ED - let the community create/update 3D models
Tailhook replied to nickos86's topic in DCS Core Wish List
90% of all non-native models you have seen floating around the community have all been ported from somewhere and are not their property. #ShowUsTheWireframes -
ED - let the community create/update 3D models
Tailhook replied to nickos86's topic in DCS Core Wish List
As long as the provider can also provide evidence they created the model themselves from the ground up and didn't port it from another game or simulator, or from an online model store catalog. The provider also must provide original sound files for the aircraft type and not use extracts from YouTube. If it's not 100% created by the person (or entity) providing the materials, ED would become liable if it's under copyright. -
As long as it is placed in saved games, it should.
-
If you guys don't want to wait for ED to change it, just run a cockpit mod. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3306823/

A little shaded but looks fine to me.

This took me 30 minutes to figure out. The F-5E-3 uses the same ejection seat, and other parts, in both cockpit and external model. The simple fix is ED needs to move the following files from 'F-5E-CPT-TEXTURES' in Mods and put them in 'f-5e3_tiger_II_textures' in CoreMods. There's no reason for them to be separate anyways since both internal and external share textures (WHY?), especially if the module is disabled. F5E-CPT-FLOOR-01 F5E-CPT-FLOOR-01_RoughMet F5E-CPT-INSTR-02 F5E-CPT-MAIN-01 F5E-CPT-MAIN-01_RoughMet F5E-CPT-PARTS-01 F5E-CPT-PARTS-01_RoughMet F5E-CPT-PARTS-02 F5E-CPT-PARTS-02_RoughMet F5E-CPT-SEAT-01 F5E-CPT-SEAT-01_RoughMet F5E-CPT-TOP-01 F5E-CPT-TOP-01_RoughMet Now to fix the missing textures on the top of the front panel. That part of the model is still set to use bitmap which is no longer used in DCS. Simple fix is extract the following 2 DDS textures from 'f-5e3_tiger_II_textures' in CoreMods, rename them and then add them to the zip, do not remove the originals. Change: 'f-5e3_cockpit_normal' to 'f-5e3_cockpit_normal.bmp' 'f-5e3_cockpit_spec' to 'f-5e3_cockpit_spec.bmp' Boom. Model fixed, ya welcome.

Keep the in-game SRS window open to know what frequency you are talking on. You can switch modes with Lshift+Lcntrl+Esc.
-
The F-5 only has one radio but SRS gives you two extra virtual radios. You can adjust the virtual radios via the toggle radio overlay and listen/talk to all 3 with hotkeys. With the thumb switch on warthog throttle I set forward to Comm1, back Comm2, down Comm3, and up toggles my radio overlay on/off. Make sure under SRS settings you have Radio Switch works as PTT turned on. The overlay menu is rather simple. You can either manually enter the frequency by punching the up/down buttons or by setting up the text file like the FC3 aircraft use and select frequency from the Ch. tab.

With F-5 module disabled, the F-5E-3 external model texture for the ejection seat and gun-sight frame isn't loading. Also the top of the forward instrument panel isn't loading the normal or spec map, only the diffuse is showing. 2.5.6.47224

Does anyone else have uninstalling issues? This is my first time updating plugin in YEARS. Of all the versions I have downloaded prior to 16xxxx uninstall fine. Everything after 16xxxx give an error. Re-running the plugin installer asks to uninstall on launch but just re-installs again after hitting both Ok and Cancel. I have to manually cherry-pick each file shown during install in order to uninstall. I'm still running 3D Max 2014, and currently Windows 10 v1909.

Try a clean reinstall (or update) of your video card driver.
-
Delete the edModelViewer2 folder in saved games.
-
We need an option to set regarding keeping track replays by age. Whether a slider, text field, or checkbox. Ability to choose from 1-365 Days OR 'Do nothing'.

How does your father feel about going overkill? Maybe he wants the best parts available. :D With DCS a 2080TI is far from overkill and in 2 years spec-wise will be outdated. And since ED has yet to do anything about multi-core support you want a CPU with the highest single-core performance and highest core Ghz, so Intel. But AMD's latest are great too (and cheaper) so probably wouldn't see much difference anyways.

Just curious, are you running Malwarebytes?
-
You mean 60? Why would you go Freesync with such low hertz? I feel like you might be running more than just one monitor, am I right? I would make sure your freesync monitor itself is operating at it's max refresh. Hopefully you're on Windows 10, right-click on desktop, Display settings, scroll to bottom and click Advanced Display Settings. If it says less than 60 next to refresh rate then click display adapter properties and Monitor and change it.

Same issue, they broke something. Deleted saved games folder before loading modelviewer
-
No. Just use the sliders in modelviewer.

Use Point, not Dummy, for connectors. You also didn't include the spaces under properties like you just did in your post. TYPE = "connector"; Same here. TYPE = "bounding_box";

Test: Setting CPU Affinity

Looks like setting affinity_mask in autoexec no longer works with 2.5.6... -

I whitelisted the entire Eagle Dynamics folder under Allow list. Make sure the DCS.exe is restored too. -

+1, same with Malwarebytes. -
Twitch2DCS - Simple twitch chat UI inside DCS

SteamVR has it's own mirror (OpenVR built-in) and it's better than Oculus mirror, you don't need a plugin. Just open the mirror (Display VR View) already provided in SteamVR and add it as source. You _might_ need Windows Mixed Reality plugin for SteamVR to capture DCS though. I don't use OBS but I've tried it in Xsplit. I also suggest uninstalling Oculus to avoid other problems if you haven't already.
