  8. Just to clarify, for any future forum searches, you can view which runways have ILS in the mission editor. They will have the long, white triangle extending from the runways. Some Have ILS in both directions, some have one, others have none at all. Some bases will have the inner/outer beacons as well as ILS, some have just the beacons, and some have none at all. Just scroll around on the mission editor map and you can see which ones have them and which don't.
  9. Yes. You can WATCH a trk file from a module you do not own. However, it will be like any other plane you do not have a module for, in that you will watch from outside the plane in F2 view. You won't be able to view the cockpit interior, or take control directly. You can move from watching a track file to watching a mission in progress (same as if you made a mission without a player pilot)
  10. I used ILS last week, it turned on when I switched to the On position, and off when I moved it to OFF.
  11. Shouldn't that say "last EUROPEAN squadron" deactivated? There are still active squadrons here in the US and Korea.
  12. HOW are you selecting the gbu's in the air? It makes a difference, and it was one thing that confused me until I learned why. If you go to your profile page, use the up/down osb to select a profile and change your settings that way, you need to do it the same way to select them when in the air, or use the dms (tms? I get them confused; lower left on stick) left/right to select a profile. If you set up a profile and save it, then later go back to the weapons page on mfcd and click on an osb to select a weapon, then you will be back to default values. Hopefully that makes some sense. I'm very tired and at work, so can't look this stuff up to explain better. There is a thread around here that explains it. Setting up profiles, as opposed to just selecting a bomb and changing it's settings that one time, is very useful.
  13. Exactly! There was another A10 flying with me, but we weren't on TS or anything. Not sure what he was doing. I got bleeped hard and dove for the ground. The bleeping "29" went away for a bit. I leveled out and looked over my right wing and there was the f15. I have no idea what he was thinking. Just wanted to try flying formation with an A10? Maybe he had the Iron Eagle soundtrack playing too loud and couldn't hear the RWS...
  14. At this point, it's a known issue that JTAC isn't all it can, or even used to, be. Many times JTAC will not mark the target with smoke, laser or IR pointer, even if there is a clear view.
  15. Very cool. Now when I have some pesky Su-27 that keeps shooting my A10C down, I can load up an F-15C, take him out, then go back to my regularly scheduled CAS ;) And yes, I WILL probably have to do that. Was flying last week and had an F-15 flying in formation on my A10s wing! We were getting pegged by that "29" radar and I was using the chat to try and get the guy to go after it, but he just sat there on my wing. We both got taken out.
  16. Cool video of A10's refueling over some sand and mountains.
  17. I've seen some odd behavior as well. Basically the HUD spi indicator will say 270 and point left, so I'll turn that way, then when it gets to 180, the spi indicator is directly in front, then jumps to the side of the hud and starts working normally. Weird.
  18. Yup. The B is the only one I'd be interested in.... ...zipping low-level through a mountainous pass, slow, take a tight left-hander, land on a hidden FOB; refuel, rearm, launch a surprise attack on a column of unprotected (by air defenses) armor.
  19. If you are using the mission editor, it tells you the gross weight. Online, I don't believe that's possible.
  20. If the mission maker did not change the setting, 150.00AM is the default frequency, so that would be your best bet if it isn't in the mission briefing. If the mission make DID change it but did not list what that was in the briefing, might as well not try.
  21. Post a track file. I just tried it out and it worked just fine. Should be able to cycle through the positions: down is off, middle is test, and up is on.
  22. Like heavy cloud cover, night time provides relief from manpads. Just ran a quick mission, flying at 6K feet. During clear day, got four manpads, at least, up the backside of my GEs. With heavy clouds, not one shot. Cleared the clouds and tried it at 2300 (11pm): same as clouds, no shot.
  23. when you turn on TRACKIR or use 'center', sit, or move your head, a little closer. This will allow you to zoom back a bit when sitting normally. If you want the same, or as close to as possible, view you get w/o trackir, you will have to move a bit when centering so that when you sit in your normal location, the view will reflect that. Try this: move your head about 6 inches (15cm) forward, hit center, then move back to your normal position. your view should now be fairly far back. Now, sitting normally, move your head back the same distance, hit center, then move to your normal position. Your view should now be zoomed in a bit. WHERE you are when you center affects where you are AFTER centering.
  24. Is one pic w/o trackir running at all and the 2nd with it running, or is the first merely 'paused' via trackir software command?
  25. Move them part way, but still out of range of enemy tank missiles. I move my two armor groups into the closest group of buildings as I work to take out the enemy tanks. I even re-wrote one of the missions to re-spawn the apache that bites the dirt in a hurry.
