F-15 Campaign, Mission 3 - Outstanding mission, Wags!
TurboHog replied to Agiel7's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
I've flown this mission with a friend recently (The Co-Op version) and it was awesome indeed! Fired two slammers, while evading R-27's from the escort planes. So I broke off as the slammers went pitbull. My wingman continued and moments later confirmed my kill while taking on one of the escort Su-27's. We RTB'd, having successfully taken down the A50 and one Su-27. Although technically speaking the mission is really simple (My thoughts as a mission designer), it's a joy to fly. -
Laser guided weapons on Su-25 - are they any use?

Practise... a lot of it. -
Laser guided weapons on Su-25 - are they any use?
TurboHog replied to Gloom Demon's topic in Su-25 for DCS World
Here is a track. Use DCSW V1.2.6. I try to keep the reticle around its default position as a workaround for the possible bug that Frostie reported. I hit 3/4 Avenger SAMS. Had some difficulty spotting the third one against the background. 3/4 to 4/5 is my usual kill ratio for humvee-sized targets at max distance. Less reliable than a maverick in DCS, but still very effective. Another advice: Attack the target from an angle such that the surface you can hit is at its largest. Kh-25ML kills.trk -
Laser guided weapons on Su-25 - are they any use?

I'm talking about the non-AFM Kh-25ML in DCSW 1.2.6 in my post btw. That is usefull info judging by pepin's post. -
Laser guided weapons on Su-25 - are they any use?
TurboHog replied to Gloom Demon's topic in Su-25 for DCS World
With the Kh-25ML I can hit a humvee most of the times from max distance (that is: Launching when the light for launch authorization turns on) Some tips: Zoom in on your hud. Don't lower the ASP-17 glass Keep the reticle in boresight position (!) Failing to do so will make your missile fall short in most of the cases (Haven't figured out if this is a bug or realism) The boresight thing is something I only recently discovered. I always lowered my ASP-17 and the missile always fell short. Now I keep it raised, I lock the target and try to keep it in the original position by actively controlling the airplane. There is a nice (imaginairy) reference line that you can use to keep the reticle in the right position. I'm very bad at describing it. The sort of 'structure/bracket' that holds your hud in place. Draw a line between their top and keep your reticle on or around that line. Now the only thing you have to do is make the target 'dissapear behind the dot' Will make track when I have time. -
It is indeed a waste of money if your hit chance is too low. But after a lot of practise I can hit a humvee from max range so I'll just take them anyway :smilewink: It's the Su25's maverick for me, only a bit more difficult to use.

Yea. The IR-Jammer is indeed there. Still going to consider the loadout valid for the Su-25 though.

It doesn't have the shape of a T or TM? On the other hand, the way the gun is mounted... But the nose is too round.

The Official "Where's my Update" Thread
TurboHog replied to Revvin's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Really? There was an update before the Russian holidays. Compared to the update frequency of upcoming Belsimtek projects these guys are doing an awesome job. (Oh and in the end BST delivers awesome stuff so don't worry about RRG) C'mon... -
4 x Kh-25ML + 2xFuel tank (I think) @ 1:46 in the video below. This also happens to be my usual loadout for pinpoint strikes on SAM and AAA defended sites/targets. Su-25 in the video is possibly upgraded to SM standard.
-
Why would you taxi with a loadout like that and dont fly with it? Unless you believe that it was just a taxi test... Taxiing or flying - it proves the same thing. Again, if range to target allows the extra drag, then why not? You already know that real Su-25's are equipped this way. Now you have to assess for yourself whether you need the amount of ordnance and if your desired combat radius allows it. The latter is left to your imagination as it is near impossible for an outsider to find out about these rules/procedures.

8xUB-32 S5 rocket pods 9:30 18:36 I think the drag issues would be the same as with the S-8 rocket pods. With all the static examples of 8x S-8 pods it is most likely that this loadout has seen action. If the range to target allows the extra drag, of course.

Also note that players are currently divided between V1.2.7 beta and V1.2.6. I still play on 1.2.6 and there is a good amount of choice, but I also see that there are a lot of well-known servers that have moved to the open beta. When V1.2.7 goes official you will see some improvement.

160 x S-8 8 x S-24 2 x Fuel tank, 80 x S-8, 2 x S-24, 2 x R-60

Use your imagination. Just like BI devs did when they came up with the fictional conflict in Arma 3.
-
First get DCSW V1.2.6, then install the A10. Both downloads feature the latest update of V1.2.6 (1.2.6.20768.297-292). No additional patching is required.

Payware Models for DCSW (ONLY External 3D Models ! )
TurboHog replied to HungaroJET's topic in DCS Modding
Yes, sounds good. Provided that means quality over quantity and ensures multiplayer compatability for all DCSW users. Best thing would be: developers are allowed to submit their models to ED, which are then (if approved) added to DCSW via the auto-updater. -

This is ED's task. For the sake of multiplayer compatibility. -
Absolute minimum specs for DCS ?
TurboHog replied to Extranajero's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
i3-2120 + HD5670 and 4GB DDR3 1066Mhz here. I play on Low - medium settings. There is no point in playing online with more than 5 pilots. I flew a co-op mission with a buddy last week. Not so many vehicles in the mission but it was overcast and raining. 15FPS. Single player with clear skies is ok with FPS between 20 and 30. It is possible to play with 4GB (low-med settings), but closing DCS takes five minutes because there is no more memory to unload DCS. Based on these experiences I would say that your computer is not capable of running DCSW. Next year, which could be within 5 hours now that I think about it, I will upgrade my system. -
A-10C Mini Campaign: Operation Save Badger (SP & MP)
TurboHog replied to Quirkitized's topic in User Created Missions General
Hey, Just finished your mini-campaign! I completed the missions together with a friend and we really enjoyed it! The missions are immersive and can easily be completed with two (human and experienced) A10C pilots. So here are some of our experiences (Spoiler alert!): Overall it was very well put together and we are looking forward to play Operation Jackal! -
I took this technique a little bit further, if I may say so: I use a single manually released 1xflare program (A) and a single 2xchaff program (B). This way I can determine myself how much countermeasure I deploy based on the threat. If an IR-SAM launch is right below me, I go crazy on CMS fwd. If the launch is a bit further away and behind me, I go more easy on the flares. If I'm doing a gun run I press CMS fwd a couple of times with a 1-3 sec interval. In my experience releasing single flares throughout the flight of the intercepting SAM is more effective than one big burst (or two flares at a time). And indeed: Auto or Semi-Auto. Never again.

Why not install DCS: World V1.2.6 with the Black Shark module activated using your key? I don't think anyone still plays the standalone versions...
