Multi-monitor setup with MFCD's and other things
PoleCat replied to ViXaAGe's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It is my understanding that this is an NVidia driver related issue and reverting to the previous series of NVidia driers resolves it. Out -
Works the same for me under Windows 10 as 8.1. reg fix = No blinking. . Out

Multi-monitor setup with MFCD's and other things
PoleCat replied to ViXaAGe's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Ultramfcd is by far the easiest way to set up multiple monitors and MFCD displays with DCS World........ http://ultramfcd.com/ -
I would go with the easiest option for sure. So all that would need to be done is to install this and remove the existing springs? Sounds pretty good to me. Hoping it will center well, that is important. I have other modded Cougars including the NXT mod which is my favorite. I use it with the lighter of the two spring options and it requires little force, moves like a dream, and centers perfectly. If this mod can do the same I am in for two or three of these. Thanks for the efforts. Out

I think you will find Windows 10 pretty excellent. I have found the upgrade from Windows 8.1 to be very smooth on multiple systems. All software and devices are working well so far and it is tad more responsive then Windows 8.1. I think most will find very little wrong with this OS. Bear in mind that you can upgrade for free if you have a previously installed qualifying version of Windows and you will be able to roll back to your previous version for 30 days after the upgrade if you do not like it or have problems (Not sure I like that you cannot roll back after this but...). I say get a good full backup image of your existing system and go check out WinX and test the waters. It's free. I did and I have no regrets. Out

I would really like to obtain lighter versions of the stock Cougar springs. I also have the Uber mod that uses the stock springs. Does anyone have any ideas on how I might find lighter versions of the originals? I would be happy with a similar feel to the original, just requiring less force to move the stick. Thanks for any suggestions you might have. Out

I am using ULTRAMFCD now. Just downloaded it a few weeks ago from their web site. It is really good for a quick setup. I do have issues with FPS and do not like reverting to an older driver set to resolve. I hope the person developing this continues to work on it. It is a really excellent app. If you need a copy of the installer I can get it to you. Out -
This should absolutely be a feature that is added asap! This idea is great! It is similar to the IVibe/TFS3 G-Force effects and it is exactly what is missing from Andrey's most excellent software to complete the experience! With this feature you would have a base engine vibration that is controlled by the analog throttle position, increasing intensity as you pushed throttle forward (you could even perhaps add a secondary programmable point where when crossed an AB effect would kick in with more rumble then full mil for jets). Combine this with positional G-force effects based on analog joystick position which will move the basic engine vibration (or AB vibration) left to right when you apply left stick, right to left when you apply right stick. the vibration will move from under your butt up to your back when diving and from your back down to under your butt when climbing. All of this is relative only to joystick/throttle positions in game. The Analog based engine and positional effects are the base effects (always present). Then you use Andrey's flaps, gear, etc, effects with more pronounced vibes layered on top of this to achieve outstanding results. Adding these features would result in an exceptional boost in immersion. Out

Thrustmaster MFD Cougar Pack - LCD Home Edition
PoleCat replied to Speedbird696's topic in Thrustmaster
A few reasons why I went with modifying my Cougar MFDs over a separate 17" monitor or touch screen. 1. The MFDs modified with small screens fit nicely on a desk in front and below your monitors. I imagine that a 17" monitor would be a bit unwieldy in the same situation. Better if you have a custom pit but still a huge real estate hog. 2. Even though they are small it is my understanding that the TM MFDs are very close in actual size to the real ones (there is a post somewhere showing them side by side). By virtue of them being closer to me on the desk the size seems just fine. 3. While a touch screen is cool indeed even cooler is pushing the buttons on the Cougar MFDs and seeing the changes taking place on MFD screen as they do in the real bird. It really lends to the sense of immersion IMHO. 4. If you already own the MFDSs as I do the 1024x768 panels with the controller board (HDMI\VGA) can be had for 60.00USD each making it as affordable as a single monitor solution. I personally would not use USB. Food for thought.......:joystick: Out -

Thrustmaster MFD Cougar Pack - LCD Home Edition
PoleCat replied to Speedbird696's topic in Thrustmaster
Hi all, I set up my MFD panels and connected them to my machine today. I ended up using the onboard Intel HD Graphics 4600 (Asus Z97-Pro) to drive the two MFD displays and my GeForce 980 is still exclusively dedicated to my triple 28" 1900x1200 LCD's. You can see the photos of the finished MOD a few posts back. I am using one standard HDMI to HDMI for the first display and for the second I am using an HDMI to DVI cable. Both of these are connected to the Intel 4600 and seem to work fine. Now I just have to set them up as MFD displays in DCS World. Can anybody point me to the best step by step for this? Out -
I have received my seat and I have set it up and tested under Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. Seems to work fine hardware/drivers/software wise. I have not yet tested in DCS World but I will shortly. Thanks to Andrey for his help in getting me the seat and for the great software.... In depth review to follow..... Out

Thrustmaster MFD Cougar Pack - LCD Home Edition
PoleCat replied to Speedbird696's topic in Thrustmaster
Thanks SpeedBird! I have a question. The person that is going to cut the panels for me needed a .dfx file format. So I used a converter to convert both the pdf and svg files to .dxf. The only issue is that when he tries to take measurements from them he ends up with different figures depending on which converted .dxf he looks at. I have attached a pdf image of what I believe is the closer of the two. Can you tell me if these measurements are correct? Thanks again...... Out img033.pdf -

I have a friend who owns a welding and water jet cutting business. If this turns out to be relatively easy I will ask him if he can provide cutting services for others and at what cost. I am anticipating that speedbird will be posting the vector plans this weekend. Hopefully even sooner...? :music_whistling: Out -
I know that change has no constituents but regardless of this fact Windows 10 is shaping up to be a fine OS. Many of the shortcomings of the Windows 8.1 interface and the balance between mobile computing and workstation computing have been corrected. Windows 10 can be used equally well on a desktop or a mobile device and the shift in the GUI between touch/swipe and keyboard/mouse is much better. This integration seems spot on to me and the new OS an absolute pleasure so far. I am really looking forward to release. I will be embracing the change as well as helping my fellow 104th members get over any fears of doing the same. Out

Thrustmaster MFD Cougar Pack - LCD Home Edition
PoleCat replied to Speedbird696's topic in Thrustmaster
Unfortunately, when I tried to order the parts from the original links the result was that they would not ship to NH USA for some reason. I was able to nail down these same parts on ebay for a total of 137.50 USD. The panels were 47.49 each but the seller agreed to sell me both for 90. http://www.ebay.com/itm/201122618504?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT The HDMI controller boards were 23.75 ea. http://www.ebay.com/itm/181435601384?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I am anxiously awaiting the vector plan for the cutting of frames. I have access to a water jet cutting table and a friend that knows how to use it. Will these plans be something that we can use easily to cut on using a water jet cutter? Thanks for the great mod idea! Out -
I have installed my HOTAS Cougar, Cougar MFDs, Simped Rudders, TrackIR 5, Creative X-FI Titanium, Logitech G910, G700s and G13 along with all the supporting software and drivers under windows 10. All seem to be working fine at system level. I have installed Elite Dangerous and tested all controls as working fine under this game and the new OS. I will install DCS tonight and test the control options with the newly installed Cougar. I will post back to let you know how it works in game for me. Hopefully the above mentioned problems with the X52 software and translation to the control options in DCS are not indicative of problems with other controls or HOTAS systems. Out

Windows X, Free upgrade for the first year.
PoleCat replied to SkateZilla's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I popped in a couple of spare 120GB SSD's, configured a Raid 0 array and installed Windows X on my machine. (Had been testing it only under VM until now). I really like the new start menu and the much better balance struck between mobile and fixed workstation computing. The best of both worlds and very easy to switch between the two. I agree with SkateZilla's comments. I have found nothing that will not run so far. Clearly MS has addressed a lot of the shortcomings of Windows 8 both real and perceived with this new OS. Good stuff. Out -
Just wanted to post a quick thank you to Andre for helping me purchase a vibe cushion. He sent me a PM today informing me that it was on the way. Once payment was sent he posted the vibe cushion to me in less than 24 hours and provided me with tracking information. Once I receive it I will be sure to post a complete review of my experience with it. Andre has been very responsive, helpful and patient throughout the process and has exceeded my expectations. Seems awful nice of him to go so far out of his way for the benefit of others. Thanks again Andre. Out
