  1. Thanks, I am just learning how to use the FCR and in this case, was masking behind trees and buildings to avoid an SA8. At first Inthought it was happening because the radar was still masked by the buildings and trees, yet despite rising to 250ft height, (and then getting shot as a result!) I still had this message ……..any ideas why in that situation?
  2. What does this mean ?
  3. Cheers Fred, although I am not sure I have it understood fully in my head......You are saying I can add the controls pages for each jet in the relevant aircraft folder in saved games. I get that, but the issue there is they are among all the other pages and it means a lot of scrolling. We have multiple tabs now, bit only one is module specific. The ideal would be to have 4 or 5 tabs maybe available as module specific. Hopefully this may become a feature soon!
  4. Hey Floyd, thanks for this, been flying it a few times and getting a bit frustrated! I am taking off from Pathos in my Apache, very carefully approaching WP2, as first time, I got a SAM in the face. Have managed 3 sneaky approaches at NOE and hiding between houses and trees etc to get within range of the pesky SA8 on the coast....but each time get taken out before I can get a shot in...........I have edted teh lua file to enable persistence so 2 questions....how do I effectively "save" the mission and re enter it at the saved point? And any tips in dealing with the SA8 without shot? As soon as you get above 30 feet it sees you and starts shooting, I cant get high enough for a clear LOS without getting shot.....
  5. As title, thinking of upgrading, and wanted thoughts on the best combo. Particulary in terms of memory speed etc . Leaning towards AMD rather than intel but happy to be persuaded otherwise, although I dont want to have to rely on overclocks to get performance, rather have less stress and heat. Cheers
  6. I have just realised that my idea has a flaw.....the grips will need a main control board, they cant interface directly to the PC via USB cable..........So that will need adding to the equation. So actually that type of cable will not work........Damn. Will need to get something fabricated
  7. I have, yes, but apparently, they dont have any spare, its possible they can get one next order batch, but they dont know when that will be........hence my request
  8. Hi - when I got my F18 grip, it shipped with an additional cable for use to power up the grip without attaching to a base, see screenshot. I never had a use for mine until now, and now I need another. I am asking any owners who do not use the cable if they would be prepared to sell to me? let me know, thanks
  9. Cool and understood. I would have thought based on speed and trajectory of both planes, it should be possible to extrapolate a predicted position more accurately and direction / vector would be even easier. Thank you Mike!
  10. I am hoping very much that they can include a more highly detailed mesh. All these maps ( in particular the South Atlantic map, of which I had high hopes) fall down with the resolution of the terrain mesh, making the mountains look rounded and leaving nothing to "hang" the detail in the satellite imagery on. I had a LOT of Orbx scenery when I flew FSX and they used a mixture of satellite imagery and procedurally generated textures. Looks similar here. Could be really good, but will defintely need a high res mesh to make it really special........
  11. Indeed and that is what prompted my query here! We live in hope for Jester 2! Would be good if someone from Heatblur could maybe comment.....?
  12. Will Jesters SA calls be worked on in Jester 2? Currently, they are not much use, basically telling you where the bandit was a few seconds ago and no directional calls. It would be great if we could get some calls that accurately positioned the bandit allowing for a delay in looking and more importantly his direction , IE, Bandit 2 o’clock crossing left to right, or left hand turn, etc etc…….
  13. The add tab feature is also helpful, and when I first discovered it, it seemed the answer…..I wanted for example to add a “Controls” tab where all my graphics for HOTAS and simpit hardware bindings were stored for each module. however I quickly realised that this needs doing for every module, meaning you need a LOT of tabs, especially if you want to add some other tabs as well. Is there a way make a clickable menu within the app so you could choose subfolders within tabs? Fantastic app btw Fred, thanks!
  14. As title, whats the best way to capture VR video in DCS? I have got overwolf, but cant figure out how to make it record only the game mirror, it records my whole widescreen monitor. And despite setting the correct options in the audio, the video has no sound.....
  15. thx, will try
  16. No one here with a Quest 3?
  17. So I just tried this out and was quite pleasantly surprised, using the handtracking on my Quest pro. Button pushes seem easy, toggle switches less so and rotaries even more tricky. I wondered if there were any tips to getting it set up optimally? I played with the sliders to align the VR glove hand with the pilot body glove hand when my hand is on the grip, but this does not match the rest of the cockpit or my simpit. I do have the Winwing MP1 set up so its pretty similar to the real cockpit, at least in the central panel area, but still, it does not match up. Is there a way to do this, or is it only ever going to work exactly if you have an accurately dimensioned blank sim pit replica? Cheers
  18. I find it works very well, and at only £30 or so for one, you cant go wrong. Give it a try, I actually swapped from an Xbox controller to the logitech version, but same difference.
  19. Hi, my wife recently got a Quest 3 for herself, but I am keen to try it out as a comparison, I currently use a Quest Pro. Whats the quickest / easiset way to try it out on my PC? Add it as another device in the mobile app? Will it matter she used a different account to set it up? Once connected to the app, whats the best way to use the Q3? Via the same cable I use for my Quest pro ( which is not the standard link cable, but an aftermarket charging cable) I hear talk of VD etc.....is this needed ? Advice appreciated, thanks
  20. Just quoting the great man from his wiki instructions
  21. MBucchias fovated rendering is significantl;y better than the toolkit version. There is also a companion app you can get which allows easy settings adjustments
  22. Yeah but we are not asking which flight sim is better here. You still have good photorendered scenery tiles and cities like we have in DCS, Orbx do just that kind of thing with Flight sim with more variety ( and coming to DCS soon in the Kola map) . We are asking which scenery looks best and I think its clear, that done right photoscenery beats tiled and current DCs texture tech. I would just like to understand that given its nearly 20 year old tech and all the hard work has already been done, why it cant be utilised to its full potential with the SA map....as I really feel it could be sooo much better. Just needs a better mesh and some work on masking, transitions etc.
  23. HiI vote keep the satellite imagery...done right, ( paired with a decent high resolution terrain mesh) it worksd really well. I used to fly a lot in FSX 10 - 15 years ago, and had many gigabytes of photscenery as well as hi def add on meshes. The scenery realism achieved using this was awesome and that was a LONG time ago, with way less powerful computers and graphics cards and much less memory. If it was possible easily then, then I dont understand the barriers to implementing it like that within DCS.....if there is an issue preventing this then I am all ears....Here are some pictures from then, please tell me what you think:
  24. excellent, thank you people!
  25. Yeah, I wonder why with it being such a well rounded program ( and this applies to the standard DCS Kneeboard as well) why it is so difficult to make bookmarks persistent rather than having to set them up each mission
