a note on the cannon, modern MBT's have quite the armor equiped on them, its effective at repelling just about anything. To get around this, A10 pilots aim for the rear and top of the tank in order to penetrate. However, that's IRL, in the sim i think all units have a "health bar" and where you shoot the tank doesn't matter unfortunately =(

can you still rotate your camera ok with the mouse?
-
I seem to be having this issue as well, but for me it goes a step further: I can't use the mouse to look around the cockpit, or an external views either
-
Yeah tried that too, forgot to mention that...
-
I had initially thought this was an issue with just the F2 view, but its every view. I am unable to look around with the mouse. - everything is mapped properly in the controls, the axis I mean. - I've tried disabling and re-enabling aero interface. - I can still look around with the numpad - mouse wheel doesn't work - I've tried pressing Lalt and C and it switches between clickable cockpit and what SHOULD be mouse look, but neither moves the camera. - I can still click on switches and whatnot fine When I click axis tune in the controls, the black box in the center jiggles, but I don't know if that means anything or not. It doesn't move much. Any ideas? :music_whistling:

It's not just the F2 view, its using the mouse to move the camera ANYWHERE. Making a new thread to reflect this.

Hey, since patch 1.21 I seem to no longer be able to look around with my mouse in the F2 view; I can with the numpad but not the mouse anymore. I checked the control options but everything seems to be set up properly, any ideas?

Thanks wags... I have it all downloaded and ready to install! Will there be an official announcement when the fps issues are fixed?

the debreif said 'sa-8 igla manpads' specfically...

I'm friends with the lead test engineer, the reason I'm all over it is because of what it could do... From one of the test pilots: "The #3 bird was almost ready for flight, and there were 8 others in various forms of completion. The pieces were crushed to be sure nobody could resurrect the program. It was a kick to fly, a full 2 decades ahead of anything else out there. In spite of the PR that went out, few of the really advanced concepts found their way into anything else. This is mostly because the really advanced things rely on a fully integrated aircraft with a real central computer system and FBW, and such aircraft as the LUH and ARH have so little technology in them. A brief run thru the technologies: fly by wire that used velocity control, so no outside reference was needed for precise control in NOE environments. Wide field of view, visually coupled helmet display with full aircraft health weapons and nav info so no heads down was ever needed. Flight controls keyed to the weapons solution (integrated fire and flight controls) so that the aircraft pointed with uncanny accuracy and quickness Fully integrated health caution and advisory info, so almost no gages had to be looked at. All emergencies were automatic cleanup by computer Automatic target recognition and classification in half the time of a human crew Fully automated use of the map as the mission analog, with all mission info presented on the detailed, colored terrain map. No grids were ever handled by the crew, all info was spotted on the map for the crew, or taken off the map when the crew pointed at the spot. Radios were tuned by the map as you crossed tactical boundaries. Spot reports were packaged by the system as the crew circled the map info, and cut and pasted it onto the spot report. Other crews were briefed by lead using a free hand white line that lead drew on their maps as he briefed them, "You set yourself HERE, this is your section of the kill zone." The manipulation of the pictoral mission elements was like Windows, but instead of an office desk, the cockpit behaved like a sand-table in a tactics school. Radar, IR signatures that were so low, it was 1/300th the signature of an Apache, and could fly right up to the latest radar controlled gun and kill it with its 20mm gatling gun. No jammers were needed! Full cabin overpressure so that flight in any chemical or nuclear (or Nuculur if you are Geo Bush!) environment could be accomplished with the crew in shirtsleeves Ability to turn 180 degrees at any speed from 0 to 130 knots in less than 5 seconds, where the timing starts with target detect and ends with weapons launch. Hover at altitudes up to 7500 feet DA in winds up to 45 knots without compromised yaw control. Able to "snap turn" at 120 knots 90 degrees in less than 2 seconds to weapons launch The program was on schedule, and the Army was pleased enough to have awarded the program maximum extra payments for excellence just a month or two before it was cancelled. Even the Army PM was not involved or informed of the cancellation decision. The Billions of completion funding was a ripe plum, picked and sent to Iraq, like 2 of my sons."

Well the issue was detection... I didn't even know I was shot at! as for the altitude, it was whatever the alt scale is on the HUD. To be honest, I dont know if it was AGL or MSL, but the mission was near the cost so I'd imagine the difference is negligible. I should have kept the track to watch, and see what happened exactly.

only recently have i come to appreciate the hog; i was always a staunch believer that the attack helicopter is all the battlefield needs, i thought it did everything a cas aircraft could do and more... but thats another debate for another time ;) while flying around the other day, at a what i thought was safe altitude of 12,000 feet i suddenly lost both engines and all electronics. i realized i had been struck by a missile, but i was puzzled as to what because i had no mws warning or radar warning, and i thought i was too high for manpads. reviewing the after mission debreif, it was a manpad! i thought their max altitude was far lower than 12k... but my real question is this: how do you find and avoid ir missiles in the hog? just get lucky?

I don't mean to shoot anyone's ideas down (no pun intended) but don't forget, when DCS A-10C came out, it had a MUCH nicer and newer F-15E model that they showed off, it was in the trailer, screenshots, hell it was one of the background pictures during the installer! What I'm saying is a new model, I don't think, means anything. What is DCS fixed wing? we have BMS for F16, sevenG for the F18, and both razbam and iris are doing an F15. I think its anyone's guess at this point. I say screw all this fighter nonsense. DCS: RAH-66 Comanche all the way.

Map "reset trim" to a button on your stick. Or quickly press "cntrl T" i think its left control. Someone correct me if I'm wrong... but reset the trim, and then retrim. That should stop your wild spinning if you trim it the wrong way somehow.

Details of every update can be found in your Saved Games/DCS/Logs folder in the autoupdate.log file. Is what 159th Viper said to me in the other thread (too lazy to quote sorry) Check or post your log, does it say anything about updating the FPS issue?
-
Holy crap that was fast. I'm impressed! But like the other good fellows here, I'm staying on 1.2 until the FPS is fixed... 1.21 is DL'd and ready to install soon as it is! I'll be F5'ing the every loving HELL outta this thread in the mean time :pilotfly:

Thanks Nate, Eddie, Cichlidfan, and Viper!

Will there be any announcements of automatic updates here on the forums? or when the DCSW updates automatically, any way to know what is being fixed or added thru DCSW itself? Like a message telling you what it is?
-
I've downloaded 1.21 everything, but I'm going to hold off until the auto update comes out to fix the FPS issues... I've been wrestling with FPS's since I first installed DCSW. So my question is this... Will there be any announcements of automatic updates here on the forums? or if the DCSW updates automatically, any way to know what is being fixed or added thru DCSW itself?
-
Hey, how has your experience been running this campaign in DCSW? if its do-able, would you mind rar'ing up your fixed version and sending it to me?
-
Check lockonfiles.com theres a mod called "Make my god dammed betty speak english" mod or something like that. It's what I used

^ Least I'm taking something away from this that wasn't self discovered! and thanks everyone else, least a laugh was had! coulda just waited for someone to answer but there comes a time in every pilot's life when he has to man up, swallow his pride, and admit he was awesome enough to find the answers himself before anyone else could for him :pilotfly: -

This raises a new question though: How do you use the radar to fire AIM-9's early? it seems like the russians are able to fire heat seeking missiles LONG before I am, do they just have improved range or is there something I'm missing?
