  1. this looks good
  2. lots of tutorials on this board. I'd say stop by the pit builder section and do some reading: https://forum.dcs.world/forum/181-home-cockpits/ It's not going to be a waste of your time. As MAX said, Helios (https://github.com/HeliosVirtualCockpit) is not required to export screens, but it makes the process of configuring the export so much easier.
  3. yes, with older modules you can have MFCDs exported to different monitors. coupled with Helios you can make your second monitor into a functioning MIP. as of now, export is not implemented on the F-15E. I hope it is going to get added ASAP
  4. I hope this is added soon. much needed
  5. hmmm... yes. it's been 2 months since the preorder started. and yet it's not here. "alarm bells are ringing, Winston"
  6. This is very sad to hear. I really enjoyed following your journey a lot. Best wishes.
  7. You have as many as you need. As long as I can clearly explain to the owner from what to what I need the measurement to be taken
  8. these are out of actual F-15 I couldn't get a full set so these will be used for measurements and modelling . as soon as fedex finds the shipment ...
  9. looks great! awesome to see that you bothered to do magnetic switches despite the fact you only need to touch them once a flight
  10. Measured from the floor. The tape has both metric and normal units on it for your convenience:)
  11. T-38A. I think it's close enough to your asking. I relayed your question of stick length to the owner. will ping you as soon as. had I seen your request week earlier I would have gotten the measurements first hand... side console is 40" long from porkchop to bulkhead . EDIT: no, they don't come factory equipped with a CDU throttle position
  12. Happens to me as well . When it happens I take it as a sign to clean and re-tin the iron. I do tend to clean regularly during work sessions so usually I can preempt.
  13. What measurements are needed? ..
  14. Good to have you back Gene. I'm gearing up to do the strike eagle variation and your site was very inspiring . Looking forward to see your progress
  15. Just came back from a visit. Year has passed, few direction changes happened. But it looks like we are on the way. Testing the seating and the HUD eyepoint positions.
  16. I obviously cannot know any better then EightyDuce, not even going to argue that. your made it absolutely clear how you personally feel about userbenchmark . with that I failed to understand your take on actual data. is it erroneous? or fraudulent? or irrelevant to DCS? Title of this post asks for a CPU recommendation specifically for purposes of DCS. I might be not the most up-to-date on all the development of things, but I know that DCS still relies heavily on single core. I also know that DCS does not follow precisely the performance trends of general gaming. So far Intel was the CPU of choice because of measurably better single core performance. I see a claim above that it is now AMD that holds the lead in DCS. So i'm naturally curious as to how that claim is substantiated. I have no idea if DCS relies on cash, if that cash indeed helps things in DCS - great.I went a page back in our board, I'm failing to find that substantiation. Can you by a chance point me to a thread that is something a long the lines of "I went from intel xxxx to AMD xxxx and I see better performance" ? I managed to get myself to click on the "gift to gamers" and scroll to his charts ( I have allergy to stupid YT faces). indeed it seems manufacturers are trading blows in games that I do not care about. its great, happy for both, I am a shareholder of both companies. but I missed the part where he compares DCS performance. any chance you can link to a comparison that is relevant to our discussion?
  17. fair enough and I will not argue otherwise. but I was hoping to see some sort of comparison that demonstrates that. I did spend a bit time reading our board and again I'm not finding anything that conclusively suggests AMD is now the CPU of choice for DCS. I'm sorry UserBenchmark pooped in your soup . can you suggest a better comparison?
  18. My work monitor is business grade Dell that runs IPS panel at 60hz (5120x1440). I spend long hours staring at it and I love the sharpness and color. no special eye fatigue. DCS looks great on it as well, although it only used for testing purposes. My main sim uses pair of projectors that are, again, 60Hz and I love the visuals I suspect the quality of panel/monitor is your issue, not 60Hz. It might be how they were set up in store , but EVERY fast "gaming" monitor that I've seen on display has sh...t colors. for me Color > Refresh rate.
  19. here is a quick comparison that I pulled, seems apples to apples. Any chance you can explain what makes 5800x3d the choice for DCS ? to me it looks like intel still retains single core performance lead. am I missing something?
  20. Did I miss AMD catching up to Intel as far as single thread performance? honest question, I was under impression intel is the CPU of choice for DCS, didn't keep u on development to much
  21. total budget? what parts do you already have?
  22. Oh no, no, no ) the Logitech controller I'm very well aware of what it is. I was drooling over the 5500 set for long time. I was referring to the box in the closet
  23. That's a solid start.
  24. Some nice old school cases right there. and a nice h-ifi thingie on the left , whatever that silver device is
  25. If you want to show it off then on desk, it will be prettier, especially the new RGB glass cases. If you are all function guy and don't care about aesthetics then on the floor, it will be quieter. you will need to blow out dust either way sooner or later. To clean I blow it out with compressed air outside. this probably should happen more often... My PC lives on the floor, behind the desk, on elevated podium to reduce the valid dust comments above. out of sight, out of mind (lights are usually off on that one). We just built a PC for my older one. he enjoyed picking parts and building it so he put it front and center on his side of the desk. I have a suspicion he is going to get a RGB memory kit for Christmas (and I'm going to take his 32GB kit, muhahahaha!) My Flight PC lives in a retractable shelf in a DIY "rack"
