  1. I'm having a similar issue. I get the old 2D screen, and can refuel, but can't select armaments on any station. (didn't try changing livery, was on a multiplayer server) Edit to add: A check offline is giving me the same issue. Got it working, at least offline, unable to test multiplayer for now. Verify files was showing nothing wrong, but you never know. So I renamed DCS.exe to DCS.old, (C/Program files/Eagle Dynamics/DCS World OpenBeta/bin) ran the repair function and let it redownload the .exe. No dice. But there have been issues in the past with major updates that old missions need a resave, so I went into the mission editor and saved a mission, even after making no changes, and rearm started working in all my offline missions, even the ones I hadn't resaved. Don't know if it was the redownload, or the act of saving a mission, so try just saving any mission first. Fix is persisting after several closes to desktop and restart, too. If I run into any more issues with this, or have test results in multiplayer, will post here.
  2. Removed due to duplication, see below.
  3. That's exactly what I did, copied files over from my old computer when I got this one. I suspect Windows flagged the files as unalterable (read only or some other system flag) and would not allow the updater to actually change any existing files yet allowed the updater to make changes to let the sim think it was updated, creating a mis-match that tripped an authenticator failure. A big clue to me was the repair function flagging every module and map as "extra files" that did not belong and deleting them. Odd though that I could do some of the other smaller updates without an issue, as well as change my input and snap view configs, etc. But it's Windows, it's always doing something annoying Got everything downloaded and installed, authenticates just fine now. So the lesson from all this for me is to just bite the bullet on a new computer, do the download and install DCS fresh. Probably not a bad idea anyway, lots of junk and baggage accumulates over time that's good to get rid of as it is. But yeah, that download can be painful, especially if you own a lot of maps and modules!
  4. I'm doing something similar. Re-ran the validater, checked the box for any extra files. It found some, but when i deleted them, apparently it also deleted all my modules and maps. But no more authentication error, and the module manager is now recognizing all my valid modules and is re-installing everything. Looks like that will fix it, at least it's a lot of progress. My advice would be to anyone updating to 2.7, validate all files and let it remove any extras (usually old mods or leftover files from and old update) before updating to 2.7. My guess is that 2.7 is a major overhaul, and a corrupted file or old mod can wreak havoc on the update. Don't know why it deleted everything, perhaps some files got corrupted by having those old mods in when I updated. And back up your input and config folders in saved games first, you never know......
  5. Same here, before update all was well, after update no authorization. I did a test, can't launch those three, so the 3 day timer is likely for the others, indicating a total authorization failure.
  6. After updating to 2.7 I get failed authorization on the Supercarrier, FA-18C, and A10C-II. Everything worked perfectly fine before the update. I have resynced my clock (twice), run the file verification, and verified that I am still showing the modules as active on the ED website. My older modules verified just fine, it's only these three that are failing. Interestingly enough, the three that no longer use a serial number. Module manager is showing I need to purchase those modules, which I did years ago. There is no error code, just the 23:59:59 countdown timer and the list of failed activations.
  7. Worked a treat for me, thanks! Finally got a new computer, having to set up my modules again. Old curve was close, but not as good as it could be. I used the calculator, curve is dead-on now. I highly recommend this, saves a lot of time and effort to tweak the curve manually. BTW the calculator is truly stand-alone, doesn't install anything, and I got no hits on any anti-virus check. Just be sure to download from the source above, and not a 3rd party.
  8. Once we got above the Pentium series, CPU improvements have been pretty incremental, avg of about 3-5%. So upgrading less than every 5 years or so gives a poor performance to cost ratio. AMD has made some good leaps lately, but that hasn't been the industry average. Most efficient upgrade path for the past decade or more has been new CPU every 5 - 6 years, new GPU about every 2 - 3. Due to health and financial issues, it's been ten years for me now, but new rig is on order, just having to wait out the current delays. But I've waited 5 years, can go the 6 weeks OK. (Don't enjoy it, but can do it. )
  9. I have to wonder how long the current price gouging can last without killing the industry it's feeding off of.
  10. TM Warthog user here. I use the paddle switch as a modifier, and use paddle+CMS switch for zoom forward, back, and right for reset. I have the slider set up for zoom as well if I want to keep a zoom level for a while and as a backup. I also use paddle +airbrake back for landing gear toggle, +throttle pinky switch for my refueling gate, +DMS for NVG, and +TMS for kneeboard. Saves me a lot of keyboard work.
  11. Due to the way the HUD data is displayed in the sim, the glass is actually a portal and not a display, and the data is actually a projection about 3 feet in front of the cockpit that is hidden from view outside of the portal created by the HUD glass unless you are in the no cockpit mode. As you move your head position forward and back, the portal size enlarges or shrinks, but the data display stays the same, so you cut off the data when you move your head back, as the two are not linked. This has been an issue for years. The only way to move your head position back without cutting off the data is to zoom back so the total view changes, and live with the small "fisheye" effect, otherwise, you have to get used to shifting your head around to read the display. I had a fix a long time ago that worked for me, but it lasted only about a day before it got broken again (and from feedback I got, may have only worked for me due to a quirk in my particular system at the time). I haven't tried any more file edits with the new default head position being at least close enough to what I like to fly with now. If you use TrackIR, set up the Z axis, then you can lean forward a little bit, and center it, so you will get a little bit of a zoomed out effect when you sit in your normal position and not have to keep adjusting the zoom level. SFAIK there is no way to save zoom level as part of setting the default head position using snap views, as it only saves the "physical" positions.
  12. Currently in R/L the hog is being used for CAS for counterinsurgency operations, which is a low threat environment even by today's standards. The idea it was designed for low threat environments is a myth though, as the original strategic planning allowed for the A-10's to all be destroyed within 72 hours in the event of a full-scale war with the Soviet Union in Europe. They were intended to disrupt the initial attack by destroying tanks, troops, and equipment on their initial thrust into western Europe, (primarily tanks) and buy time for a NATO response. That war never came, and the mission for the A-10 evolved as warfare evolved. It became a premier platform for the small proxy wars and insurgencies we have today. Also at the time of it's development, SAM technology was a lot different, and while it was to be the sacrificial lamb, it would have survived a lot longer on the battlefield than it would today, and was designed for low level flight and the use of terrain masking to avoid SAMs. What would be considered a high threat environment then would be a moderate threat environment today. Let's not forget this aircraft is over 40 years old. It has received numerous updates, but it's base design and primary mission, to attack ground targets in an AO with active air defenses, has remained the same. The tactics for destroying SAM sites has also remained the same for the A-10, pop up attacks using terrain masking. However, in modern planning, more capable SEAD aircraft are sent in first, and the A-10 is only expected to handle short-mid range SAM sites that may have been overlooked, if at all. As an example of it's use on a modern full war battlefield, and what we could have expected from it in the 80's in a war against the Soviet Union, take a look at both of the Gulf wars, where we were squared up against a country using 70's/80's Soviet equipment. Granted, the training and tactics of the Iraqis were sub-par, but the technology was the same, and we could extrapolate a rather positive outcome. The Russians took note, and it's reflected in their current TO&E.
  13. If you install A10C-II with -I already installed, instead of duplicating files, it hardlinks to the existing ones. I am using my old -I export file for Helios as before and it's working fine, so I suspect all the exports are actually coming from the -I. Since you had it working before, try just using the old export file, might save some work.
  14. I'd recommend a dead zone of about 5 (or more if it still drifts) for the TM Warthog, the cursor slew nib is a little flaky returning to center. Y saturation on both axis of 20 - 30 depending on how fast you like it to move. Had no need of a curve from there as I have a light touch on it, but it may be helpful for some.
  15. I just added a modifier to the mic switches for menus, so modifier+mic switch forward/aft/down gets the menu for that radio. No need to script anything, and with SRS or Voice Attack, the regular mic switch is left open, but I still have access to the in-game menus if I wish.
  16. Nvidia updates are usually just adding support for new games, and very little, if anything, to do with the core functionality. I wouldn't bother unless I was playing those specific games, or having other issues. On the occasion that they do make core changes, I highly recommend letting others be the testers, and not update until you can see feedback on different forums. Nvidia has launched some bad updates in the past.
  17. Not working for me, HUD not scaling when moving head position back, occluded if moving head position up or down. Works only in the default head position. Def. not the "floating" image it once was, and should be.
  18. Path only holds the aircraft attitude where it was when activated, so if out of trim, you will drift. The advantage to this though, is you can do things like get into a turn, set path, and have the aircraft hold an orbit for you while you sort something out, or are standing by for tasking, etc. Be aware though that path includes pitch, so if nose up, you will continue to climb until you reach stall point or max alt depending on throttle & pitch settings, and if nose down, it will continue down until you have an "unscheduled landing" :) If you want to lock in to a waypoint or something and fly hands-free, then use ALT/HDG, and it will override trim and control settings, but you have to be within a few degrees of level flight when activating it (5 IIRC).
  19. Take advantage of it while you can.
  20. [Deleted post to prevent confusion for new players] Disregard, found the issue, and it was a problem between the panel and the seat :D Seems I have been away from the sim a lot longer than I thought!
  21. In these days of constant budget cuts and diversion of funds for congressional pet projects, there's a very good chance that the rope is there to keep the top of the dash in place, and you really don't want to know how much duct tape is holding the ejection seat together......... :D
  22. No, you will get both modules if you purchase it after release. However , the new module will be more expensive, so if you buy the A10C now, and the new one when it comes out, you'll save $10. But you only have a few days left, as the "old" module will no longer be available once A10C-II is released. Either way, you'll have both, as they are maintaining both modules. So you have to decide if you want to have both and 10 bucks in your pocket too. :)
  23. As a separate module, it will have it's own folders, etc. just like any other. Most of the commands are going to be the same, so copy/paste and edit should work fine. You will want to verify the settings for the new HOTAS commands, such as the laser maverick, HMSC, etc. but otherwise they should be the same for everything else. I do recall reading somewhere that a few new command lines have been added to help with non standard setups, such as home cockpits, but it was a while back, not sure what all new command lines we will have, or if some are going to be in an update for the old module as well.
  24. Yes is a safe bet, but I don't know when it will get released, sometimes it's right away, sometimes it takes a little while. ED seems to be quicker about it than some 3rd part devs though, so I won't be surprised if we see it fairly soon after the module releases. With the Pave Penny pod removed and some other items, they will have to release a new template for livery creation, the old one just isn't going to work, and custom skins are a big part of the sim for many.
  25. For all practical purposes beta is release, stable is a backup. Maybe not intended that way, but it's what it has become in practical use.
