  1. Hornet guide is out! Just like always, please send me any mistakes or corrections that need to be made. F/A-18C Hornet https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Q2vH0WLm5mdu2U3GX8AkB1z6iIP-I_sF Last updated: 09/06/2018
  2. That's not the point of those guides. They're meant to be illustrated checklists more than anything, with some explanations in-between. Stuff that you can reference quickly instead of having to go through a 30-minute long youtube video. I don't want or need to replace a NATOPS or a dev manual. The method I explained earlier is how I get to a point where I have a good enough understanding of what I need to know to fly the aircraft and what is superfluous. There's no point in writing about something you don't fully understand.
  3. You assume correctly. It's not like I've let that stop me before ;) The approach is always the same 1) Find good reference material 2) Study said material by breaking down the aircraft system by system 3) Put what I've learned in practice 4) Drink a river of coffee and get to work while listening to Motley Crue
  4. Harrier Manual updated to include AGM-65E Maverick (LMAV) procedure
  5. Patience is a virtue ;)
  6. Hi, On the Right Warning/Caution Advisory Lights panel, the "CW" light (for Continuous Wave radar) reads "SW". I assume it's just a typo since the early access manual states that it's CW and not SW.
  7. Mirage guide INS procedure updated today.
  8. I honestly haven't had time to check if the RCS and ACNIP panels are working, but you can now modify frequencies manually on the COM1 and COM2 radios with the UFC (open beta branch) http://www.mudspike.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/DCS-AV-8B-Harrier-Guide.pdf pages 137 and 138
  9. Nick Q&As are quite interesting. I want more of them.
  10. Quoting myself:
  11. What makes you so sure? https://theaviationist.com/2014/02/19/us-navy-fighters-folded-wings/
  12. Key word is "convenient", not "realistic". I live perfectly fine without a simmerism like that. I can hardly imagine IRL ground crews were setting up custom convergence for every single airframe they work on. Especially since specific airframes didn't belong to the pilots themselves; any pilot could be flying any airframe within the same squadron. They were already busy enough as it is. Some famous pilots may have requested specific convergences but I don't think that was the norm at all. I've yet to find sources that claim that custom convergences were the norm for RAF squadrons.
  13. Don't worry, Wags was kind enough to reach out to me and give me access to the press copy.
  14. They're pointing at nothing. The arrows were there in the original picture so I just removed text associated to it since I didn't map anything to those buttons.
  15. The community is the future of this sim. Just help a new guy out, that'll be rewarding enough for me. ;)
  16. I won't have proper access to the module before its release by Eagle Dynamics. So... it might be a couple of weeks, if not months after that.
  17. Updated Harrier guide with: -Added Moving Map section -Revised weapon procedures (mainly A/G HUD mode selection order) -Updated radio section (can now enter manual frequencies) -Updated navigation procedures
  18. I got a question... when is a Lancaster com... Just kidding. Let me try that again. Q: How reliable are engine starts for old warbirds still flying after more than 70 years? We often see a number of attempted starts at airshows and it seems that getting a reliable start can be sometimes problematic for old machinery. Could Mr. Grey share some of his experiences regarding the reliability and maintenance side of these birds? These aspects can sometimes be neglected in the world of simulators... so I'd be quite interested to see what he has to say about that.
  19. How could I miss this? This is some incredible work by BTD once again. I felt a little something in my throat once the DCS theme kicked in.
  20. You're welcome.
  21. Hey there! Welcome aboard. For most DCS aircraft (except Flaming Cliffs 3 modules like the A-10A, F-15C, MiG-29, Su-27, Su-33) you can look here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=135765 It's basically a step-by-step walkthrough that you can have either printed out, or on a tablet or on your phone, This should help you figuring out what to know and in what order. We all went through that "oh my god what do all these switches do?" phase at some point. Don't let that intimidate you. It's perfectly normal; it's a steep learning curve. The key here is to NOT be afraid to ask questions around here in the forums. Even if you think it's a dumb question, ask it! My advice for you is to concentrate on setting up your controls first, then how to start the aircraft, than how to takeoff and land... and only once you've got that stuff figured out THEN you can start learning about weapons, countermeasures, radar and all that fun stuff.
  22. 300000 views in this topic... wow!
  23. Just gave the F-86 and the MiG-15 guides a coat of fresh paint.
  24. Hey all, Sorry about that stupid typo for the Boost. It's MINUS 2, not +2. I made the small correction in the guide. Sorry about that.
  25. Gotcha. Will update the guide when I get a chance.
