  1. 11520x6480?! What kind of screens are those? I’m surprised you’re even getting 30FPS
  2. That’s really an EW indication, not something you’d rely on WVR as a substitute for your Mk-1 Eyeball. The primary use of the Head Up Display is of course to keep your head up and looking around.
  3. I get that part. Just responding to the idea that turning to see your 6:00 is unrealistic. Also your ChatGPT link there says “impossible… without significant effort” Key point there, you can see the effort exerted in those videos. There’s no good way for a PC game to simulate that. Funny, ChatGPT thinks a HUD is used to help the pilot look around
  4. Watch the video above. It’s like a myth in flight simulation that pilots can’t see their 6:00. DCS actually has quite a realistic modeling of the head and shoulder movement now instead of the owl neck it used to have. Also this. Why do you think the 109 had an armored glass headrest?
  5. Is G Warming a thing in DCS or no? I think it was planned
  6. No doubt flying a fighter jet is physically demanding but some things like wear and tear on your body can’t really be simulated
  7. Interfering with head movement in VR would make players sick
  8. TrackIR runs at 120Hz. Honestly I’ve never noticed any lack of smoothness with it at any frame rate.
  9. Tippis has been on my ignore list for a long time
  10. DLSS is a graphics card feature so MT on your CPU won’t have any effect on that. If you haven’t seen this, it’s what they recommend doing with hyper-threading not multi-threading. Is this what you’re thinking about? They are two differs things. You would not want to disable multi-core (multi-threading) Their advice is: “Currently, users with more than 32 threads should disable HT/SMT, but for everyone else we recommend enabling HT/SMT.” A quick search of your machine says it has a i7-12700H? If so that has 20 threads so it looks like you should leave HT (hyperthreading) enabled.
  11. Yes. It’s doesn’t make sense that these aren’t controlled in multiplayer when dot labels are. These are essentially the same thing and should be regulated in the same manner. Also as far as I can tell the spotting dots are easily exploitable by just lowering resolution to make them bigger. This is certainly a factor. I’ll bet a good portion of the DCS player population is over 50 and suffers from presbyopia as I do myself. But in nearly all cases this is correctable. And I get it that everyone doesn’t have perfect eyesight but that’s why labels are an option in the game. They shouldn’t be forced on for everyone though and we shouldn’t all suffer for the sake of a few stubborn people who won’t go see an eye doctor.
  12. A flaw that’s inherent in the whole concept, it’s drawing dots over aircraft that are large enough to be visible and hiding them. At least dot labels float over the aircraft and allow you to see it. This whole spotting dot idea is terrible and needs to be scrapped. I don’t think there is a way to ever make it work. Just give us a mission setting to turn them off. Thanks. This also needs to be a true Off option not just a toggle to the old 2.8 version. Off should mean no spotting dots at all. And it should be a mission option for the same reason that dot labels are, plus the spotting dots seem to be exploitable by simply lowering the resolution to make them bigger.
  13. Yes, we’ve all read the change log, we are looking for more of a response than that. It’s apparent nobody at ED has tested this feature. Could you please just give us an Off option? That can’t be so difficult. Then you can continue messing around with the dots at your own pace. Thanks
  14. DCS does not support HDR so if the monitor has this mode it should be off. I have an OLED screen and there’s no difference to using this compared to any other screen technology. Check the video settings in your graphics card control panel and set them to default. Check to see if the new monitor has some sort of picture mode enabled like “Game” or “Vivid” etc.
  15. Modifying your opponents visibility in a way that’s not known to or available to everyone in the base game is cheating. Pure and simple. It’s amazing that’s this was possible before and they were right to lock that down. Any game would do the same for something like that. Spotting? Unofficial mods are not a great idea in this game. They cause problems and are a pain to keep up with. They also will stop working at some point, like this spotting mod which I can assume doesn’t work well anymore even if you enabled it. Becoming dependent on something which will inevitably stop working is a certain path to frustration. Using them on a server is rather nuts and it’s best to just avoid them entirely IMO
  16. Sure. There are some pretty cool and authentic add-ons in other sims that have authentic commands and interface. A little elaborate for DCS though I think. We would be lucky to get a very simple set of F10 commands.
  17. I’m sure IC exists for a reason. It certainly has a role in preventing easy cheating in the game. I can’t see a good argument for not having it. The reason you see those servers still populated without it is that frankly there’s not an alternative to them. I’m sure most people would prefer to have it on. And that was just one server doing that for a few months, not permanently eliminating it on the entire game. That would be disastrous. Well that’s an inherent flaw of sorts with the whole concept of using dots. The feature should be a mission setting like dot labels or simply combined with them.
  18. Just because cheating already happens doesn’t mean there should be even more, it makes no sense to disable it. Indeed ED doesn’t do enough to prevent cheating. Look how the spotting dots were hackable, it makes you wonder what else is. I don’t know of any other game which lets servers run without anti-cheat or decide on whether to enforce it. Yeah but for every person who thinks they’re modifying this realistically or fairly there will be people who just exploit that setting.
  19. Yes they did. It puzzles me why anyone would play like that though and be an unwitting fool for cheaters. It’s actually odd that the IC is up to the servers. I notice you say this in past tense. Perhaps in the long term not enough people were willing to do that. Any server running without an IC would just end up being a magnet for those just wanting to cheat. Servers can be popular too because there simply isn’t an alternative.
  20. By any rational definition the ability to unrealistically highlight your opponents in a way that they can’t do to you is cheating. And it’s clear ED considers that cheating as well. So would you play on an open server without the IC? I can’t imagine anyone would want to.
  21. Nobody likes playing a sport or game with the idea that they’re being cheated on or that it’s even a possibility. No other multiplayer game would have such an obvious hack available in it. Again it’s rather naive of DCS to be like that. For all you know you were visible to your opponent as a big orange ball all those years. Doesn’t that make you feel ridiculous?
  22. Yep. They broke the game thanks to the comments of the 3-4 people who still couldn’t see anything Eventually ED should realize that no matter what they do there will be a segment of players who will not be able to see small objects on their screen, either due to eyesight or screwed up hardware or settings. I’m sitting in a window seat on a plane right now so I have all the real world qualifications necessary to participate in this discussion Cheers
  23. Being a RW pilot has totally nothing to do with this discussion. And this thread isn’t specifically about VR Other games can be arcade games that just do tricks to make all the aircraft easily seen for the sake of “fun”. DCS has labels for that style of gameplay if that’s what you’re looking for.
