  1. Thank you for the feedback, i will try and not change the load outs in them. good to know that this was part of the mission design, wasn't sure how many really think through that.
  2. Thanks for all the hard work, i have just started to enjoy the campaign, just getting into mission 3 or 4. I had a more general question. I haven't really done many story-line or campaign type missions sets, more just a few stand alone missions when im not practicing things. In general is it customary to try and only use the weapon load outs provided by the mission creator, and more specifically, is the intent with this, that we try and stick to the standard load outs? I ask because i found myself changing them on the first couple missions because i they are pretty specific about staying at 13K-15K or higher and at those altitudes the Mk 82 are wasteful either because im still not good with them or they are just not good at such altitudes. My understanding is that it is the latter, but this question isn't to debate the finer points of the munitions or my skills. So as a mission and campaign designer with such high caliber in quality and detail overall, do you take the time to setup load outs for the missions that you intend for us to use specifically? I started to feel like i may have been cheating a bit or something by straying from the default load out, figure i would get your take on it. anyway, so far i love the campaign, and look forward to my continued progression Thanks!!
  3. For starters, when you run in 'windowed mode' with the full dimensions it really doesn't look any different so its not really anything to worry about.. a second monitor is really preferred though in my opinion. Than said, it is very clearly stated as a requirement, and its also clear that you should try and evaluate the free version of the app before paying. This is directly from the Apple App store (I added the bold) So in all fairness, it is made VERY clear whats required and that you can and should test for free
  4. @f4l0 and Hollywood_315 Both of these updates sounds great, im still starting with VA and haven't fully gotten used to it. Since dont really have all the commands memorized, not seeing the menus has made it a bit tricky, i had to keep the profile open and look up the commands and how to chain them together. im sure i will get more used to it soon. Also regarding the hotkeys. just a suggestion, i know a few people including myself have remapped the num pad numbers for CDU entry. instead of the original num 0, num1 and so on, i changed to the "up, down, right left" arrows. Since with any joystick, you will never use these, where the num pad could be used my many... just a suggestion, as the right, left, down easily match to the mic switch, and you can use up for the \ command or easy comms or whatever... jut my 2 cents on how i modified the hotkey file
  5. i had this happen to me.. didnt think it was related but i had previously had the X52 pro What i did was take my original hex number from my TM WH, then went to all the folders and deleted them with the hex numbers for MY joystuck and throttle. I then coppied all of the .lua files from the this profile over and went thought and renamed them with my original hex number. This seemed to work perfectly. I still had to update the modifer for each aircraft profile, but otherwise it all seemed to work for me
  6. figures i had been waiting a few months to get one for a sale, finally bought one a week or 2 ago on amazon. doesn't it figure there would now be a sale somewhere.. Nice find though, thanks for sharing for those that still are looking for one, this is a good price. Almost 40 less than what i paid Update: wohoo, Amazon did a price match for me and refunded me the difference... so also FYI for anyone that might have recently bought from Amazon (im not sure the official duration)
  7. Thank you guys, Yes im aware i could create it from scratch, but was hoping to not reinvent the wheel if someone had already done so. Thanks for sharing that one tintifaxl, its helpful, thats along the lines of what im after
  8. I have just transition from my X-52 to the warthog and with my X-52 Pro i had this excel template originally done by Puklesh (http://goo.gl/GQbj88), and i could just fill in as needed for each new setup, and easily make changes as i updated the profiles. I have spent the last 30-40 mins looking all over and while i have found tons of templates, they are either images/psd or pdf. I have seen some references to some word (office) formatted versions but they were dead links. Does anyone have a copy of, or a link to a template in a office format preferably, or some type of template that i can edit without needing Photoshop/similar? My search skills must suck cause i have to imagine this has come up many times, i just cant find a a live link to a word/excel or similar formatted template that can be updated quickly/easily.
  9. TrackIR was one of my first purchases when i started with DCS... at the time i was using an old MS Sidewinder stick, with a slider for the throttle control. So i would def go with TrackIR first. Than said, the cost of the TrackIR isn't nearly as much as a TM Warthog, so start with TrackIR save for another month or so and you should be ok for the Warthog.
  10. Awesome, thanks for sharing, it looks really sharp
  11. not sure if i exactly understand the question, but while i don't usually have too many FPS issues, when i do the trackIR doesn't seem to be directly impacted... so for example, if the fps starts to drop, the view change/head movement doesn't generally get all choppy. The view will still move smoothly but the whats being shown will get a bit choppy with fps drop... same as if the view didnt change. hope that makes sense and answered your question
  12. unless you are moving you head all over a lot when there are a lot ob objects being rendered you shouldn't notice any significant hit. your hardware isn't that "bad". Even still, it is such a game changer in the way you interact with the sim, its worth it from any perspective (IMO)
  13. the TrackIR is worth every penny, while it wont help with your FPS obviously it will give you a whole new world in the simulator. all else aside i feel you should go for this. That said, as others have noted, changing CPUs likely isn't going to make a huge difference. I run with the 8 core 8350. i have a water cooler but to be honest i usually run with my speed stepped down a bit to around 3.7Ghz. I actually cap it off 1.4 or 2.1 when im not gaming just to save power, the CCC for the AMD boards lets you make these changes on the fly. I think your best step would be a GPU upgrade. Going with a newer AMD or Nvidia card will likely give you the largest improvement of any other single change. My XFX R9 280X can be had at a decent price, and for me it works well. I have never run an Nvidia card so i cant speak to them. I rarely have FPS issues but to be honest im not a freak about it. i only even look at the FPS counter if things don't look smooth. and it usually ends up being a result of something else running in the background. The SSD is always a good thing, i have one for my system volume, but i have most of my games including DCS isntalled on a separate SATAIII drive. it makes load times a bit longer, but i dont think it will affect FPS too much.. however i could be wrong on this point. So in short, def go with the TrackIR And for hardware upgrade, start watching for deals on newer AMD/Nvidia cards (slickdeals.net is a great place to start, you can setup deal alerts to get emails when there are deals for what your wanting) But as noted by blkspade, if your willing to wait a bit we may find that DCS World 2.0 and/or EDGE could actually give you an improvement. At least at that point if you still need an upgrade you can see what people are reporting works best with the new engine. Knowing that is be said to come out this year it depends on how fast you want to fix the issue.
  14. @Maverick sounds like this will be a good decision for the community, as long as they are not expecting perfect 100% of the time. Im new to the multi-player side of DCS, and i have been following this thread for a while and really hope to start trying it out very soon. I have read others say the same thing so i know im not totally along but there is a bit of intimidation when first jumping into the real online multi-player server side of DCS. i think it will give me more interaction and enjoyment in the world of DCS once i can get myself to start. Just dont want to be "that guy" that comes in and does everything wrong. That said i really like what i see in how this server/community seems to be run and look forward to it... thank you for your work and focus on building such a strong system for us all.
  15. well thank you everyone again for the feedback and shared input. I will be starting to the process to re-train the brain on which pedal to use
  16. It so strange how the brain works.. Habits formed with your fingers (slider) or wrist (twist grip) are converted to leg/foot actions. Well thanks for confirming im not a freak (well at least about this) and that i have to break these bad habits. Hopefully i can do that quickly.
  17. yea i figured thats why it 'felt' a bit more natural, but wanted to get confirmation so i can correct it as needed. I can say that i never really focused too much on the rudder in planes, mostly choppers. I got these mainly cause i started using the WWII planes and others like the Sabre, and MiG-21 and thought hey be good, especially with the toe brakes. But i can see how much better turns can really be with proper rudder input and a well coordinated turn so i think it will be better overall. Also figured it would make my 3 helicopters more controllable (wrong, still a lot to get used to there too). Im still glad i got them, i just didnt expect as much of a learning curve
  18. Yes i found the brake one and correct that real quick I also found that using toe brakes on the A-10 is really hard. as it hard to apply even pressure to both. Its a bit off topic, but in real A-10's do they only have a left a right separate toe brake for their brakes? and they have to learn to apply even pressure? or is there common "brake" ability that applies pressure to both/all brakes
  19. Ok thanks i will make to set it back. yesterday i had set the axis to 'invert' and found it more natural for some reason. But as i said, the last thing i need to to develop bad habits. Not that im gonna be flying real planes or anything, but in a real plane you cant just invert the pedal with a check box so good habit are important.
  20. well thank you for confirming im not the only one that encountered this.. it was rather strange realization. :)
  21. Hello all, I just received my Saitech Combat rudder pedals and when i started using them the strangest thing happened. I found that i was fighting muscle memory that i shouldn't have. I have never had pedals, and i have i have only ever flown a real plane once (a discovery flight at a local airport). So with that, i should not have any muscle memory or instinctual movements in my legs for right or left. However the strangest thing happened. When i thought about it, and wanted to turn left i would push the left pedal, and same for right. But later in my taxi's, and first couple flights i found that when i pushed the pedals while not thinking about it (multi-tasking) i seemed to instinctually push the right pedal to go left i have read a few threads on this, and it seems that the proper setup for the rudder pedals (Joy_RZ) axis to NOT be inverted so the default left is left and right is right seems to be correct. Validation on this point would be welcome. I wonder if im alone in this anomaly with the instinctual inversion. I was trying to think of why i had it and the only thing i can think of is that i have always used my stick twist for rudder.. to rudder left i twist left.. but when i thought about it... what happens when you twist left... the right side of the stick twists away from you and the left side comes towards you.. if you apply that to pedals, going left would be pushing the right pedal away from you... so MAYBE that is why i have this instinctual or muscle memory movement? who knows. just wondering if anyone experienced this. That said, i think i confirmed this in reading a couple threads, but i want to make sure.. so i can fix any bad habits now. So to be clear, to apply left rudder (turn left), the correct action is in fact to push the left pedal away from you... and for right rudder (to turn right) it would be to to push the right pedal away from you. sorry if this is silly, it just seemed like a strange thing to me and wanted to post something. Edit: i just realized this may be the wrong forum Mods, please feel free to move this to the: http://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=96 forum if apprpriate
  22. great news, when i found this thread and saw it was a bit older i was really hopeful it had been completed. Even though its not, im happy to hear its still planned for publishing. I look forward to it.
  23. Thanks for this, i was looking at the version that i saved from the install directory. apparently it was recently updated.. glad to see a new one, i felt there was a lot missing from the one i had been reviewing now i have lots more info to go through I think i did come across this video when i was searching, but i tend to skip over videos without voice over cause i suck at trying to read and watch. I will go back and give it a watch, thanks Also, HeadHunter52 and Eros, thanks for the info, i will be sure to take this into account as i continue to learn this plane.
  24. Did this skin ever get completed? Was the documentary/interview ever get published?
