  1. Very nice. Issue I had previously was dropping them 5-10s apart, but when the first hig, I'd only have a few seconds until the 2nd hit. I had some armor placed on that X, a little farther apart than yours. I'd get partway to next target and 2nd would hit. Thinking physics, the first bomb drops slightly slower, since it glides over a longer path. The 2nd one is falling more steeply, so I think it falls a little faster. So even though you release a certain time apart, with the first slowing down and the 2nd speeding up, the actual time between impacts is a bit shorter than the time between release. That and your 2nd bomb tracks the same target as the first, and then a few seconds to impact starts to veer towards 2nd as you move your laser.
  2. Active Pause doesn't count. Without the plane moving, you could probably drop all of your bombs and lase separate targets. Doesn't work with plane actually flying. The problem being you will over-fly your target, and bombs don't fall backwards.
  3. So, Darkwolf and Robert, exactly how many times have you done this that it is completely doable or not attempted correctly by me? Post a track or it didn't happen. I once thought the same way, but after attempting it found out how wrong I was.
  4. No, no it isn't. I've tried. Numerous times.
  5. I would say, learn how to use the divert page to find the closest base, in case of the need for an emergency landing. It will provide frequency for ATC, ILS, and runway direction. Learn how to enter jtac coordinates in both MGRS an Latitude/Longitude (LL). If you always start in the air, you don't need much more than that. I HIGHLY recommend learning ramp start, which includes turning on the CDU and letting it align properly. If you make it to a multi-player server, you will need to know how to ramp start, contact ATC, taxi and takeoff.
  6. Ok, I watched this, and to be blunt, it sort of hurt to watch. Your startup procedure is very incomplete. A few things I noticed; now this does not prevent you from firing your mav's, as they will work just fine so long as they are activated and locked onto a target. Your HUD issue stems from your very incomplete startup procedure. Some will disagree, but ALWAYS wait for your CDU to align BEFORE moving your plane. An advanced scenario would be to scramble your jet and get airborne in the least amount of time, then start and in-flight alignment and go from there. Without explicit instructions on how to do this, I wouldn't attempt it. From what I saw in your .trk file, you are not quite that advanced, either. So, ALWAYS let your CDU align before moving your plane. I never saw you activate your oxygen supply, or turn on your pitot heat. The oxygen isn't going to affect your systems any but the pitot heat will affect your speed and altitude readings (not quite that simple, but should still always activate it) You turned on your TGP and Mavs before you even left the ramp areo. I'd wait until airborne for either of those. You also never activated your JTRS. Again, this might not affect your HUD settings, but you should still activate it, in my opinion, during your startup procedure. You also never changed to EGI, activated the EAC (which you would not have been able to due to not letting the CDU align) or changed your radar to ALT. I think this also messed with the HUD settings. I tried to change HUD modes but I think due to the CDU alignment not being completed, it wouldn't let me. I was able to find a target, lock the mav and fire it, but the HUD did not show the usual cues. Again, pretty sure this is due to not letting the CDU align. I'll post my own procedure shortly. it is an abbreviated/combined start up procedure I've developed after following several different start up procedures. I believe this gets everything done thatt's needed in the shortest time and with the least amount of head movement (I use TRACKIR) to get me airborne as quickly as possible. I sometimes fumble about a bit, especailly when trying to find what base I'm at and getting the correct radio frequency to contact ATC for requesting START UP, TAXI and TAKEOFF. After I am airborne, THEN I start activating combat systems (laser, master, tgp, Mav EO, etc) edit: added .trk file of MY startup procedure. It works for me. This might not work IRL, but in sim it's fine and gets done what needs to be done, by the time it needs to be done. lmnop.trk
  7. They do not time out or degrade, as that isn't modeled. the REAL mav's will timeout, though and degrade as they start to warm up and on-board batteries start to drain (I think?) In practice, you should only activate them just before you start using them, but in the sim it doesn't matter.
  8. Talking about several different tasks here. First off, WHAT are you trying to pickle? GBU-12, AGM-65D, CBU-105? The only way the TGP can 'lock' a target is when you set it to point mode, as opposed to area. Might want to review the flight manual, starting at page 325. And, as always, a trackfile or it didn't' happen :) Seriously, provide the trackfile and other forum users can easily tell you what is going on.
  9. the video does show something 'wrong' in that it appears you are not in the right mode. However, the video doesn't help much in solving the issue. A trackfile would be much better, as posted previously.
  10. I believe he meant the F10 map, not the TAD. If it were the TAD, then yes. With the f10 map, you look for a target, write down the coordinates from bottom, then enter those into CDU.
  11. Air to Air in an A10. Makes no Sense. Yes, that is correct. for the AIM9, you need to set it to search, or just be REALLY precise in putting your aircrafts nose right on the threat. Once the seeker sees and starts to 'whine', pickle it. Do you have the -131 loaded? Should be set to on if you're setting up an airstart mission.
  12. If you can provide a track of short mission where you're attempting to fire off the mav's, it would be pretty easy to help you out. As it stands, just sounds like you might not be doing it correctly.
  13. What were those 'features' you were bombing? Looked like bullseyes. I haven't checked the ME lately, but is that a static object you can add?
  14. MLRS rockets do the same; like a bunch of mini-cbu-87s.
  15. I tested this a while ago, and yes, if the mines are close enough, one going off will set off the others. I don't remember exactly how close they need to be. I did have a couple on either side of a road and when one went off, so did the other.
  16. Skeets look fine on my end. Just watched one in slow-mo: canister popped open, 10 skeet carriers in 5-pointed star formation. Parachute descended. When close to ground, parachuted went away, skeet holders popped out and the whole thing started spinning, then ascended a bit. Skeets ejected and flew out horizontally. Then little beams of laser fire ripped several APCs apart. Had it running at 0.125 speed. Very cool. And yes, F6 won't track them after cannister opens. I'm ok with that.
  17. JTAC is only going to tell you about the targets it's setup to tell you about. If that specific group of targets doesn't exist (ie, already killed by other allied flights), you'll get a 'no target' response. But, unless 1.2.4 made great improvements to JTAC, they could be having coffee with the enemy and still tell you there's nothing there.
  18. I'm ok with most everything else, but using the programmed radio channels is one area I've not learned. No real reason, just haven't bothered with it. I realized it might make things go smoother when switching to other needed channels, but flipping the numbers isn't that big a deal to me.
  19. By asking for ground power, you skip needing to WAIT for the apu. Unless there's some kind of bug where you actually have electrical power before the APU has stabilized. I've not actually tried that but would be interesting if that's the case. You SHOULDN"T be able to turn on the APU generator as soon as you start the APU and have power.
  20. Actually, you can finish everything you need to and still be waiting for alignment. I routinely finish startup in about 3 mins, then spend a minute or so birdwatching, waiting for "4.0.0.8" to show up.
  21. I would agree. I always open and save mission files in the current version for that very purpose. OP hasn't stated whether or not it's an old mission or if he set up a test in current version. This is why I think there should be a banner at the top of the forum:"Track file or it didn't happen." ;)
  22. I don't see how version should change startup procedure. I started with 1109 and I've been starting up pretty much exactly the same, with just a few changes to order depending on what side of teh cockpit I was looking at. As to HARS/EGI, isn't it always been the same where you had to let CDU reach 4.0.0.8, then click EGI, then click EAC? I've always done it in that order and other than newbie issue of not holding pickle, never had issue with -38s. As to the -12 not hitting target with the target in the TGP view would mean the laser isn't on OR maybe altitude too low (not sure of that one, but possible I think). We can say "do X" and OP could be telling us he's doing "X", but without a track file we can really only guess what's going on.
  23. post a track and we can tell you exactly what is wrong.
  24. reminds me of this: http://www.snopes.com/science/cannon.asp "Use thawed turkeys." :)
  25. Hehe...thanks! I think I managed this twice. Maybe I should try it again.
