  1. Cant say I have done any comparisons....but have always tried to keep it simple. Too many people sampling up and down in 3 different places,, how can you tell what is doing what? Accepted wisdom is leave DCS PD at 1.0, set the overall resolution in the Oculus software ( I dont use OTT ) for me, this is as far right as the slider goes @72Hz. Then just use QVFR to supersample the image you look at, thats it. Works for me, looks very good and I have no performance issues at all. @ahsoul: mostly I am CPU bound. Currently DCS runs better with AMD chips than Nvidia, the X3D series is teh chip to get for DCS. Apparently it simply does not utlise the thgreads very well, so no point in having 16 super fast threads, its better to have more cache
  2. No, he is offering a supplied built service to avoid the wait times,
  3. Your limiting factor is likely vram. 24gb = good, any less, you will need to compromise on texture quality. I ONLY use the resolution multiplier in the main oculus software, nowhere else, PD at 1 in DCS. Use DFR to bump up image quality in the middle if you can. 72 hz with ASW forced works very well for me. Oh, and use the cable, much better than virtual desktop and Wi-Fi. Can’t remember my bitrate encode settings offhand, but there is a thread on here with them in.let me know if you have no luck finding. Oh and MSAA with sharpening at 65 I think……..
  4. If you really look , yes you may notice that, but it is so quick and I don’t really spend time snapping my eyes around quickly…….its a non factor for me, I have the foveated area set at approx 275% and the peripheral at 25%. Works great for me. There is a companion app that makes adjusting these settings easy.
  5. I really don’t understand the negative comments further up. I went from G2 to the pro and love it. It is super comfortable NOT-having it clamped on your face, the lenses are awesome and performance on my less than top of the range machine is really good, locked at 36 fps using 72hz. I use DFR and have super clear resolution ……It is really smooth in 95% of situations and very reliable, I never get freezes etc. I use a charging cable, not the quest link cable. At £400 or so which you can get it for, it’s a real bargain, considering it was £1500 on release. Don’t think twice……. My wife recently got a Q3 but I have yet to try it as a comparison, will do shortly…. As a comparison, To the G2, I am getting better performance and image clarity on the same rig.
  6. A picture would be nice?
  7. Mine just arrived....I see what the others mean about the material, but its not an issue for me....certainly wont be sending it back...Scott -S6, why would you even do that? What else you gonna use? Re the switches, I am sure if there is a quality issue Virpil will replace straight away or even change the switches, they have done this before with the F14 grip. This is the advantage of buying from a big established company. For the money paid, its a winner. I have a question though about the options you choose in teh software for creating the profile....it gives you the choice between No mode modifier or Hold modifier. I could not find an online manual or any mention of what these options mean and do.....anyone here know?
  8. True, true true………I have the F15SE in my hanger but have hardly flown it, simply because, on top of learning the Apache, I also fly the F1, F5, Harrier & F14……. These older jets with the exception of the harrier are easier to learn, with of all of those, the F14 taking the most effort due to having the back seat as well, which is a module in itself……I am expecting the F4 to be a similar but slightly easier beast to learn and will probably be flying it almost exclusively with the F14 when it comes out. I have come to realise that 6 levels of sub pages on an MFD is not actually fun………
  9. I am referring to the VP Force Rhino base. It will of course be great for Helos as well, but I have 2 separate sim pits and that would mean buying 2....Meantime, I use the Virpil CM3 base. This can be set up so the stick stays exactly where you put it, mimicking exactly how the stick works in reality, using a magnetic brake. So its just as good, only without the vibrating etc you get with the FFB effects. Its a great choice for Helos' for this reason and can be quickly returned to normal spruung operation if you are using with other modules with the twist of an allen key. Hope that clarifies No
  10. Thanks for that, will take a look....any idea why my original set up wont work? I like to understand these things........
  11. Much as I love DCS and what ED do for us, I must admit I do find it difficult to understand how the AI can be so useless and why it is taking so long to make improvements. I spent several years flying Falcon 4 and they were not so bad there. Surely a key part of a sim which is played extensively in single player mode.........
  12. I use a Rhino for jets and a CM3 for the Apache and other helos. The CM3 is excellent value being half the price of the Rhino and once set up it is very easy to use and trimming woes is a thing of the past. I have it set so the springs and clutches hold it in position where you put it, which is perfect. I use a virpil 200mm S extension with it.
  13. I have made a training mission for double assisted and tactical formation turns. I want a help message to stay visible throughout, but have discovered the max time a message is persistent is 1000 seconds.....OK I thought, easy, just make the message re appear with a new time more trigger after 1010 seconds. However, the first message dissappears after aroun 500 seconds and teh next message is late appearing.....i have checked and double checked and cant see what might be the issue.... Can someone see if they can find why? Or tell me how to make a message mission length persistent! Shadowlands Tac Turn trainer V6 No voice coach.miz
  14. Been revisiting mavericks in the Harrier today. They both have their issues, but generally today, the IR ones were more reliable. I was really struggling with getting the laser Mavs to find and lock a target, and that was after spending 5 or 10 minutes searching for targets that I knew their location, but could not find any combination of gain and contrast to make them visible……….cant be this difficult in reality can it? I am also flying the Apache a lot currently and the ease of operation and effectiveness of both Hellfire variants is a huge contrast…….
  15. As title and I know it's lazy of me, but I wondered if anyone had done any kneeboards for the FCR & datalink? I was going to start doing some myself, but just thought I would ask here before I ploughed into what is quite a large task!
  16. Hey, hoping to pick some brains regarding voice attack. Using it with the Apache and I have it all installed correctly but it seems to be only partially working. I am using Baileys AH64D profile. It hears and recognizes all the commands I say....however, will only act on a few of them and others, it will do the wrong thing...for example, I command George to increase altitude, it shows correctly in the VA GUI window as recognized " command recognized: George increase altitude" but instead George will turn left...and replies, "Copy, coming left" I have re imported the 3 .lua files for the keyboard commands but still same issue. If the commands are recognized in the VA GUI window, presumably that means I can rule out an issue with my voice not being recognized properly and needing to do further speech training? Some commands work perfectly with no issues,.....it's confusing.... Thanks for any help...
  17. Hi, due to some upgrading of my kit, I have available the following items for sale: A left hand and right hand virpil alpha prime grips £150 each or best offer I am in the UK and shipping would be extra
  18. Hi, what is Fred’s HTCC and how might it enhance the basic hand tracking in DCS? Are you saying that you have it working reliably and accurately?
  19. Thanks, have now tried OBS and Overwolf.........OBS seems best, but only records one eye. so you are missing around 25% of what is actually in your view. Is there any way to record a "combined" image, IE what is seen on the monitor mirror? Within OBS you can select to record Oculus mirror, but again, this only records either left or right eye.
  20. Thanks all, I will only be using the PC for DCS, so looks like AMD the choice..regarding memory....any specific advice on timings, latency particular brands or products ? I am probably going to go large and look at 96GB ( 2 x 48 as have heard that 4 channel with AMD sucks) Cheers
  21. Excellent, got it - thank you
  22. Hi, thanks, it was definitely on and regarding emitting - I could make it scan and previously destroyed targets showed up as X's. How can I tell it is emitting? I know the targets in question were stationary & approx 4 - 6 KM from using the laser range finder after George found and killed some that I could not see. But yes, they were in the town in and amongst houses, so ground clutter was a factor for sure. By this time I had found and got rid of the SA8, so had the luxury of being able to go higher (500ft) to help detection. So what is advised to get rid of the LOS invalid message? If it appears, does it simply mean that its scanned but cant see any targets? I cant find it being mentioned in any of the youtube guides I have been referring to either.......Despite the answers above I am still a bit unsure of what it signifies and how to deal with it. But thanks for all advice
  23. Still having issues......made sure I had guns WAS'd, as CPG, and at a decent height above masking buildings, see screen grab. I can scan, but still see the LOS invalid message and no targets being picked up , even though they are right ahead.....
  24. Thanks Floyd, so to clarify, it does not create a new version of mission as the "save", it actually alters the mission as you go, so EVERY time you start it, it will pick up where you last left off....yes? What about Airframes I get shot down in? Are these no longer available? And you dont get to re spawn in the position where you last were, you still have to start from one of the bases? Am I correct in assuming that all the persistence does is ensure that whatever units are alive or dead at the "save" point are carried over to the next start? I am fairly certain that I have done the required edits correctly, is there an easy way to check if the mission has been updated? Edit, update: So I finally managed to sneak up on the pesky SA8 and introduce him to a Hellfire, which was great and also then managed to destroy another 5 or so targets in the nearby area before running low on fuel, so I returned to Pathos for re arming and refueling. I actually had to go out for a few hours then, so left the mission running but paused. DCS then logged me out and I had to re start. When I did so, I find I cant spawn anywhere as Pathos is in enenmy hands? Does that mean that I will need to use a fresh copy of the mission and start again? Secondly, is there any way to prevent this happening? There did not seem to be any Blue side AI around to help and this seems a lot to do without any AI to help..... Edit 2: After posting the above, I decided to add some AI help for myself at Pathos, so I made a copy of the original mission from my downloads folder and did this. When I tried to start it, I was unable to spawn, as Pathos was in enemy hands.......tried the original unaltered mission and the same....how does this happen when the original file was in my downloads folder....? I thought that DCS would only update the mission file in my saved games? It seems that it has found and update the original in my download folder as well....is this possible? So now, it seems I cannot use the mission again......cant be right.....? Thanks!
  25. That must be it, I had done exactly that....so I need to find targets first, gotcha. Many thanks!
