  1. OK, found a solution, if you are a Rhino user. Turn off FFB trim implementation in special options. Turn ON force hardware trim trim options in vpconfig and voila, no differential when switching cockpits, stick still moves when trimmed as previously
  2. Really cool, many thanks!
  3. I dont care what he is called, more interested in the functionality!
  4. I wondered if we could ask ( nicely, again) if HB can look at the issues with FFB joysticks and trim. I run a Rhino stick base ( As do quite a few people now) and if I go backseat and then front seat, my stick violently deflects up and I have to dial a whole <profanity>load of trim to get the stick back forward and the jet level again...... I dont understand why this happens, as when I leave the front seat, I have the jet and stick nicely trimmed. I dont see it move when I occupy the rear, yet when I swap, its as if its lost completely the previous settings. I also dont understand the behaviour, as when in the reat seat, the stick will move depending on what the jet is doing, IE the sim does not realize that I dont have a stick in the back. I would have thought that when you swap seats, the stick should stay as it was and not move until you swap back? Can someone from HB or anyone who knows, explain why it behaves how it does and how easy or not it may be to sort out? This may also be tied to issues with auto pilot when using the magic carpet system for a hands off carrier landing....on handover in close, it pitches the nose down and into the sea you go...... Thank you
  5. As per title, I know you should not fast forward etc , I am simply watching tracks, doing nothing. Is this normal? these were tracks recorded today on the freshly updated install. Can crash before the track starts or when its finished, not during the playback. Any insights?
  6. Sure, and I was just stating my opinion, for a discussion, and of course, I expect other people to have a different opinion. Thats why we have a forum, to have interesting discussions! Fully agree, persistence would probably only be sensible in a campaign ( think I said that above anyway)and Heatblur are of course going to model their product as they see fit.
  7. You raise many good points , , but mostly confirm what i was saying.....it would need thought as to how it is implemented of course....but if its just some more accurate damage modelling and system interlnking, my thought was its a whole <profanity>load of work for not a lot of actual things people are going to really notice.......seeing as we already have an option for random system failures
  8. Hi, would it be giving too much away ahead of launch to answer the following question: Will new improved Jester be capable of doing something like carrying out an intercept profile ? I mean working out from the radar where me the pilot needs to fly and instructing as such? And will the Jester improvements see similar upgrades to Iceman's ( or whoever he is called in the F4) capabilities? If so, what can we expect? Thanks!
  9. Circling back to my original question ( as we seem to have gone a little OT here!) am I the only one thinking that while it all sounds amazingly detailed and cool, I kinda question exactly how its going to make the sim experience better.....? Perhaps I am just querying the no doubt huge amount of work thats gone into this, but what will the average user notice? Just asking......To my mind it would be "better" if we had a simulated aging and wearing out persistent jet, which really would be something new.... In fact more persistence full stop in DCS would be good!! You could have different jets allocated to you for each theatre for campaigns etc.....obviously this would not be a feature for instant action, or training, but it would be cool in certain scenarios....
  10. Ha, no....some additional information....the GUI window for the XR necksafer app I use has shrunk in size to the point where the text is barely readable on my desktop. I am unable to make the GUI box bigger in the normal way by hovering the mouse over the edge until I get the double ended arrow and dragging it to a larger shape. Before the changes, the GUI box was maybe 3 times larger. The GUI box and text in the TELEM FFB app I use for my Rhino has increased in size, conversely........This is obviously linked in some way to whats happening, but I have no clue how......
  11. Hi, bit of a left field question, but here goes....... For all the time I have had the Harrier, the text in the warning lights displays has always been small and not easy to read. I did find a mod to help with this, but it seemed to make no real difference. Today, when I started my PC, I noticed all my desktop icons were spaced out. When I tried to move back to the previous positions, I could not get them to stay closer to each other. Anyway, I flew a multiplayer mission using the Harrier and straight away when in the DCS splash screen, I noticed text seemed larger and the white mouse dot was at least double in size to its usual. In the jet, once started, I noticed that the warning lights text and text in the NAV/ AG/ VSTOL windows was larger and clearer than usual. And the MFD text also seemed larger, but not as noticably larger as the warning lights. I have changed nothging,. there was no windows update when I turned off the PC last night. I am not complaining as teh changes are good, but what can possibly have caused this? Where is the text size / resolution written for the Harrier and how could be tied to some kind of change on my desktop? Screen res of my monitor is unchanged and I also checked the app size, it seems unchanged at 100% . I would be really interested to understand whats happening here and why.....can anyone help? I can send a screengrab if it helps.....I am flying in VR BTW
  12. Hmm, thanks. It was definitely on before, as I had just finished a flight using my Quest Pro when I tried to connect the Q3. I should not have had to do anything in the mobile app should I?
  13. So recently my wife got a Quest 3. I have the Quest Pro and now want to do a side by side comparison. Easy you say, just add the new headset in the Oculus app......? However, when I try and do this either using air link , or cable, I just get the circle going round and round , both in the desktop oculus software and in the quest 3 when I try and connect via the headset menus. Any idea why this is happening and how to achieve a connection? Thanks
  14. Yeah, I got that and get that. But its hugely useful
  15. Very nice work, thanks
  16. I hope this may help anyone who needs a kneeboard reference for these procedures Edit: Added some notes regarding datalink set up and checks for 2 ship operation AH64 Datalink & Target sharing.pdf
  17. You have clearly not heard of or flown with a Rhino FFB stick.........the best bit of hardware you can buy for DCS.....waiting list is around 6 months, they cant make them quick enough, sales are that good. It does everything you describe above and more.
  18. Hi, I am intersted in how the system will work, with components & things failing after time and wear cycles etc......Does this mean that the jet we start to fly will be persistent and age over time and according to the hours etc we put on it? Or will it be like the forge system and you get a randomized snapshot aged jet each time you spawn. I think the former would be really cool, kind of like the air to air simulations aircraft did in FSX way back when. If not then it strikes me as a whole lot of work and system modelling that wont be used in the real way it is supposedly modelling?
  19. No, this is not an aircraft specific "feature" ....In SRS, you have volume sliders with a centre, left and right position for each channel. so you put slider to the left so channel 1 comes out the left ear in your headphones and vice versa for channel 2 & the right ear........its incredibly useful when flying multiplayer or multicrew so you can easily tell which radio the voice you are hearing is on....
  20. After all the work put into this, its almost there....but 1 glaring omission is the ability to fade each channel, so you have box 1 in the left ear, box 2 in the right ( Like SRS has !!!!!!!!!) Currently it is impossible to tell which freq someone is transmitting on.........surely a basic feature? My buddies and I have been really trying to use it, but almost every flight, there are issues....someone cant hear everyone, another can only hear whats transmitted on one channnel etc....... Can this be sorted ? Or we are back to using SRS.........
  21. So I am lucky to own a Rhino FFB joystick and am looking to build some different profiles for each of my modules, to try and replicate as best possible how the stick responds as the jet is flown. Ideally answers to questions such as these: The jet has a FBW system - does the stick have constant force through its range? What are these forces, IE i sthe stick quite stiff? Does it return to centre easily ? Do stick forces vary depending on AoA, G and speed? Does the stick move to a trimmed position like in the F5 for example. Does anyone have any answers to these questions or can point me where I might find such? Thank you
  22. No because OTT will supersample the whole rendered scene, QVFR only renders a small part at the increased rate, so giving performance gains. You could possible gain even more by ONLY using QVFR if you needed the extra headroom.
