  1. The nosepad is removable, just like on RiftS. Pull it out gently. It's reversible too. What kind of fps are you getting on Ultras when close to the ground in Kuban and Stalingrad?
  2. Release: 34fps Beta: 32fps System: 8700K, 16Gb, 1080ti, Win10 64bit version1809 VR set: HP Reverb SteamVR/WMR settings: Custom resolution 150% (1978x1978 pixels per eye), Smart smoothing off, render quality 2, 90fps mode DCS Settings: VR PD =1
  3. All the HMDs that I've used - Vive, CV1, S, Reverb - have been nigh on identical in presentation of 3d depth. If anything, better clarity leads to stronger sense of depth, height and so on.
  4. RiftS is about on par for non sim games compared to Reverb, for sims the difference between the S and the HP is similar to that between the CV1 and the S. Also CV1 controller tracking is much better - for example, holding a rifle in VR gets riftS into big tracking glitches, as does serving a ball in table tennis (same problems with Reverb's controllers). For driving sims Reverb is absolutely peerless, as its performance is plenty good enough to give 90fps, mura being invisible when looking at the road and racetrack scenery, and clarity being better than RiftS's by at least a factor of 2. Space sims - no idea. Flight sims - if you have 1080ti or above and do not consider the extra $200 as being a factor, there is zero reason to prefer the RiftS. Ok, maybe colours are a little (but only a little and I mean it) bit better in the S. This is my personal conclusion from owning both.
  5. Usually it's one of the eys, not both and there is not other image, only the screen "blinking" several times. I've also done the zip tie mod just in case.
  6. Yup, ConceptD is what I see as one potential threat to my wallet :) For now, I'm sticking to my occasionally flickering (few seconds per several hours of use) Reverb, I'm not even going to send it back as replacement could be 6 weeks away. I'll trigger warranty claim once the supply is plentiful and issues were sorted in some update - unless it is software of course. RiftS also had issues like black screen, but sorted them with firmware.
  7. I've never experienced OLED VR in all its glory (a misfortune and a blessing in one:D)- CV1's colours are suffocated by the infamous "Spud" setting, RiftS is LCD and Reverb is pretty close to the S. With regards to SS\PD, RiftS had significantly worse definition and obviously much (4-6times) fatter pixels even when set to the levels of SS that had worse performance than the Reverb's default 150% setting. Flying Il2 without labels and VR zoom is a comfortable experience in the Reverb, not so in the S.
  8. As long as other things are good enough/functional - tracking, software, sound - clarity become priority number one. For me of course:) Head tracking is perfectly ok in WMR, headphones work, comfort is decent, software is quirky, but mostly does the job (in my case starting DCS is a 3 stage process: Steam >SteamVR (which automatically starts WMR) > click play in VR on Skatezilla's DCS app. No issues with the mouse or any other, unless eg Voiceattack takes focus away from the DCS window. I was happy with RiftS too, but A-to-B comparisons with the Reverb have highlighted just how much more information does reverb provide. The headset that I am curious about is Acer's ConceptD - same res as the Reverb, but potentially better in other areas perhaps. However,I absolutely can not imagine going back to lower res, reverb is full RGB stripe already, so lower res will be just that no ifs and buts:(
  9. Unfortunately its resolution is lower than Reverb's. Even the magical XTAL can't change the resolution rule for VR.
  10. I have also compared the two side by side. Reverb is the surefire winner if your hardware is up to scratch (1080ti +). The biggest difference being the size of the pixels, RiftS pixels are perceived to be 4-6 times bigger than reverb's. Long distance objects are much more defined in the Reverb, distant plane contours and aspects are easily readable at distances where bigger pixels of the S still show poorly defined black smudges. I did not perceive any difference in 3D-ness between CV1, S and reverb. The only downside to Reverb is the overly bright picture, lowering gamma solves the issue, but not 100%. Overall, having tasted what Reverb has to offer, going back to the RiftS is hard.
  11. Вероятность наступления события НЕСБИТИЕ в n опытах равна P0^n, очепятка :)
  12. Just pull it gently and feel the soft rubber tabs popping out, there is no tricky process involved. Pop the tabs back in to attach it back in place. And it's an awesome feature, well done Oculus!
  13. After speaking to/reading posts of some Rift S owners in yesterday, I've learnt that not all of them realise that the nose gap of the old CV1 is also a feature in the Rift S. Just pull out the rubber nose pad and enjoy being able to use keyboard and mouse without messing around with video pass-through and removing your HMD. Insert the rubber piece back when you feel like totally isolating yourself in VR in other games - its tabs will lock in place, so the process is completely reversible. Kudos to Oculus for this feature - it's nice to have this attention to detail and customer wants. Enjoy and S!:pilotfly:
  14. After following the guide below my GPU load is even higher now, peaking at 98% on the same replay of a flight through Vegas: Basically, disable Vsync (select "off") not just ingame, but also in the Nvidia Control panel, click 'reset" on MSI Afterburner app and enjoy higher GPU load and thus better fps: Credit goes to Sweviver:
  15. Nose gap IS there (thank you, Oculus!)! The rubber nose piece is detachable by design - check it out ;)
  16. Excuse me everybody I was being a massive plonker. At some point I've accidentally ticked Vsync and for some reason it decided to work in VR. Vsync unchecked and I have 0ver 45 fps and GPU load spiking towards 90%. I'm happy again :)
  17. But then I read these other posts and people were getting 100% GPU loads, plus this vid - 100% GPU is the norm with decent CPUs https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3323054&postcount=13 https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=202239
  18. I am suffering low GPU load that I feel leads to low fps. Isn't GPU supposed to run at near 100% in DCS? Mine runs at 50-60% with occasional spikes into 70s, and fps is markedly lower than I remmeber it being a while back using the same ingame settings that I've not changed in years. Any thoughts? My system is 8700K, 1080ti, 16Gb, Oculus CV1. The GPU has no problem running at 100% in benches etc.
  19. Супер. Даже не верится что так скоро появится. Спасибо, ED, вы - лучшие!
  20. Are the radio frequencies preloaded into the radios' presets? I've read that it is possible to do so for the mission makers, is it the case with this campaign? (not a fan of fumbling with radios in general and VR radios can be downright pain. Also it's a shame that simplified radio comms are not an option - but I am more of an FC3 pilot nowadays :))
  21. Move towards the 4th waypoint at 1200 meters altitude.
  22. Oh well, I thought as much, no probs! I'll resort to db_countries.lua editing as I really want to play it again in a German MiG-29G for some weird reason:) And I'd still have the same wish (huge coalitions on the player's side) for your future campaigns though - if it's not too much trouble of course. Thanks again for your work, I'll have to try flying the A-10C in VR now. I've given up on ground attackers in VR due to poor visibility, but your campaign motivates me to give it another shot. Cheers! EDIT - BUG: Mission 13 also suffers from broken audio right from the start. Like in Mission 10, some voiceovers do later on in the mission, not all though.
  23. This works now (a month ago DCS crashed when I tried doing that), many thanks! However, USA does not have the MiG-29G, which leads to a small request: Could you add most/all of the countries to the Blue Coalition? So, Germany (Mig-29G), China(J-11), France (M-2000), Ukraine(Su-27) to give us access to the planes above. Other countries like Spain, Israel, the UK, Denmark, Finland, Australia and so on would also be good as we could choose their national skins then. PS I've tried the helicopter hunt mission (mission10) again and the voiceovers are still broken, it was not a momentary glitch. The first part of the briefing works fine, and then, from the player's confirmation onward, voiceovers go mute.
  24. I have a bug to report - most of the voiceover sound is missing in the mission where you are tasked to attack Hinds and Hokums. The initial greeting is there, then all the voiceovers are muted until you meet the Flankers and then the voiceovers come back again. Good job I run subtitles:) Brilliant, brilliant campaign, its not just the quality and quantity of the (superb!) voiceovers, but the quality of the set pieces too - you have rules of engagement and are not allowed to shoot everything on sight. Enemies can be forced to flee, sometimes they disengage by themselves and you must let them escape and avoid escalation. I would say that this campaign is THE best time I've had in single player DCS, many thanks to all concerned  PS Now if only I could replay the whole thing or at least some of its missions in another plane - MiG-29G, F-14, F/A-18, (soon)F-16... Please make the option possible, guys, or at least lobby ED for making it possible.
