This is why a lot of people are pissed, as they really have no alternative and just have to suck down whatever happens.......its frustrating to be in that situation for many people ......plainly some others dont care one bit how they are treated by people they spend their no matter what happens....

My bad, I was confusing your log and mine, my log stops at light pallette .tif not found .......what is this? Suggests it is a missing file, but presume it must be part of the shaders it cannot compile? On another note, I tried following a guide to roll back the version using cmd prompt but could not get it to work.....

The thing is, it’s not “just a game” for a great deal of people here……it is an all consuming hobby and obsession that we pour a huge amount of time and money into, not some Xbox 360 title we just pick up idly to while away an hour or two…..plenty on here make their living from it even…….so stop with the childish analogies…….

To be honest, I am a pissed off with being called childish, whining, and worse by people on here who should know better, simply because I have expressed, quite articulately and reasonably, my annoyance at what has happened……..all you guys saying “ it’s fine, no problem, I can wait, this is perfectly normal in the world of software “ - I am glad it does not bother you, but it sure bothers a <profanity>load of other people, whose opinion and viewpoint are just as valid as yours. There are some people here who would be defending ED even if they had some kind of malfunction whereby the licence system to use your modules broke…… crazy…….. this is bad customer service, pure and simple and as customers we have a right to bring it up without being patronised by by company fanbois…..

No, you miss the point entirely…….of course I can fly one of my other modules, but I wanted to be flying the F4 today! I am upset that a company that I have supported and been involved with for over 12 years did not manage to pull off a trophy release 8without a needless drama & pissing off a lot of its loyal clients. I am upset that they don’t have a system in place to test and make sure that what they have promised is deliverable, both in terms of timing and features. Heatblur did their bit, and ED dropped the ball on theirs. There is nothing worse than promising something then not delivering. Maybe they should re think giving dates and instead test, test and test and then release when they are sure it’s all good…….far better that way. It’s the being set up then knocked down that hurts…….

I just looked on my account in the DCS E shop.......3 pages of it.....58 purchases.....If you average £30 per product ( some are more, some less) Thats over £1700..... I would say I am a good customer and have a right to be pissed off.....

Sorry, but why all the excuses for what is plainly a giant balls up at ED end....? They are a BIG company and you dont NEED to be a big company to have good processes in place to make sure your product is delivered on time without quality issues. Millions of small businesses around the world can attest to that. I should add, I am am a huge supporter of what ED are doing, buy all the modules and maps , just to support them, as we have NO other choice of sim to fly really. Which is why I think this hurts a lot of people as its a pattern and to happen on this release of all releases just feels like someone does not care.......

Sorry, its not alright......people are entitled to feel very upset and angry about this....... They should made teh release standalone anyway, why tie it in with a load of other stuff........

Been away this weekend, just tried again, repair and running both ST & MT. Hangs in same place. How do I roll back the DCS version? Might as well try that.....

Thanks mate, I did the page file thing, see other thread, but no difference. I just dont understand why, if it was an issue with the VRAM, I was able to run and use the machine ( not flying missions , but with no issues running mission editor...) for the last year or so with no issues ...this only started happening a couple of months ago now.......

I tried opening caucusus new mission in the ME and the log file shows a different error, see enclosed......Opening syria still shows the same log error as before.......just wondered why they were different? dcs.log

Hi, I had a thread here: In which we tried to identify why my previously very happy to run DCS in mission editor mode laptop will now not....... I was hoping I could get a definitive answer regarding the machine specifications and why it used to run it fine and now wont? I have also doubled the ram since the issue. I cant do anythi8ng regarding the VRAM. Can anyone from ED say for sure that a recent update would have rendered the machine ineffective to run DCS? As if so, it is effectively useless to me, mission editing being its primary useage. Which is a shame, as it is a decent laptop otherwise..... It does seem strange to me that it previously had no issues running the game. It starts DCS fine.

Oh and forgot to ask...this mission (Fam flight) does not seem to be broken up into the component exercises for ease of practice........should it be?

Ah, really? the change log for the last patch said they were in..... ? If they are not, then I guess same question applies, will I need to start again to get them working?

Hi, despite buying all the campaigns Reflected has made for the F14, I have not yet managed to devote sufficient time to actually playing any of them much at all. ( Lack of save points does make it difficult to maintain interest in replaying right through to where you messed up each time.....hint ED!!!!) I am making a concerted effort to go through Speed and Angels. I am updated but when I tried mission 2 of speed and angels agains yesterday, I did not seem to have the updated checklists.....do I need to start the campaign from scratch again to get these?

It's not about it being a sightseeing trip, its about having the immersion and belief of a simulated reality interrupted or suspended by poorly implemented scenery features.....

Hi Holger, I wish that you would make available a “hires” version for those of us who don’t mind the space it would take. The map has great potential but currently let down ( as are all the DCS maps) by this lack of detail. I would also be happy to pay more for this. There are a significant number of users who have the storage space and computing power to run a more demanding version…….Or maybe consider splitting off the western area with the lakes and fjord cliffs as a sepately available hi res package? The other area that would benefit greatly from improvement is the transitions between texture variations…….. it really kills the effect when there is this terrible obvious demarcation line. Is it not possible to do a blend texture to avoid this?

Well if there is to be no changes to the present system, then maybe the question or wish list should be : Can ED be more open and upfront with its customers regarding updates/ bug fixes and features releases to both in house and 3rd party modules and the core game. I think this would generate much more good feeling and go a long way towards easing the feeling that a lot of loyal customers have, that they are being a little bit taken advantage of. There seems to be some people who entertain no criticism of the current situation, which I really do not understand and seem prepared to cut ED as much slack as they want..... ( so fed up of reading "what do you think EA means???" ) I think we would mostly agree that somewhere in the middle exists a place where we would all be happier. Customers like to feel they are being listened to. I know ED is not obligated in the least to do this, but I think they should be more open and honest about the roadmap for updates etc going forwards. They must know what resources they have in terms of coders and artists etc and where these people are working and how long what they are working on will take....whats wrong with sharing some of that with us? We have put up our money after all, which must count for something.....as we are reminded at each press release....."Thank you for your passion and support"

The problem I think is the current business model is not sustainable long term......there is a limit to how many modules people will buy and a limit to how many there to make still....If we want ED and DCS to survive and grow going forwards, what is wrong with being frank and open with the community that buys the product about how it goes forwards? Its clear ( present troubles if we are to believe the conjecture, are an example) that the lack of known, regular income is starting to hurt...you cant rely on external developers producing stuff at the required dates and state of readiness regularly enough to make accurate financial forecasts and plan your cash flow. I would be very happy to pay a subscription as long as it had added value and clarity on what you get. The world changes and business need to change with it, sad fact of life.

Of course it’s our problem……whatever the truth of what is going on behind closed doors, it’s a fact that cash flow, circumstances and the market can often give previously viable and healthy companies big problems…….and sometimes, they close. Not saying it will happen and of course I hope it won’t, as personally I have invested several hundred pounds in their product - however you should realise that if these problems occur, what we have now won’t exist. Short of all going back to Falcon BMS, we would be fooked. So it’s our problem. If we all want a decent combat flight simulator to fly in.

Hi, I primarily use the Apache in my Helo sim pit…….decided to use the Huey and Blackhawk mod the other day and found that ONLY with these ( maybe others, but only tried with these two) the axis was the wrong way round, when set the same as the AH64…..no problem I thought, just invert the axis……however, this makes no difference and whatever I set, the axis is reversed……. what could possibly cause this?

I am having some hardware issues with my jet seat and thinking of supplementing the vibes with some additional transducers. Last year I added a single sub woofer to my main sim pit and it works well.
