  1. What about meteo settings? I do not see wind speed as a required configuration. It has to change something, doesn't it? :)
  2. On a sidenote, I was expecting it written as "M2000" :) (or any other version :D) Quick question: Will Nevada be a free update or a module that has to be bought? I do not remember any information about it. But I have not really active either so...
  3. There is another big plus which I have seen mentioned yet: Navigation aid. Your waypoints are displayed in front of your eyes, whereever they are. It helps visualize. The target is visible eventhough there is a mountain in between. As well as in bad weather condition.
  4. Sliding for 'glisser', so probably here you can interpret it as 'déraper.' It follows Gloom Demon's opinion. Both gliding and скольжение mean 'déraper' (even though скольжение is a name and not a verb) :) Edit: Tiré de http://www.aerobigorre.org/bia/download/tome_2_aerodynamique_mecanique_du_vol.pdf (in french) And I am not as sure about the next comment, but I think it should be translated with the verb 'to skid' in english ;)
  5. Which means you do not want the files to be too large since SDD are way more expensive for a limited space. Do you confirm? :)
  6. Hello dear community, I was willing to open this new thread with the aim to get opinions from other virtual pilots on a specific question. I did not want to make a poll as I find them often lame. I thought it would be much more interesting for now to discuss the question. We are regularly receiving news about the future Neveda terrain and EDGE coming along with it (or rather the opposite..). We know that the developpment is in advanced stage. Obviously, several questions remain for the developpers and decisions have to be made. I am especially interested in the following: The file size for the new map. It looks like developpers are worried about it. And it sounds rather logical at first. Now, ED has decided to drop 32bits OS support. I think that it is a good move. Technology is improving, computers get loaded with a mass of RAM for example, faster CPU and GCards, and other components overall. My point is that HDD's capacity has evolved too. You can get yourself a 1To hard drive for a decent price. Of course we cannot ignore the fact that the file has to be downloaded as well. But internet traffic and offers keep improving on their side. It might be uncomfortable, I admit, but you would have to theoretically download a few dozen Go only once and probably in different segments. Probably it is not only a matter of space occupied on a physical support. A higher resolution requires more calculating capacity. I simply do not know how much. Bottom line; I prefer to get a more detailled map rather than limiting its file size, unless users would have to own a competition computer. That is my opinion. The purpose of this thread is to see what other community's members think about this :) Thank you, Grigs NB: A poll might be added in the future if the discussion requires it ;)
  7. They are. But they have been limited to 7-7.5 in order to improve their lifetime. But I think Howie's argument is that F16s are better at it, because they can hold it longer. Now people could also argue about endurance and during how long each can fly.
  8. I had already posted it somewhere else, but since we have people who enjoy Deasy's show... At Waddington as well http://vimeo.com/56215602 At Bodø It is a different way to film though.
  9. Even though I agree with that conclusion, I still do not understand why so many people see things in black&white, or rather red&blue. Of course soviet/russian jets were built to face the american (maybe European) ones and vice versa. But this occults another aspect of air combat: confrontation of one model (vs. dissimilar). I am not aware of any server offering that kind of experience. Of course some of them will allow same model on both side. But let's face it, you rarely see a F15vF15 battle. Nontheless, I think this is interesting. Edit: My bad, I have just went a little further and noticed you brought that up
  10. I am pretty sure the F/A 18C will be on the same level. This opinion is realying on nothing but my feeling.. Difference to me, is that having a (nearly) fully clickable cockpit is harder to deal with while flying a fighter jet. And still, it should not be a huge inconvenient. There are not so much knobs and keys to be used while over the battlefield once you are engaging (as long as you have the HOTAS, and btw I really hope someone will produce the Hornet's one, and yes, I know there is a private project already). *Finger crossed*
  11. I think that there is a huge mass of people who just wanted to fly planes in the World in the first place. Flying a jet is a fantasm that can come true in FSX through an add-on, despite the fact you cannot employ weapons.
  12. I am simply wondering if such a model as teased here does not encounter more success in the FSX community. I have flown FSX but not much. I am simply conviced that there is still a huge community behind, especially since MS Flight was not really designed for the simulators lovers. Give them such a F-15E and you might earn some good money. By the way, are there official statistics from ED on products sold?
  13. And the mission planer failed..again!
  14. Since obviously ED & partners are planning to develop the naval aspect of the simulator, a chopper flying in this kind of context would fit nicely in my opinion (cf. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=109642). It would present something quiet new. The challenge to operate from ships. I know this is already possible with the Ka-50, but I have in mind daily ops. Naval warfare against ships, submarines (with the use of a sonar), surveillance/patrolling/coast guards, transport. I won't name any helicopter which could fit in, there are several available. Cheers
  15. That's my point. Civilian non flyable aircrafts should be part of that living world :)
  16. Sorry if this has been said before, but I would really like to simply have civilian traffic. No need for thousands of models, and even less for advanced ones. Simply conctacts that would add more challenge regarding situational awareness. I can see some guys coming to say that if there it is an open war scenarion, chances for civilian flights to stop are high. But there are still cases when it would be interesting. Edit: Sorry guys, just read the thread's title over, and I am way off =] So, I would love to see more civilian planes of different kinds, but I do not feel like they should be made playable
  17. I have not been able to touch Lock On for a long time now. Thus, I have never been able to get my hands on DCSW. Nontheless, I am not sure that the different ships' models were improved in order to see really nice damage models. I hope I am explaining clearly enough. I simply mean that until FC2/BS1, I have always been thinking that the damages models were quiet poor on the boats' side. Sad, but not important to me since we firstly want to sit in a cockpit. Now that you are asking about it, well, this is what is hitting my mind. If you are willing to see some naval warfare, then it would be nice to see better effects. In general, thank you for asking for our opinion :)
  18. Maybe this has been addressed already, but in this case (streaming from your computer to a website/server), you should pay attention to the theoretical upload value, not the download one. Indeed I assume that you posted the download one (which, itself, is rarely 100% used). Sorry to sound a little bit pessimistic, but it is what it is ,) Anyway, your idea sounds interesting to me. I cannot wait to get back in business :)
  19. Thank you for spending all that time of yours to demonstrate your point Rage ,)
  20. Yes you are right. В stands for Верхний in russian (high) Н stands for Нижний (low) I am probably slightly wrong about the exact words to use in russian, but the idea is correct ,) Good luck
  21. I totaly agree, thanks fitness
  22. I do not know why a section dedicated to bookmakers hasn't been created yet. It definitely has its place on this website/forum :)
  23. Oh ok I get you, sorry for misunderstanding. I thought you were talking about them in general and not purely from a FC ingame's point of view =] I totaly agree
  24. As I understand your initial post, you are happy about the HDD in the Su-27's cockpit in navigation mode: I was surprised to read that since the F/A-18's MFD (which you can see in the picture I posted earlier) can display a map for navigation with colors, reliefs, waypoints, and several different overlays. To me, this is even better than Su-27's navigation system on HDD =)
