  1. eek its been broken for like a year? I thought I was missing a new step or something. thanks for the info. I look forward to the fix! -Gun
  2. In the past (say a year ago) the autopilot was never an issue. Now i cant seem to get it to run reliable if at all sometimes? I get the plane trimmed, have less than +- .5 climb. Try to set ref and it just enters a large dive. maybe 1 in 50 attempts I can get it to work but Im not sure why. what the procedure for setting this thing up now? Thanks
  3. did you check to see if there is a key bound to throttle / throttle cut / fuel cut or anything of that nature that might be by mistake. So far issues like this are caused by a key bind issue ive yet to read otherwise.
  4. so in the first 2 seconds it looks like the ground is properly exposed and the water is over exposed... This is expected yes? Not the ground being properly exposed and the water being 1 to maybe 3 exposure values over total darkness.
  5. With NV on 3am no moon scatter clouds over Syria the terrain is easily visible but water is not. As gain is increased even with the lowest light settings in the f14 the cockpit over exposes before the horizon can be broken out from the water and in no case is the water ever visible. ive never used NV in real life but it seems to me that terrain with trees and grass should be less reflective than water. The water has reflectance values approaching zero as far as night vision is concerned im going to argue that this must be a bug because if the gain can be easily adjusted for terrain then water should be no problem... I dont see cloud reflections off the terrain but I do off water. Even if waves were to disrupt the reflective value of the water's surface then points on those waves should reflect back and create a sparkle type effect Ive not seen this discussed before... What are your thoughts on this? -Gun
  6. 1) In VR the menu consumes quite a bit of screen space having it minimized is nice. I dont think it shows who is transmitting in any instance however that should be an option like with SRS. When minimized when a user keys up their call sign and freq should show up in the area of the menu then fade out after quickly after the end of the transmission. This could be an option as there are probably servers that would like the user name to not show up ever. (not crapping up my display with menus is excellent and a simple fade in/out doesn't break immersion or clutter FOV) 2) when tuning to a channel how many other users are on that same freq?... This is helpful also something srs does 3) Needs mic click quite helpful to know that you did indeed press the button good. 4) When getting behind terrain this blocks signal and it appears to function well but it also appears binary. The signal is blocked or its not. Implementing degradation would be great... static increase volume decrease things like that then static as we approachtotal LOS. 1) is by far the most important. It needs to have the ability to be non intrusive by displaying transmitter's name and the freq then fading out when minimized. When a user keys up (X) could be displayed at the end as well where X is the number of users on that channel. Thanks -Gun

  8. If you're at a desk I just use two clips on nylon rope or ribbon and clip the L and R side of the chair to the bottom of the desk. They use buckles so I can adjust the twist and distance of the chair.
  9. Pretty much At least it has texture now and its not just a simple flat color. I would like the default wave height to be a bit more when winds are calm but yeah overall a lot better
  10. This sounds a lot like the Valve Index 2. This is good I like the direction both companies are headed its in agreement with what im after. If this headset really delivered what its hyped up to be I would pay 2k for one. Look at all the people willing to pay 2300 for a 3090 they cant get. They could sell these if they actually deliver. I'm betting that valve actually delivers the better product and that it will be released first which is likley why pimax is announcing so early they want to sound like they were first considering how similar the two HMDs are likley to be. Its looking like the next 6 to 12 months has a lot to offer in the way of next gen headsets.
  11. This is an awesome update. Its a huge improvement over the mod that lets the pilot run the pod it unloads a ton of work. issues im having. 1) in VR the "head control" red circle is double vision not sure if this is a VR issue with a setting on my end or a HB issue. Ive run the cross eye alignment tool months ago when I got the Hp Reverb G2 and everything has been fine since then. This is the first VR issue ive seen recently. 2) Need a jester hot key(s) for zoom. It would allow for two types of control: (Type 1) rocker sw that is normally centered press forward zoom in press back zoom out and then auto (give control back to jester) (Type 2) Normally open push sw this runs on a loop cycle each time you push zoom 1, zoom 2, zoom 3, auto and it loops back -Gun
  12. Yep I just saw that in my YT Feed!! Sweet!
  13. Humm I thought watching it was the fun part. How he built the case for why he believes those features to be accurate was interesting. Its all speculation at this point though likley solid for the most part. They should be releasing official specs in a few months.
  14. For those that may have missed this. A pretty good discussion on suspected features and rough specs. This seems very interesting.
  15. Hello I found with most DCS VR planes the default view is somewhere between a bit off and painful. The Mosquito is a bit off. Too high and just a bit too far left. I'll attempt to show you guys with this issue how to solve this problem the correct way so its a one time deal set and forget. The idea is that the snapviews.lua is edited with the correct XYZ values for proper head placement. This done with trail and error and takes about 10min. The hard part is that you may not have the snapviews.lua or it maybe missing the mosquito. the snapviews.lua is found in "Users / yourname/ saved games/ dcs/ config/view" It should be opened with notepad++ Find the heading for mosquito the heading is "[14] = {--default view - VR" EDIT X_trans, Y_trans, Z_trans Ive attached the values that worked well for G2 should be close for most others If you have no snapviews.lua here is a link that describes the process of creating it and/or adding the mosquito to the list here is a link to that thread. the last 3 post are the useful ones -Gun
  16. Im going to watch this carefully. I see this as having great potential for a sim pit that is built using modular blocks of something like insulation foam to represent a 1:1 block layout of the aircraft and additional items like gear levers and such could be added as well even switches could be added. The idea is everything is just for tactile feed back and require no power wires or controllers to function. You see it in the headset and reach for it real life and feel the gear lever and slide it up or rest your hand on the side of the F-16 ICP and use a thumb to enter a command. The complexity of the block cockpit would be limited by the precision of the leapmotion controller. I could see this a being a viable thing in the next year or 2
  17. do you see "HOT TRIG" light illuminated? Its just to the bottom left of "gun rate" high / low selector on the front dash. If hot trig is not illuminated there could be many issues why (master arm not on / no solution and or no enemy target all the way to missile isn't selected. and cooling and prep are off
  18. Is this something that could happen or is this a DCS issue? One would click and hold on the mirror then drag the mouse up or down to adjust mirror angle. This would help with giving a bit better view of the wings to help with speed and aoa judgements.
  19. Interesting I forgot it even had a power box. I may relocate the power box to a more accessible location. This maybe an option to having to pull the usb C plug from the 2080ti. This occurs when the computer is put into suspend state and "woken up" upon normal operation the VR headset is often unresponsive until the usb C plug is cycled. The power box if moved to a smart location would likley solve the issue as well and be less abusive to the USB port. Thanks -Gun
  20. Switching from auto to manual input seems to have solved the issue with having to launch dcs twice. SRS does start automatically but in the past when letting SRS start automatically the T/R or mic switch wouldn't function. I found that starting SRS first solved this problem. However I let SRS start automatically this time after switching to manual in WMR and it was fine not sure if its related but looks good to go now. Thanks you've reduced my startup times by half! -Gun
  21. 0) Its time for some DCS with VR!! Heck yeah im using the hp reverb G2 lets get started 1) put on headset... Get no response from headset. 2) crawl under computer desk and un plug the G2's video cable from video card and reinsert 3) put on headset again and auto launch WMR Cliff house. All good 4) Start DCS amd load into main screen 5) no mouse control 6) shutdown DCS 7) Shutdown Steam Vr and WMR portal 8. Put on headset launch cliff house 9) start DCS again 10) enter main screen with mouse control 11) Launch SRS for online voice and radio system 12) lose mouse control again 13) remember that SRS must be started before DCS 14) Shut down dcs 15) shutdown steam VR and WMR portal 16) Start SRS 17) Put on headset and start WMR portal for 3rd time 18) launch DCS 19) All checks out 20) Start sim shaker (luckily we remember to do this last if it were started at step 4 then sim shaker would require an exit and restart at this point) 21) all system go! LOL I know you've been there too.
  22. I gave this a try and was unhappy with anything under 1.0. using 1.0 reduced shimmer and let me run my G2 at 100% SS in steam. Things were for sure sharper but they were over sharp and it started to generate ISO noise in the image. Using 4xMSAA and 100% SS gave what I would consider a good improvement in overall quality but caused too much loss in frame time I was down about 10fps with a 2080ti when close to ground. Between the loss 10fps and the iso noise (over sharpened) I went back to using just the VR shader mod, 70% SS no MSAA. This is almost a win in my case.
  23. Yes! In 2.5 the texture was a bit over done as what should be considered finer detail like white caps were way too visible and it gave an odd sense of height. 2.7 is the total opposite there is no texture at any altitude. When hauling out of the carrier the ocean looks great and then when passing about 800 feet it just turns off and its quite obvious. Im sure at some point we will get a good balance.
  24. My main complaint with the water is not its color. 1) as seen in last photo its way too reflective. I dont recall observing this amount of reflection in anything other than lakes with calm surface. Even irrigation canals have little to no reflection. 2) The water is a single dead sheet of color that has a basic gradient applied to it. It is void of all texture, movement or any signs of life. It is horrible. The only time this is not the case is when looking into the sun or below like 800 feet. The carrier wake looks worse than it ever has because its the only object visible in an otherwise totally dead environment.
  25. yes I was using the f-14 but it also effect the f-18 if the f-14 is the first to the cat and the f-18 then rolls up. This used to not be a problem before 2.7. I could launch f-14 with f18 no probs.
