Although this seems like a great idea and I know they’re working on it I can’t see the genuine need for this in DCS. Other than just added ambiance. Even the Supercarrier ATC I don’t believe actually separates and de-conflicts the aircraft, it’s just radio messages. The most you could ask for in DCS I think would be something akin to this which actually controls the aircraft and that the AI actually pay attention to and that has reasonably suitable languages or voiceovers. But a full on simulation of real world ATC just seems impossible and unnecessary. If you ask me such things are the realm of civy sims not make stuff go boom games. The DLC campaigns already seem to have nice authentic ATC and voiceovers which is where this likely belongs. The majority of DCS players can’t or don’t even cold start up their aircraft and if MP is any indication, pay any attention to ATC as it is.

Yeah it doesn’t make sense that monitor users can switch them off but VR cannot. Agree. I can’t fathom how anyone figured this was a good idea. The whole concept makes no sense because as far as I see they’re identical in appearance to dot labels. I dare anyone to tell me the difference here
-
Perhaps that behavior should be included in the rules then. Telling someone they’re on your ignore list doesn’t seem to stop them from continually quoting you and harassing you or twisting your words etc.

I can hardly believe my eyes, so I had to run that test again, this time with Spotting Dots Off (or set to v2.8). Now the dot labels are distinctly visible, but you can see they totally look like the spotting dots above. I'm curious for an explanation of why both features are needed. One is a gameplay aid that's controlled in mission and the other purports to be a realistic spotting system. Yet they appear exactly the same. Plus the spotting dots are drawn over aircraft which are otherwise visible and therefore unnecessary.

Oh if they’re using VR they can see you forced to display as a giant cube -
Both of these screenshots (from a 2160x3840 monitor) have the Spotting Dots turned on. One has Dot Labels turned on, the other does not. I challenge you to tell the difference. Also explain why one of these is a server-enforced mission setting but the other is not. From my perspective the Spotting Dots make no sense because they basically duplicate the dot labels but aren't a gameplay aid or mission setting. Therefore, they are just an exploit online and, in some instances, like in VR are egregiously large.

It would be best if the Ignore function on the forum blocked such users from quoting people who have them blocked. Some people cannot take the hint and the use of this function to prevent runaway discussions is nullified.

I see this happen everywhere unfortunately. In many cases I don’t notice it’s actually listed on the rules so I won’t complain.
-
Of course it has to look like that because if the dot was smaller than the model there’d be no point in using them. That’s why spotting dots don’t make any sense. At least a dot label floats over the aircraft and doesn’t hide it. Apparently it’s only forced on for VR players. That doesn’t seem fair.

Like Tom Cruise if the base is under attack, sure. Doing this routinely when the runway is right next to you is just the height of noobish behavior. If I was a server owner this would earn a ban

Yep. He’s back on the ignore list. -
Well so is blasting off from a ramp or taxiway. Servers have scripts like this to discourage using banned weapons so why not this behavior? It’s honestly the most noobish distracting thing people do in fight sims Insto-destruct would be less unrealistic than putting logs and barriers on the taxiways.

Ok I’ll check that if this happens again, thanks

Not a myth, they actually had this up until perhaps a few months ago Lots of people use these I’m sure. About 70% of gamers use Intel CPUs according to Steam. Aside from that trouble they were and still are among the top performing CPUs in sims like this. More like $500 in my case, you’re exaggerating a bit Every good company makes a profit. This fact isn’t nefarious. How do you know? Do you have transcripts of my calls? Something like the CPU problem (which is not their fault) I wouldn’t be able to troubleshoot on my own. I was out of warranty by that point so I wasn’t looking for them to replace it, I actually had that done at a local shop. I imagine any PC vendor would have replaced that if you were within the warranty period. I get it that you build PCs and your marketing strategy seems like you just go haunt sites like this and write wordy rants and criticize everyone else. Making wild attacks and assumptions. How’s that working for you? And your advice on this topic is hardly useful or unbiased as you’re only here to promote yourself. -
Oh sure and this sounds like a great feature for the Dynamic Campaign too. Maybe there could be a script in MP where your plane explodes if you take off without clearance

Indeed it’s funny to imagine realistic ATC in a game where players just routinely blast off from the ramp or taxiway. Realistic ATC and voiceovers seem like the realm of DLC campaigns.

Well they did have 24/7 before, that’s disappointing that this just changed. The support is still lifetime. And everyone was selling Intel 13th Gen CPUs years ago. It’s still a beautiful machine and runs DCS flawlessly, no complaints there. -

FWIW Origin PC indeed has lifetime 24/7 US-based support. I’ve been able to talk to a real person any time I call even at 1am on Saturday (literally). I’ve dealt with some whoppers this year like the Intel chip degradation and such and they’ve been invaluable. -

Yeah I can’t reiterate that enough from my perspective. It doesn’t matter how good a PC is if you can’t get 24/7 lifetime support with it. And I think a lot of the experts underestimate how much support a layperson needs. The “best” machine still needs service and no PC is so good that it doesn’t need regular support. I would rather not be the owner of the world’s most expensive doorstop. I owned my last machine for 10 years so “lifetime” support means my lifetime, not theirs. A established company is much more likely to have that longevity compared to an individual. -

Yeah I suppose if you’re not busy and have more time than money DIY makes sense. But if the reverse applies, not so much. And again it’s not just the assembly but having support. That’s my hot button anyways. And if you don’t have the time and expertise with this it would quickly turn into an ordeal. And this I wouldn’t know unless I just mimicked what I saw on a vendors website. So why not just have them do the job and save myself the trouble? The money is not an issue for me, time and aggravation is.
