  2. I am trying to use the seat for the first time with DCS OpenAlpha. I can barely feel any of the effects. How do I adjust the strength of the effect in the A10-C for instance. The effects are cool but barely perceptible. I am not using sound mode I am using the native effects. Thanks for any help you can provide, ~PoleCat
  3. Great news! Can't wait for the new release of this excellent program. Thanks for your efforts. Out
  4. Great idea unless you want to be able to run the widest possible array of software and pay a decent price for a powerful machine. ;) Out
  5. Excellent. Windows 10 is a pretty nice OS indeed. I think you will be happy. Out
  6. Paranoia is a terrible thing to waste....... All new versions of Windows are met with the same temporary resistance by relatively few people. Most of whom eventually end up taking the plunge in the end as well. Windows 10 is actually a pretty good OS from my experience with it so far. It does everything I need it to do for work and gaming and it does so very reliably. I personally use a local account and not an MS account. I do not find the personal data integration aspects of this OS that I do not currently use any hindrance at all. That these features are there for me if and when I choose to use them I see as a positive. What's to complain? :joystick: Out
  7. Incorrect. The current generation of m.2 NVMe PCI-E X4 SSD's are much faster then the older form factor 2.5" SSD's and the previous AHCI m.2 SSD's to which I believe you are referring. Out
  8. Of course now it is time to consider m.2 PCI-E SSD's. As a nice side effect of this new technology hitting the market, the previous generation of SSD's like the Samsung EVO's are declining in price rapidly as the notable performance improvements of m.2 PCI-E come into sharper focus. This means that the larger capacity 2.5" SSD's should become much more affordable over the coming months. It's almost time to kiss the mechanical hard drive goodbye once and for all and I for one can't wait! Out

  12. Windows 10 x64 enterprise (Love it).
  13. RAID0 is no more scary then any other configuration if you have a backup system in place and the performance gains are well worth it. If you suffered a hardware failure and a loss of your data whether contained in a RAID0 array or a single drive and you do not have a backup either way you lose ALL of your data. If you have a backup then either way you can restore ALL of your data. I have been running all 3 of my personal computers which I upgrade regularly (including new core components annually) in RAID0 configurations for many years (15 or more). I have not suffered a failure of any array due to a bad drive or SSD yet. At any time I require it I can install new drives, create a new array, restore from backup. So for me to go from say a failed system R0 array to a brand new one all data restored takes less then one hour. It takes a little longer to restore to a single drive. I use Acronis True Image 2016 and an external 2TB drive on all systems for daily backups. Not having a backup is playing with fire. Having a RAID0 array is both fun and performance enhancing, like Viagra! Out
  14. Being in the business of Computer sales, service, and networking for many years has provided me the opportunity to upgrade my hardware on a reasonably frequent basis. While I cannot point to video editing as something I am using this machine for currently it is certainly not something I would rule out for the future. This machine will be used primarily in my business for remote network and domain administration, tech support, software and OS troubleshooting. This would include troubleshooting VMs with locally installed versions of Plan Swift, AutoCAD, Dragon Naturally Speaking, QuickBooks, SQL Server and similar resource hungry applications. Secondarily for my continuing education in the field and of course gaming as well. :joystick: I have always configured my systems using the intel RST and RAID0. These systems always perform perceptibly faster then any single drive configuration. In short you can tell the difference pretty easily in overall system performance. I would recommend this configuration only if you have a rock solid full system backup as I do. Out
  15. Just built a new rig around the following components: Asus Z170-A i7 6700K Corsair H50 Liquid CPU Cooler 2 x Samsung SM951 512GB M.2 NGFF PCIe Gen3 8Gb/s x4 SSD (RAID0) 2 x Samsung 850 EVO SSD's (RAID0) 1 x 2TB WD Black (WD2003FZEX) 2 x 8GB GSkill DDR4 3200 GeForce GTX-980 Creative Labs SB X-Fi Fatality Thermaltake Core V71 Extreme. It was a little rough getting the NVMe RAID0 configuration bootable but well worth the effort. Here are some benchmarks of the NVMe RAID0 volume. Still working on tweaking the system but I am very impressed with NVMe RAID0 so far. This is attained by inserting one of the SSD's in the on board m.2 slot and the other in a Lycom DT-120 M.2 PCIe to PCIe 3.0 x4 Adapter which is then inserted into PCIEX16_3 on the board. Interestingly Asus support failed to help me get the NVMe RAID0 volume configured as bootable and in frustration they informed me that this configuration was not supported. Not being one to give up I pressed on and eventually found through trial and error the correct settings to get the array bootable and install windows 10. If anyone else happens to be struggling through getting a similar configuration up and running I would be happy to post the screens of the UEFI settings and the process needed to get everything configured. Off to install DCS Beta....... Out
  16. Just to chime in. Yes Voice attack is better than VAC. I own both and only use Voice Attack now. I have not used Voice Attack with DCS yet but I have used it extensively with Elite Dangerous. Using Voice Attack with DCS should be awesome. Voice Attack always gets installed along with my HOTAS Cougar, TrackIR 5 and TeamSpeak software. Out
  17. I am looking for a circuit board for TM Cougar stick. I have one that was damaged by water and it needs replacing. Please PM me if you have one you would like to sell. I am in the Northeast US. I am willing to pay a fair price. Thanks. Out

  20. Yes but that is not how it started and many of the comments are mindless MS bashing. Well unless your machine really sucks and it is really dragging you down or you are using illegal versions of the OS then I would actually qualify much of this thread as paranoia. It is easy enough to remove any update you do not want and it has been well documented. This includes the update that offers you the FREE upgrade. I am not sure MS should send an apology for offering what amounts to $140.00 OS for free. Although, I am sure they are sorry for the inconvenience it is causing. BTW, how is free too much money as well? ;) Out
  21. This thread is crazy. HAVING CAPPED THE THREAD TTILE MADE IT EVEN MORE CRAZY! I have upgraded six of my machines from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 and they are all running just fine as are all installed apps and hardware peripherals. I find this OS to be a really nice improvement over Windows 7/8.1 in every respect. Opting out of a free OS upgrade? I don't think so. BTW, where have all the "Microsoft charges too much for an OS" people gone? If you are truly this paranoid you should really wait a few months to pull the trigger on WinX. I am willing to bet that with very little variation the same people posting warnings will clearly see there own paranoia some months later when we find that they are using the very OS they warned us about....... Happens every time! "Change has no constituents" Out
  22. Thanks gongo, I have a few Cougars so I will probably be looking to buy 10 springs. Please keep me posted on your results. Out
  23. This is more or less exactly what I am looking for. If we can find five other Cougar users to split the cost of say 10 springs it should not be too painful financially. I am in if it helps. And thanks for posting this. Rep inbound. :) Out
  24. Much ado about nothing.......... There are hundreds of posts just like these before every MS OS is released. Always warning of the dire consequences of the next Microsoft OS. They warned us of every version of Windows so far being this thing to be afraid of, particularly the EULA. Also this quote is included in the original article "The list of services covered by the agreement doesn't explicitly include Windows 10. However, it does include your Microsoft account" Since you can use Windows 10 without a Microsoft account I fail to see how it differs in this case from the EULA for Windows 7/8 specifically. So far I think Windows 10 is great and I have no intention of reverting to 8.1 so it really does not bother me that I only have a 30 day window to do so. While I agree it is probably not the best policy it is certainly no secret that this is the case. I also do not believe it to be nefarious in nature. Your post comes of to me like a lot of innuendo sprinkled with liberal amounts of paranoia. I think most people are going to love it. It is by all measure a nice improvement over Windows 7/8.1. Out
