well its a newer version than I have now. It has a power sw at least. 90 bucks is about right too. That HMD is too late in its life cycle to be spending 200 bucks on. What make the V2 cable so much greater? For 200 bucks the V2 cable should make the cable go away and be a wireless device lol. I probably got the last one??? They say it shipped and i got a tracking number. Fingers crossed.

That would be sweet. I suspected that the G2 would be their last headset sometime ago. Its a great HMD but HP does not strike me as a company that would continue to down that avenue it just doesn't seem aligned with their typical products and im guessing probably didn't sell WAY above expectations so there probably isn't going to be anything further from them. Valve is the one im watching now. They seem like a company WELL aligned with the VR industry and the deckard speculation has been interesting. Vario is another so is even PiMax.

Alright nice. They were all sold out on the above links but B&H claim to have them in stock. I placed an order we shall see.

I suspected that when I skimmed over the log. Thanks Flappie

hello I believe the cable on my G2 is going bad. Im getting lots of issues with it losing center and then it will blue screen and CTD. I found that its not only DCS but any VR app. In WMR Cliff house thing I can look up or look right and it will blue screen and the CTD and I get a message "connect headset" I can wiggle the HMD and it will reconnect. I found in DCS looking up or right causes CTD most often as well. It appears that those angles are causing a temp cable break. I heard about a new cable for the G2 but it was sometime ago. If I need to replace the cable where should I look and which one should I get? Thanks
-
After investigating this further...I think its a bad cable for the G2. Is there anything in the log that would support this hypothesis? thanks
-
Hello Sometimes some OB have a rare tendency to CTD. After the latest update it I get CTD within 3 to 20 min of playing. Happens offline or online. Vr will lose tracking now often and as things get more complicated (incoming bandits and missiles in the air) it will lose tracking more and more often within seconds from one to the next at about that time I get blue screen and its dead. I initially though hardware. Temps seem in check. I haven't noticed issues with other games (but those are mostly flat panel ill try HL Alex or something to see if thats an issue but my guess is not) I do not have issues with tracking or crashing in the DCS main menus or steam home or cliff house. Ive attached log any ideas? dcs.log

Thanks for the video! This is about what I noticed going from a 2080Ti to a 3090. You dont get significantly better FPS but you get lots of overhead so you can turn up your visual settings and pixel density. In the end you get way better clarity and visuals at about the same FPS you had before. Usually the overall performance is more consistent less stutter. My goal was to set graphics setting that gave me about 80 to 90 GPU utilization. Not surprised that nothing has changed with the 40 series. Better graphics at about the same FPS. I wonder how much vulkan and multi core will change things if that ever happens?

what about with alt + heading hold with FFB joystick I might get it to hold 1 in 15 tries and its unreliable and will usually oscillate after a minute or two then just enter an ever increasing dive. Is this a known issue or more or just me? Thanks

Were you not able to find a "mod" or tweak to get rid of those issues? All versions on win usually have one or 2 things that suck about them but I've always been able to find a way to get rid of a "cortana" or some widget or lame weather / news crapplet screwing up my viewing space. What issues did you see that were deal breakers and not easily modded? Thanks -Gun

I suspect that by the end of this year I'll be building a new PC. Im planning on going 4090 and a 13th gen raptor lake. We will see how that stuff really performs vs the rumors when the time comes. The real question is will the OS (win 10 vs 11) make any difference in DCS with the above hardware? IF DCS ever goes multicore / Vulkan would it then be an issue? I have had ever version of windows except ME and 8. I even liked vista as I found visa to be the first win OS that did not degrade over time and or get wiped out by a virus. With all other versions of win in my case it was a fresh install every 6 months to a year. I ran VISTA for about 6 years on a single install and it was still fine. But I digress. My concern is that Win 11 is going to end up in the ME and 8 bin. A trash os that no one wanted, either a downgraded version of the last win (ME vs 98) or a cell ph os that has no business on a PC (win 8 ) I think in this case its going to be the ME vs 98 example where win 11 is the new os that is less functional than 10. However win 11 seems to be the only os that supports CPU scheduling for E core and P core CPUs. What are the odds that I would see say in 2 years gains from having win 11 vs 10 because of E core and P core CPUs and DCS vulkan and multicore? I do not want to build this new PC and then have to Change OS after a year because I made a mistake. Ive always manged to make OS changes during upgrades but win 11 looks crap and its making me ask these questions. Any thoughts? Thanks

I have no idea but I had to look at that image for like a minute and still wasnt 100% sure someone didnt just photo shop pilot legs into a dcs screen shot. Cover up the bottom half and Im not sure one could say that it was a real life photo vs dcs.

I saw no mention of weather changes in the change log but other post seemed to indicate that there would be weather updates with this patch. Which one is correct?

Asking RAM requirements for DCS VR 2022 in multiplayer servers
Gun Jam replied to Dr.Cure's topic in Virtual Reality
I run 32gb a friend that I fly with also ran 32gb but found noticeable improvements by running 64. He uses monitor and Hp Reverb G1 sometimes. Based on his findings my next upgrade will include 64gb of ram. I would also upgrade to 2 m.2 drives one drive dedicated to the os and os type apps and the 2nd m.2 would be for dcs and other games... samsung 980 pros -
Im curious about this as well. The internet agrees that mach 2.4ish is the top speed for the A model. I dont think ive ever seen anything above mach 1.6 (but I usually only fly the B) Can any SMEs actually provide the realistic top speed and whats required to reach that Mach value? Then there is confusion about mach vs knots to measure top speed (at least in my head)

South Atlantic Map early access release note
Gun Jam replied to myHelljumper's topic in South Atlantic
I think the map is worth the money but I also think its the worst looking map in DCS (I fly VR but I also see the same issues in video) and I also don't believe the issues can be fixed with a reasonable amount of time and most issues will persist beyond EA as they are side effects of its design path. The map is large and in many cases looks great at high altitude but it suffers below 10k my primary issues are as follows 1) The textures are low quality and look like they have been painted on a cloth and pulled over a low poly mesh this actually works well higher up and for most places that aren't mountains. The mountains look bad close up very flat 2) Repeating textures cause straight lines or patterns to form boxes that then create rows. This is really ugly in VR it occurs in snow and terrain at lower altitudes. You get banding that is very distracting and unpleasant 3) Fake stuff like: fake roads, lakes, Rivers, river valleys and general terrain features. You'll fly along and go I can fly up that river channel and hide. You get down low and there is no river channel. You see a cliff face with a shadow that's baked in and does not match time of day. 4) Lots of straight lines where apparently the is an image seam that features a time of year shift. It looks like a fence that has grazing animals next to a plot of land that does not except its many many miles long and in lots of places The above are my main issues and I believe most of this is a side effect of using satellite imagery. Would I recommend this map? yes but its also the worst looking map in DCS but that doesn't mean its bad. I would rate 6.5/10 its going to have plenty of fans who will love it and for good reason but I suspect its also going to be the source of a lot of criticism for good reason as well. As for EA. I thought about that as I was flying over looking at the massive size and most of the above issues to me feel overwhelming to solve maybe in 3 to 4 years. SA is a barren landscape in real life and that is fine (take a look at PG) but when a lot of the interesting features have been faked and don't even exist that doesn't help. I suspect the heli community will pretty much reject SA in its entirety the thought of a heli mission on that map seems quite unappealing to me. ( although Im sure some sections would be quite entertaining) -
You're really kinda killing this thing on the runway ED...
Gun Jam replied to M1Combat's topic in Voice Chat
ED should have bought SRS and fully integrated it so it was no longer downloaded overlay. -
is it the same issue as this? In my experience the crew wont respond to an aircraft pulling up if a tomcat is occupying 1 of the 2 spots.

investigating Catapult Crew Wont hook You Up

The track I last posted is free of scripts its just a quick mission with 2 players a host and a client. The track is from the client side. The last time I remember tracks playing back correctly was with the a-10 before DCS world...as far as I know tracks have been broken for like a decade. Im just assuming they dont play them back but analyze them other ways... If you create a zip file from them you can open them up and see a folder structure. @Flappie were you able to get the track to function in a way that would help with this issue? Is there anything else I can provide to help with this?? Thanks. -
I would increase some graphics settings until you get closer to 80 to 90 % GPU utilization use higher textures and make sure DCS VR settings pixel density is set to 1. This will likley have little impact on your CPU issue but there is a slight chance it could unload it a bit. on the Plus side you'll get some VR clarity improvements. -Gun

lots of probably good suggestions here but I didn't see the important thing mentioned. Dont watch the basket! There now its easy. you'll focus on the basket pod (near where the fuel line connects on the tanker) and keep tabs from time to time on the basket with your peripheral vision and notes for jester you'll never focus on the basket The plane will be trimmed (i dont use bomb mode) and you'll advance slow watching the pod on the tanker wing. Once you connect advance forward probably 1/3 the line length and you''ll focus 100% on keeping the pod on the taker wing in the same spot using a canopy reference point of your choice (normally the pod is near the upper right section of the canopy bow frame for me) you'll never take your eyes off this ref point or look at the basket or fuel gauge.

investigating Catapult Crew Wont hook You Up
Gun Jam replied to HeavyGun1450's topic in Bugs and Problems
Ive never observed the issue occurring with hornets. I see pairs of hornets hook up on SC all the time no issues. Throw a f14 in the mix and things go to hell real quick. -

Here is a new track very contrived. Short sweet. 1 f14 1 f18. F14 hooks up f18 can not until f14 launches. Online play. This is from the client machine not the host machine. @Flappie moving_ducks-20220331-200139.trk -
This is like a year+ old topic... but yep still relevant!
