  1. So the water will be improved, that's great news! :) Any plans on including vapor this time around? The A-10 doesnt generate as much vapor as lets say an F-16, but it certainly would add to the experience to finally get some nice vapor effects in DCS :)
  2. Gah, Im so tired of all these "secret" Falcon mods, what's the point of making mods if your not going to release them to the community?
  3. As EtherealN says, that is exactly what the A-10 does these days in Afghanistan and Iraq. Would be cool to have the gun kick up some dirt though :)
  4. Looks awesome, Im not a big Hog-fan, but I must say that Im really looking forward to this :) Will there be any improvements to the water?
  5. I was wondering if its possible to add new scenery elements to the game without replacing stock-models? Is it possible to, lets say add new buildings and such to airbases, or would one have to swap one of the stock models with the new building model? If it is possible I would love to hear how :)
  6. How do you go about adding new models to airbases? Do you have to replace existing models, or is there another way?
  7. Im guessing that if you have a low end pc then X-Plane probably looks better than FSX, but on a high end pc I would say that X-Plane looks very dated, at least compared to FSX. There are some things in X-Plane that look okay, like the water (still its far from what you get in FSX with REX, but it looks decent), but overall I would say the graphics are on par with FS2002. But if you like it thats great, Im just trying to figure out what it is that draws people to X-Plane ;)
  8. I have tried to get into X-Plane more than once, I bought XP 8 when it came out, and then later XP 9. But I still cant find out what it is that people like about this sim...
  9. Just got around to buying it and its alot of fun, wish they would tweak the "hardcore" mode a bit though, I still think you can take a bit too much of a beating.
  10. If you are just getting into programming I would suggest starting out with a nice and simple 2d game, as 3d would probably have you pulling out your hair in frustration :P
  11. I had to break out my credit card and get the Superbug myself, and while it probably is the best add-on ever made for FS, I cant help but feel that something is missing. I start the jet up, taxi out, take off and fly around for a couple of minutes, then come back to the airport and land... it just feels so pointless, and somehow, even though FSX has ai aircraft, ai boats, ai cars, birds and animals, I feel very alone in the FS world... FC2 on the other hand feels like a living breathing world, even though I would love for it to have some ai aircraft flying around, some ai boats, some birds and maybe even some animals. Lets hope we get a Bug for DCS some time in the future :)
  12. Looking good, finally we'll have a good looking Viper in the game :)
  13. Do the weapons work online? Can you for instance shoot down other players in multiplayer?
  14. If its ever possible in the future I sure hope it doesnt look like that :P
  15. Hmm, might have to install FSX then...
  16. Certainly, that is something Ive been wishing for since LOMAC was released, good to see Im not alone. Flanker 2 had great vapor effects, I would love to have something like that in FC2 :)
  17. It certainly isnt the right shape, so I would suspect that it isnt the right size either.
  18. Sweet, cant wait to toss that around :)
  19. Personally I just did a full format of my disks and I dont have any activations left for FC, so I guess I have no other choice than waiting for FC2 to come out :P
  20. As AlphaOneSix and Tharos said, the F-15 does have a tailhook, most combat aircraft do actually, even the ones not used for carrier operations, this is to catch the cables at the end of the runway in case of for instance a break failure. The cable systems can often be raised or lowered depending on whether the pilot wants it up or not, but as far as I know its standard procedure for the USAF Eagle drivers to land with the cables up. On topic, this model looks great, and Im really looking forward to flying it :)
  21. As golfsierra said, ED is a Russian company, and they are first and foremost a military contractor so what we get for DCS is based on the military contracts that ED get, for instance the upcoming A-10 module is based on the desktop sim that ED is developing for the ANG. If anyone hires ED to make a, lets say, Typhoon sim then we may get a Typhoon-module for DCS, but otherwise I dont think that will happen. This is the reason why I think ED should open up the floor to third party developers, but I dont see that happening anytime soon either.

If you read the blog you'll see that they are, sadly, not aiming for a high fidelity sim...
  23. Yes, its FSX, and no its not ideal, but we have to make do with what we've got... As of right now, there are no high fidelity simulators out there simulating modern aircraft like the Superbug so Im happy that we at least get a Superbug for FSX. I would love a flyable Superburg for DCS, but I dont see that happening anytime soon as ED dont seem to want other developers to make flyable aircraft for their games, and the A-10 module is at least six months to a year away, and then we'll have to wait a couple of years for whatever comes after that.
  24. Now if we could only get something like this in DCS... Im going to get the FSX version, but I allways feel like something is missing whenever I get a military aircraft for FSX.
  25. Wow, someone has actually made some great vapor effects for FSX :D
