  1. First off, congratulations to the entire Leatherneck simulations team for getting this bird off the ground and not only that but managing to (more than likely) set the high water mark for other developers (including ED themselves) to live up to. Finally, the trailer is fantastic, it really gets the heart pumping to say the least. This looks to be a excellent (though two days late) Birthday present!
  2. That was a fantastic video and very educational as well. I am still scared to death of such systems, hopefully I will be able to get over it enough to give that system a try.
  3. I think it is safe to say that when most folks say we have enough ground attack, they are talking about PFM/ASM level aircraft and not Flaming cliffs level aircraft. If you are just looking at PFM/ASM level aircraft, the ground attack role is well represented while the modern (or even 3rd generation and up) fighter role is barely even touched upon.
  4. Well, that pretty squarely crossed the line into insulting the dev's territory. Since you clearly are a better judge of texture art than the person who did the textures, why not just make your own mod that pleases you specifically and be done with it?
  5. The MiG-15's damage model is not really complete at all, hopefully the next official update brings some additional fleshing out of the MiG-15 AI. That said, I have managed to take out a MiG-15 with a couple of GAR-8's.
  6. Thanks JorgeIII, that is exactly what I was looking for!
  7. Do you hang around just to tell us how little interest you have in the MiG, I mean, I just don't get how that is doing anything for you.
  8. I am just trying to determine what the best cruise speed would be for the MiG at altitudes between 30'000 to 40'000 feet, because there is always that perfect speed where drag is minimal but I can't find anything on what that speed would be for the MiG.
  9. I was just curious if anyone here knows what the stall speed of the MiG-21Bis is, I have been looking though various pdf's and websites with no luck. Figured it would not hurt to ask here. Thanks in advance for any help.
  10. It will be really nice when folks like Bunyap, Froogle and other folks get to release some really solid video content, as it stands, this livestream was a lot like the first one done by Devildog, it is always nice to see the MiG in action but it is hard to understand how someone who clearly plays a lot of DCS sims can think that yanking the stick around is going to result in anything but a stall or spin. Ah well, in the end it is just good to see the MiG get covered, the more publicity for it, the better.
  11. Here is the Seems like it is going to be a lot like the first livestream but it is still footage and that is always worth it.
  12. That was a great video, I was hoping Froogle would get his hands on the MiG so we could get his impressions. You can almost see the grin on his face as he is describing how cool the module is.
  13. That is my feeling as well, watching the livestream and reading the write-ups about it indicate that each systems level of interaction is modeled down to the smallest detail, even closing the canopy is a interesting process. Not knocking on ED's work thus far, it is just that the MiG is so dang amazing even from the bits that we have seen.
  14. I suspect that we will see a DCS standalone release much sooner than the steam release, both the Sabre and the Dora steam releases were a good chunk of time after the non-steam release. I am hoping it is sooner (like early September) rather than later (like late mid to late September) as the posts from folks with promo copies are driving me crazy.
  15. Here is the link I thought there was a embargo?
  16. When you talk about the wheel brake system, is there no bleed air supply for the the wheel brakes at all? Is it a closed system with a limited amount of uses during the take-off/landing?
  17. All these new screens look really fantastic, I hope that we can get some more details about the general level of detail before the module comes out. To ask a more direct question, Cobra, do you think you could provide some insight into the level of interaction we will have with the cockpit? More specifically, it seems that Leatherneck have really worked hard to make things a bit more detailed than we might be used to, is that the case?
  18. Simple AI B-17? I was thinking that perhaps the Dora and the Mustang would feel more at home in DCS World if they had a simple AI controlled B-17 bomber to make missions around. Having such a AI aircraft would provide context for fights between the Mustang and Dora instead of just doing fighter sweeps for each other over and over again. What do you all think?
  19. Hey Cobra, what is the embargo for? I am just curious.
  20. So the systems on the plane are all there? It is just missing rockets?
  21. After getting the F-86 and noticing that it is missing some pretty key features (drop tanks...), I figured I would ask how complete this module is before getting it, are there any systems that are not yet put in?
  22. I don't personally have any tracks (yet, though I will be recording them from now on to add) but it really does feel like the destructive potential of weapons like the .50 is very low indeed, when you watch gun camera footage from allied (.50 equipped) aircraft, you see them chew up enemy aircraft with pretty conservative amounts of ammo, heck, even the pilots talked about how powerful the .50 was and how lethal a burst from six of them could be. I don't really see that reflected in DCS at all, I could pick either the Sabre or the Mustang, take on just about any enemy (that I can realistically hit) and fill them full of shots all over (not looking at the bullet holes on the model, actually observing where my shots land as I hit) with little effect compared to the aformentioned gun camera footage. Perhaps there is some factor in the relationship between the ballistics and damage model that is simply not taken into account, the bullets may do the right amount of damage but perhaps not in a large enough area? It feels like shooting a .45 at a piece of wood, in reality, it would hit the wood hard and put a pretty decent hole in it. DCS on the other hand is like using that same gun against that same wood but only putting a .45 size hole in it with no other damage around the hole.
  23. To add to what Fishbike has posted, I have found that the fuel transfer pump (the sound we are hearing) is designed to pull fuel from either the rear tank or the upper front tank, apparently there is a switch that allows you to select what tank you want to drain first (for trimming purposes) but the model we are using may not have that switch at all. Either way, that is what the sound is.
  24. As silly as it may sound, is this something that could be modded in the meantime?
  25. I will agree that patience is a virtue, that is not really up for debate. however (as I keep saying on this topic), the MiG-21 is kinda a special case now, a lot of folks here have been very loyal to this project for a long time now, as the release gets closer and closer, anticipation will go up respectively. With anticipation comes a little bit of understandable impatience and since this project has appeared to be close to release before, the anticipation becomes even more understandable. What I am saying here is that the MiG is a pretty big deal for a lot of us here, these past few months have felt like waiting for Christmas day as a kid with all the impatience that can come with that, lets not be so quick to dismiss it and just say "it will be here when it gets here" as a way to silence that anticipation.
