  1. I posted a thread prior about the near impossibility of the "Escort OCA Strike on Nal'Chik" mission. The sam's were near impenetrable, the mudhens freak out and drop their weapons at the first hint of trouble, and Nal'Chick itself has a never ending supply of Mig29's and Su27's to fling out at you. I used all my Amraams (carried 8 ) and ALL OF MY GUN AMMO trying to stop them. I deleted the sam site, thru editing the mission. Nothing worked. Nal'Chik is a never ending fighter factory that widdles you away leaving you with literally nothing by the time you're halfway to the airbase. So i'm finally giving up, and deleting all fighters that launch from the base as well. People say they've done it, and given me strategies, but I've literally been stuck on this mission for a month. Last time I tried, I alone had 9 kills (NINE) and there were still more russians than I can count swarming me. Question is, anyone have a track of them beating it? I'd like to watch it. Make sure its from the latest patch, or else the track won't play properly. Also, general bellyaching and commiseration welcome. :music_whistling:
  2. :megalol: I had that stick and thought it was SO AWESOME until I got an x52... and I was floored by now much better it was. Even the stick itself! Now I have an x52 pro and I want an x65... I haven't played with the x65 yet, but given how close the prices come on ebay, splurge and get the 52pro, skip the vanilla 52. Worth the extra 20-40 you'll spend.
  3. so the IG/EDGE will address the performance problems then?
  4. I did a search and found nothing, I apologize if this thread is a repeat. In hollywood explosions happen very close to people, send them flying, and they're perfectly ok. I think in real life we all know this isn't the case. However I feel like infantry in DCS world has that hollywood invulnerability; explosions very near infantry don't seem to phase (or kill) like they should. This makes rocket passes and HE rounds from guns (especially the warthogs) very tedious. I'm not sure if its the infantry's fault, and they have too much health, or the munition's fault, and it has too little radius, but with helicopter campaigns and CAS missions being more popular than ever, this issue is becoming more prominent to me. Ideas? thoughts? threads my search missed that this could be merged with? :noexpression:
  5. That helps a lot more than the flight manual did.. thanks!
  6. Yeah I was going to ask, is there a way to change the way fuel flows? it appears that it takes fuel from the internal tanks before the externals, completely defeating the point of external tanks to begin with. Also, is there some way to find out how much fuel is in the center drop tank?
  7. I don't think that was it; I always run DCS as admin. ...uh actually I was just able to do it. Hm. Maybe the one mission was just giving me a hard time? I'll convert them all tomorrow and report back
  8. Title says it all, did a search but couldn't find anything. Has anyone converted the A-10A campaign from FC3 to A-10C? I'd love to fly a new A10 campaign but I much prefer the DCS level -C over the mid fidelity -A. I tried doing it myself, but it wouldn't let me save the missions. Anyone?
  9. The missiles look fantastic; however I'm more concerned with how they perform than how they look... they don't list changes to missile performance anymore it seems, but the last incremental patch did wonders for updating their performance. The Aim9 and amraam are almost perfect, but the russian missiles are still suffering horribly. I'm taking the opportunity to advance as far in the F-15c campaign as humanly possible =)
  10. Yeah that sam pumps out missiles like NO TOMORROW. It reminded me of the few times I tried to take on the admiral kutz with the a10... thank you!
  11. I'm on the "Escort OCA strikes on Nal'chik" mission of the F-15 Bear Trap campaign. I'm happy SAM's were made useful and more realistic, I really am, and if they're supposed to be impenetrable walls of missile-death then that's fine too, but how the hell do I get past this mission? The f-16's are worthless; their AGM-88's are shot down by the tunguskas and the mudhens drop all their ordinance at the slightest hint of danger, it's a complete crap show. On top of that, the airbase seems to have a never ending supply of Mig-29's and Su-27's to hurl at me... I run out of Amraams very quickly without seeming to put a slight dent in their supply. How did you guys tackle this mission?! It seems the enemy is perfectly prepared with limitless supplies and I'm flying with a bunch of toddlers.
  12. On the other hand, the R-27 family doesn't appear to want to track at all... none of the missiles I fire seem to go after their target. Both ER and ET versions...
  13. Me too! ironically, I wasn't at all excited for this patch because none of the fixes were things that were bothering me. I thought if the missiles were tuned, it would be mentioned... but apparently w/o mention, the missiles were tuned and are much better! The Amraam finally feels like it did in FC2. It bleeds airspeed much slower than before. The R-27 IMO still seems a bit ineffective... more testing is needed! Just wanted to post and say THANKS ED FOR CONTINUING WORK ON THE MISSILES !!!!!
  14. if the exhaust fumes could stall the engine, then why do they mount the missiles there at all? do the er and et not share the same motor?
  15. As missiles are an ongoing project, and are currently quite short ranged, I find myself changing my fighting style and loadout. Where I used to take a full compliment of 27ER's before, now I take the two 27ET's (why can't the center fuselage carry them anyway?) and 73's instead of jaming pods. I find that almost all fights, if it's more than 2v2, end up WVR and the HMD with IR missiles is king in this fight. When I find myself out numbered, I end up trying to reel the opponent in, dodging his low energy amraams with ease to close for the IR or gun kill. While obviously not realistic, it is kind of fun in its own way. The russian birds have the americans outclassed (with what's modeled in this sim) with turn rates and IR missiles. Anyone else with similar experience? how has the missile's current state affected your style? :pilotfly:
  16. I hope so. I'm dying to fly something that has an AFM and is supermaneuverable.
  17. The drop tanks don't occupy weapon stations. Always equip them, and drop them at the first sign of trouble. No reason not to have them in the sim
  18. This post is all great advice, but I'm puzzled by your flying in the video... It seems you completely forgot about corner velocity, and just hammered back the stick every time, routinely flying ~150-200 knots below where you should be. Were you just messing around, or...?
  19. I have FC3, I don't want a non DCS level F-15c and su-27. It'll be cool to have a super maneuverable AFM, but again I want a deeper experience. DCS has always been about ball-crushing level of true to life detail, and while I enjoy FC3 I don't see the point of releasing aircraft already in it. Basically all you're paying for is the AFM. In my opinion, development time and resources would be much better spent on ANY dcs level aircraft, be it F15, 18, 27, whatever.
  20. i cant wait for these to be fixed. though its going to be a real eye opener when we're used to missiles being effective at 15 miles, and suddenly they cant kill at 57 miles
  21. Bought it right away! check this and post here as well http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1738382#post1738382
  22. FINALLY the gun appears to be fixed for the F-15. Been waiting for that fix since FC3 came out. Short bursts incapacitate if not outright kill fighters now, where before it took half the darn belt to down something. Can anyone confirm this was officially fixed or am I getting luck / imagining it?
  23. Long time KA-50 fan here. Wasn't really that excited for the UH-1 but I'm always up for diving into a new aircraft, especially when its a DCS level simulation. It's funny how much people went on and on about how uncontrollable and difficult to fly the KA-50 was... it took me about a month to learn to fly it effectively, and another month to be combat ready, and I'm a pilot in real life. Now that I fly the huey... it's like a gokart, where the ka-50 is like a race car. And I loved every second of its unstable conventional designed 2 rotor craziness. :pilotfly: I can't wait to master it and tame it just like I did the shark! What do you guys think? any fun stories already?
  24. Yeah I was waiting for someone to say that. I was joking; what I'm getting at is, is that the missile performance is the most important part of FC3 development to me. So its good that it's an ongoing process!
