  1. Hi, thanks for the suggestion, but thats a bit next level for my abilities....I was thinking that the number of shells and the time they are all fired in must be written somewhere in lua and If you could work out where, maybe edit the existing values ?
  2. Did this ever get improved? Is it possible to edit a .lua file somewhere to change the shell spacings and duration?
  3. Hi, I am trying to work out the best way to generate some cool artillery barrages and explosions. I started off having actual units and giving them waypoint actions to attack a group or fire at a point. However, have since discovered that this can generate quite a CPU overhead... I found this guide: where the guy says that using "fake" artillery is a much more CPU friendly way. He uses triggers and the "shelling zone" action, which seems great. I have some queries relating to this, first one is regarding the damage scale - how does that work? Obviously 0 is no damage, but what would 50 for example do? Does it work on a radius or what? And can you edit the frequency of the shells, as they all seem to come fairly quickly...which leads to...... Second one is more complicated.......this relates to time. Can you make this function repeat and better still repeat at random times using the random condition? And how would you make it work with several zones and randomise the shelling into these zones? Just have many triggers? Which seems a bit cumbersome.... Many thanks
  4. Hi, as title, obviously playing with a human wingman etc , all of these features are hugely useful. How many of them are functional and indeed useful when using an AI wingman please ?
  5. Sadly, still the same issue....but thanks! I guess something in a recent update has changed and it will no longer play ball on this machine. Very irritating as its much better working on a laptop at a desk for mission building than sat in my simpit
  6. OK< so I have done as suggested but it still hangs at Terrain init: 1 vti, as before. This is strange, as like I say, I have been using it to make missions on for the last 18 months with no issues, it has always coped in the past. I guess I am fooked then!
  7. Hi, yes, its an old laptop, that I only use for mission making on, but its always been OK up until now? Will try the page file thing, I just increased RAM on it from 8GB to 16GB, so hopefully that helps as well......
  8. Being a 2 seat ship, will the Warrior have a version of the above AI to help with the workload?
  9. Never had this before, today while coldstarting I entered the greyscale adjustment sub page. When I came out, my IHAADS display had changed, it said FLIR in the top left and there was a box with a crosshair in the centre and a heading tape across the top....... I could not work out how to get it to return to the normal IHAADS display. Can someone enligten me? Thanks
  10. Hi Flappie, sorry for the delay, I have enclosed the log file as requested dcs.log
  11. This would be a huge benefit……so many times I have simply not bothered to carry on with a mission as I can’t be bothered to replay the same 30 or 40 minutes (or whatever) again and again while I figure out how to either not get killed or do something. Is this ever going to be possible? Or is the way DCS is built precluding this?
  12. Hi, quick one, each of the units consits of various different sub groups and units. When placing them, how best to organise them in terms of formations and movement orders? As I am fairly sure certain units will move slower and also different terrain etc may affect the formations? ( Not sure how!) Thanks!
  13. Thanks Rudel, but this is on my laptop, that I don’t use for flying DCS with, just for working on missions etc when away from my sim PC. So no oculus software.
  14. As title, I recently updated my DCS on my laptop, which I sometimes use for making missions etc on. I had to re start the update a few times due to intermittent internet connection but it eventually completed OK. However since then, although DCS starts, I cannot get any missions, or instant action etc to start, what happens is that it gets to terrain init 1 vti and just hangs..... I have run a full repair twice but this has not helped...... Any suggestions please?
  15. Hi, I have inserted one of these into a mission, loaded with hellfires and set it as ROE weapons free......it does not seem to engage anything, is there a trick to getting it working? thanks
  16. @amarok...if you fancy hosting such a live training, I would be keen to join it......
  17. Hi, today, I hosted a server for a mission for my mate and myself, we have done before with no issues. Today however, he was not able to find my server, either by name or by using the IP.......He could connect fine to other servers and I could connect to him if he hosted......... What would cause that? Thanks
  18. Thanks, was doing all that but it was not working...
  19. Hi, looking into using this as a useful tool to add to my normal missions, like being able to jump into a unit and act as JTAC for a buddy flying a helo etc. I am testing it out with a simple mission, with a simple group of 2 tanks and 6 APC's following a basic path......first issue I had when I started and jumped into the lead vehicle, all the rest of the group stopped moving......so I jumped in another and the vehicle I was in previously stopped and the others stayed stopped....I have clicke don them all and in the GUI box bottom left, they show as "not active" and if I try and alter the speed slider, it just goes back to zero.......WTF? I thought you could just jump in and out of any vehicle and when finished they just carried on on their assigned path etc.....is this not the case? In the manual I see you need to start the mission as a type of command role and all units placed must be able to be driven to be controlled....does this mean that unless you make and start a mission from scratch as a combined arms missions, that you wil be unable to to just "jump in" to a unit ? I mean, do you have to play combined arms only, or can you use the facility within a "normal" DCS Mission? Assuming of course you have previously made all the units driveable and set the role. Does doing this limit your functionality to fly an otherwise normal DCS mission, IE start, fly, carry out a mission and land in a conventional module? Finally how does combined arms work alongside something like Olympus?
  20. Hi, just using a mission where these are installed and you are instructed to turn them on. Have entered the extra fuel quantity , but am unable to make the un solid circles by each of the fuel page MFD go solid? What am I doing wrong? Thanks
  21. OK< had a look at the mission. Something strange is going on. Some of the groups start to move, but not all the units in the group. Then they slow down, and then stop....Some of the groups never start moving. After about 10 minutes, I cant see anyone moving. I dont think its related to terrain as one of the groups not moving is placed on a large main road and no routes involve difficult terrain. And its both sides, red and blue.... Any ideas what would cause that? Going to try now with the FARP removed
  22. OK, Thank you for takingthe time, I will likely just have to start again as removing the mods may not be easy...It was a friends mission and as far as I know, the mods are just related to the rather nice FARP. Building missions can be an exercise in frustration! All I want is a nice realistic battle going on, with units moving, shooting, artillery etc... Thanks again...
  23. Hi, you have probably seen my recent posts relating to getting a ground engagement mission going. I have spent a long time today making the enclosed mission, but nothing much seems to happen. the various units are supposed to advance to contact and engage, I have set all weapons free but have left it running over 2 hours now and only a couple of the groups seem to have moved and there is no engagements occurring....I cant figure out why..... Would someone who understands these things better than me take a look? Many thanks FOB_PERTH_Special_Operations_Command.miz
  24. Really helpful, thank you! If I may expand on some of those points: If a unit comes to a river it cant cross, will they just stop or do they move down to the nearest crossing point? I discovered they can move through a wood no problem, what about steep hills / mountains, how does that limit their travel and does this vary depending on the type of unit? So there is no way to make an infantry unit apart from placing say 50 individual soldiers in a group ? Is there such a thing as mechanized infantry? Can you direct me to a script for the infantry loading etc? Do you have any other tips etc for making some realistic ground war scenarios? I want to make a background battle that I can engage in some CAS using my AH64D. Is there a way to quickly jump to individual units apart from cycling through F7? And to keep track of group status and damage etc? Thanks again!
  25. Hi, I am making a mission with a "Ground war" going on and realised that while I kind of understand how to build missions with Jets, I dont really understand much about the ground units.....so I have some basic queries to hopefully save me some time: 1) When placing infantry, are these individual soldiers ? Can you place them in units such as a company or section? Or do you need to do each and every individual soldier? 2) Following from 1, how do these operate? I made a group comprising some tanks, some Bradleys, a couple of SPG's and then some infantry and a couple of mortars - like a Mech battalion, around 25 individual units. I can give them waypoints, but will they advance at the rate of soldiers walking? 3) What is the "logic" for them engaging the enemy? Obviously infantry IRL would use cover etc if engaged, at what ranges will they detect the enemy and how do they do this? 4) Is their movement affected by the terrain? Can they cross water for example or must they use a bridge? I guess in a way, I want something like Company of heroes going on, but I think the reality is a little different isnt it? Does teh fact that I have combined arms give me more flexible options etc? Thanks
