A10C and Ka-50 don´t activate since change of hardware.
MadDog-IC replied to Scumbag's topic in Payment and Activation
The answer to your problem is at the bottom section of this link, you need to delete the current registry keys for the A-10 and Ka-50 (Download the correct files to do it for you), you should have deactivated those modules before upgrading, you will now lose one activation on each module. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/faq/564/ Regards, Ian. -
Nevada terrain crashing game Help!! newbie needing some help.
MadDog-IC replied to Grits26's topic in Bugs and Problems
Plenty of space all round. Those files in the torrent folder should be in the "_downloads" folder (This is where the updater puts its torrent files normally), which is off the main E: drives DCS install directory. But it may be best if you just forget about the torrent folder you already have and just run a "DCS_Updater.exe Repair" command to find the missing pieces and re-download the complete "Nevada" map again, or remove the Nevada module with the module manager and then re-enable again. Happy to help, should be an easy fix, just no sure how smart the autoupdater is, its pretty clever, but it my be slightly confused due to the way you moved things to the new drive. ;-) Regards, Ian. -
Nevada terrain crashing game Help!! newbie needing some help.
MadDog-IC replied to Grits26's topic in Bugs and Problems
Might be one for BIGNEWY, But I will try: It is obvious by your log that the nevada terrain is not totally installed at (E:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\Terrain\Nevada), (Full install should be roughly (33.8 GB (36,378,853,507 bytes) = 1,316 Files, 95 Folders) as is reporting missing components. Post your "autoupdate_log.txt" from the DCS root folder (E:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World) so we can see what the updater is doing, and where it might be pointing to put the downloaded files. May sure there is enough free space available on your C: drive as DCS does make some temp files on there every time you run a mission (A few hundred megabytes or more). Look for a "_downloads" folder in your DCS root folder (E:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\_downloads), this is where the updater should install all update files temporarily until it completes the update successfully. You may have to delete this "_downloads" and / or the "Nevada folder from "E:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\Terrain" and then run the DCS repair tool to re-download the whole nevada map again, but this is why I want to see the "Autoupdate_log.txt" first so I can see where it is likely to put the downloads. Weight of a single soldier is ether 80kg or 100kg from memory, and their weight is added to the gross weight of the chopper once embarked. Regards, Ian.

To remove all MOD required delete all of the BOLD text: ["requiredModules"] = { ["WWII RDF Radar Station by BFVG (British Fighting Vehicles Group)"] = "WWII RDF Radar Station by BFVG (British Fighting Vehicles Group)", ["Medicina Radio Observatory"] = "Medicina Radio Observatory", ["antenna_array"] = "antenna_array", ["radome_tower"] = "radome_tower", ["telescope"] = "telescope", ["UHF Radio Telescope Array"] = "UHF Radio Telescope Array", ["Jodrell Bank Observatory"] = "Jodrell Bank Observatory", ["super_antenna"] = "super_antenna", }, -- end of ["requiredModules"] It should look like this: ["requiredModules"] = { }, -- end of ["requiredModules"] Otherwise just delete the lines of the mods that you don't have. Regards, Ian.

Heaps of Lua code errors in log relating to the Mission Editors core working files. Remove ALL unofficial MODS, such as "Ranger pack" and "VPC" as a first step, these have caused issues in the past. Backup and rename your "Saved Games" folder and test with a fresh default version to remove any other MODS or code that might be interfering with the new DCS versions. Run "DCSupdater.exe Cleanup" to help identify and / or remove MODS. Run "DCSupdater.exe repair". Regards, Ian.

SCENERY REMOVE OBJECTS ZONE does not remove trees
MadDog-IC replied to Leviathan667's topic in Mission Editor Bugs
There is a random bug in the mission editor, which causes your issues, I have had same problem fixing missions, can't nail it down to a specific method of creating it though. The trigger methods being discussed should work and have worked, but I have found that using: "Mission Start Event", No Trigger = Less likely to work. "Once Only Event", No Trigger = Less likely to work. "Once Only Event" with Trigger -> "Time more than 5" = Greater chance of working, but not always. Seems that the more you edit a mission and re-save it, the more likely that "Scenery remove feature for trees" will not actually work. If you get the problem when missions editing and testing, you have to close DCS down completely and reload and then it has a greater chance of working correctly, that is until you re-run the mission more than one, or edit the mission and run again. I have no work around for fixing it either. Regards, Ian. -
[UNABLE TO REPRODUCE]DCS Updater crashes my modem
MadDog-IC replied to Highwayman-Ed's topic in Installation Problems
Sounds like a hard one to figure out, how are you determining if the modem is crashing, does it reset itself, go offline and recycle into a self test and re-connection cycle or some other symptoms. What type of internet connection do you have ADSL / NBN, I have NBN Fibre setup with IPV4 and IPV6 dual stack provided by Internode. Just two days ago, the DCS updater decided not to work, it would download a small piece of the version checking data and then just hang and download at a very small rate, something that takes seconds normally now takes 5-30 minutes as an estimate. Solution: Long story short, Deleted all directories and files under the default "Windows temp" directory where the DCS install creates stuff for the updates, re-run the updater and it worked, but downloads very slowly, 2-500kb/sec when normally between 2-5mb/sec. Regards, Ian. -
Would like to see: The preservation of all preset radio settings set in the ME for player / client aircraft if those planes are changed to AI temporarily (For testing the mission) and when the flights are set back to "Player / Client" mode (Have all the radio frequencies restored back to their custom frequencies set by the mission designer originally instead of the ME default set). The preservation of all preset "Target point" and "INS" coordinates for the KA-50 set in the ME for "Player / Client" aircraft if those planes are changed to AI temporarily (For testing the mission) and when the flights are set back to "Player / Client" mode (Have all the "Target Points and INS Points" restored back to their custom coordinates set by the mission designer originally instead of having them all deleted). In "Battle commander" mode, have it so all variants of "Sounds to XXXX", "Radio Transmission to XXXX" and "Message to XXXX" are all played though to the commander as well, no matter which Coalition or flight they may be transmitted to. Regards, Ian.

Sounds like the problem I have had with my x52pro for years, it is at least twice as sensitive on the X and Y axis when first used to fly the aircraft, I have to do a quick calibration when ever I fly an aircraft by running the X and Y axis full ranges, it then works correctly until I die and get into another aircraft, then I have to do the quick calibration again. I have tried multiple versions of the drivers over the years, registery tweaks and calibrations, but nothing has ever fixed the problem. As you say it is highly annoying and I don't know how many times I have collided the rotor blades in the Ka-50 and mast bumped the rotors in the Huey, along with the frustrations of trying to Air to Air refuel other aircraft. I now have a Thrustmaster Warthog, but haven't even set it up to use it in DCS as yet. I would still prefer to use the X52pro if it worked 100% correctly as it fits the hands better and I have better muscle memory with it because of the years using it with my own custom DCS profiles. Good luck with it, if you figure it out let us know the fix. Regards, Ian.

As of 2.5.4, Mission "Rebel Base" has tree drawing bugs
MadDog-IC replied to niinja's topic in Missions and Campaigns
Just to let you know, this is how it is meant to be now, as the area was completely covered with trees making the mission undoable, A tree clear trigger command has been used to remove trees in the area and the units moved around to better reflect the new terrain lay out. Admittedly it looks horrible, but quickest and easiest way to fix mission instead of totally moving things else where. I don't understand how this changes its playability, it was unplayable with all the trees there. Regards, Ian. -
Mission Editor's file browser doesn't see mission
MadDog-IC replied to Grifter's topic in Mission Editor
Your welcome, shame you can't recover it. Would seem that the Mission Editor is a tad more unreliable in resent months as I have been seeing more users creating very corrupted missions, in lots of different ways, even if missions load, lots of dictionary errors and other lua errors. I myself have been bitten a few times with corruptions hence why I backup, backup and backup. Cheers. -
Mission Editor's file browser doesn't see mission
MadDog-IC replied to Grifter's topic in Mission Editor
If the editor locks up on saving a mission, it is almost guaranteed to corrupt the missions file, check your DCS.log and you will see lua faults most likely. Once mission is corrupt, there is little to no chance of reserrecting it as the damage will be extensive, this is why I make a new revision of the same mission, one for each big change I do, usually have 2 or 3 revisions at any one time, so if something goes wrong I can fall back on the back up copies and redo just the last changes before save failure. Once mission is done and working it is backed up to Dropbox for yet another form of backup. If you have no backup of the faulty mission, the only last resort to get the mission back, and this has to be done before you run any more missions with DCS, and that is to grab the tempMission.miz file (This is the last run mission that DCS creates each time it runs a mission successfully) from the DCS temp folder and copy / rename it to a backup filename of your original mission and use that from this point on. IE: DCS.log Extract 2019-09-05 12:01:38.529 INFO Dispatcher: loadMission D:\[Temp Storage]\DCS.openbeta\tempMission.miz 2019-09-05 12:01:38.529 INFO WORLDGENERAL: loading mission from: "D:\[Temp Storage]\DCS.openbeta\tempMission.miz" Good luck with it. Regards, Ian. -
Also, generally your campaign progress will never get reset as such, but between DCS version upgrades, their directory structure of where the mission files reside can and have changed on occation. Therefore to get the campaign progress back to where you left it, you would have to edit the appropriate directory pointers for the mission you were up to in the "logbook.lua" file to point at the new directory naming. ie: extract from logbook.lua, Stage section is mission you are currently up to. Regards, Ian.

TrackIR 5 - Profiles not showing up.
MadDog-IC replied to FONS's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
FYI, Renaming a profile in a directory will not change its name in the TrackIR Profiler selector as it uses the saved name within the profile file itself (xxxxxxxxx.xml), obviously these names will be matched when the profile is first created. If you wish to rename any profile, you will either have to re-save a current profile from the TrackIR Profiler to a new file name or change the header in the profile file (xxxxxxxx.xml) itself. Spudknocker renamed Profile, ie: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-16"?> <Profile> <Name>DCS World (Spudknocker)</Name> <Description>DCS World Spudknocker profile</Description> <ExclusiveLoad>0</ExclusiveLoad> <TrueViewEnabled>1</TrueViewEnabled> So the "HUD" profile is most likely the spudknocker profile, just open the xxxxxxxx.xml with a text viewer and view the "<Name> xxxxxxxx </Name>" and it should be "HUD", if you don't like that name change it to what you wish to show as in TrackIR Profiler. Landing to Refuel and Rearm - The LandingReFuAr waypoint
MadDog-IC replied to JDingo's topic in Mission Editor
Wow, a very thorough analysis, this will be most welcomed by all mission designers / tinkerers, me included on how to get that feature to do what is should. Thanks for taking the time to post it. Cheers, Ian. -
The logic your using is sound, and should work. Best technique for campaigns are Trigger a mission score of 50 when time is greater that say 5 seconds, this way if you fail to do anything is mission you will have to refly it. Next do your trigger for mission score for the way point (10) Next do your trigger mission score for the Landing (40). Next (Optional), possibly do a trigger for mission failure (-50) or (-100) if you want to have to redo the current mission or be punished and go back to the previous mission (the later not recommended in general) if you die or for some other mission failure you might desire. The net result is if you score only 50 by doing nothing you refly the current mission, If you pass the correct waypoint you get a mission success but only with 60 points or if you do the waypoint and land you get 100 points and mission success and would then move onto the next mission in the set. If you had a mission failure score of (0-49) you would fail and go back to a previous mission or if the first mission in the set, you would have to refly it. Anything from 51-100 would give you mission success. A score of 50 exactly would make you refly the mission If you want post the campaign here so I can have a look at it for you, as there are other things in the campaign manager section that can determine the mission progressing, such as bracketed mission scores, 0-100, 51-100. Regards, Ian.

Found corruptions in mission: Reselect the FARP as the browser picture in the ME was showing as a Mortar (Error was logged in DCS.log about FARP EDM being wrong version) The Triggers "Sound to all" had a zero length sound file, so was also corrupted, reloaded the correct xmit.ogg file) Resaved Mission and all went well, didn't prior to fixing issues. Fired up mission = run ok, I didn't play though. Corrected missions for ya. https://www.dropbox.com/s/tjt34y3cs7vlnrh/a10c-target_practice%20-%20fixed.miz?dl=0 Regards, Ian.

Some issues below, mostly based on SP missions: KA-50 Target point entries and other aircrafts custom radio frequencies entries are deleted if the players aircraft is changed to an AI flight (for testing) then reverted back to a human player setting, wish these entries would be kept though this transition even though the AI doesn't use them. Unit radio transmissions in MP improvement, as often only the host has access. Placing FARP in a wooded area no longer removes trees from the placement location - This has been very random for me, seems the more times you test a mission in succession the more likely it will fail, only fix usually is to close DCS and restart back into the Mission editor. Scenery Remove objects zone will remove buildings but not always trees - Same as the FARP issue, randomly works then not. Often when selecting a unit that you may wish to amend, only the last vehicle placed will be highlighted during selection. Resulting in having to reselect the unit in the group you wanted to change Copy and pasting or moving multiple single units at a time and then positioning them accurately is difficult and fiddly - Need to be able to mark units by drawing box around them and dragging them into position whilst being able to still see the units. Trees in Caucusas map dynamically grow and shrink when zooming in and out of Map, and not until you zoom in to the maximum do some trees appear, making ground unit placement difficult to avoid being put in a treed area. Regards, Ian.

can't authenticate aircraft, can't access website.
MadDog-IC replied to exnihilodub's topic in Payment and Activation
Us Australians have just recovered from a similar issue, it took 2-3 weeks to resolve, no explanation from our ISP (Internode / IINET) as to the cause of the issue, I did all of the same process as you mentioned, and it seemed to be an issue with websites linked off the xxxx.fr.eu branch of servers, so it wasn't just the www.digitalcombatsimulator.com site. Try using the "pathping" command for a more informative look at packet loss at the router and link stages. ie: C:\Windows\system32>pathping -4 www.digitalcombatsimulator.com This is unlikely to help you much as a lot of the server / routers don't respond to ping requests, so it will give 100% packet loss even when they are fully functioning correctly. Good luck with it, was a nightmare for us here as well. Regards, Ian. -
Got up this morning and yep its gone again.:surrender:

Got up this morning and it is broken again. Sheesh.

I am happy to say that Internode ISP is now in operation again, I can do DCS updates, authenticate and browse the website. Interesting thing is that the routing went back to the same paths and still gives similar missing packets but now functions ok and also have no acknolegement from the provider that they fixed anything. Hope it has resolved for all of you others with IINet / Internode. Regards, Ian.
