just aileron will give you a roll...if you want the corkscrew effect, you need back and side pressure on the stick....the back pressure is what controls how much of a barrel roll you do...less will be more of a clean roll....more will be a big radius barrel roll....in the old prop planes a little rudder can help exaggerate this effect, but can create a wing stall, so be careful...

the alt hold is dependent on the radar and barometric altimeters (possibly even the INU).....the heading hold is dependent on the compasses most likely (possibly even the INU...but the compass sounds like the easier way to tell heading)....the only way the aircraft computers can know your pitch and bank degrees is the INU......its a set of gyros and a computer that calculates the movement of the airframe..... I could be wrong...but I believe the previous poster is correct in saying that BOTH pitch and bank are INU dependent....

i stand corrected.....maybe it was something else (obviusly it was)....i thought for sure it was the FD.... but then again you can see what you think is the starter button on the huey...but its not...its something else i tried finding the post that lead me to believe the FD was an addon...but not luck....pretty sure it was a conversation from the BS1 v1.01 days.....you are most likely right...it is a real feature

flight director mode is not a real function on the real KA-50...iirc.....it is something ED added to make it easier for ppl.....like the starter button on the huey....I have all four channels mapped to my controls with the use of modifier keys so I can turn off and on my alt and heading channels when needed......I dont do any loops and barrel rolls so i've never been in a situation where I needed the pitch and roll disengaged....I believe the auto stabilizing systems works great and i never turn it off to maneuver...but then again I got my trimmer and collective brake mapped so i can press, hold and release them like the real airframe was designed for..... ....but then again I use the BS as a standoff weapon...not a dogfighter....all the vids I've seen (which is not alot) of apaches shooting hellfires....they arent doing passes on a target...the are at max range, partially concealed, in a stable hover raining death from far away...this is how i use my attack helo, as a mobile missile platform, even though most of you are about to tell me how wrong I am...

its not a moot point....but of all the modules...BS2 is the most complete and the most worked on in the past, mainly because its been around the longest.....BS will see more love one day...but I would rather them complete the F-18c and naval ops then fix the nose wheel light right now (if it were a bug)....many things to do and with blackshark being one of, if not, the most refined modules...its at the bottom of the list for right now... Just an opinion.... ...and i think the previous poster are correct...just because its missing the lower half and wheel, doesn't necessarily mean the gear doesn't go up and down...which is in fact what the light indicates...up and down...not good or bad... ..
-
.....the Blackshark doesn't have a RWR......when the LWR goes off...someone is rangefinding you....the other light shows when they have launched and are guiding a missile towards you....... .....IR missiles have no warning....thats why your AI wingman just starts dropping flares...one at a time...over and over and over....the whole time you ingress... ....you have no warning when someone gets you on radar.....but your in a helicopter....fly lower then 150 feet and SA-2s and Aim-120s will never lock on to you....radar guided stuff should not be your problem

This is an idea for CA and naval ops..... you need a supreme commander position....like a general for the ground and an admiral for the sea....that can set overall objectives that the AI will advance to and attack or protect without the need for setting way points for every unit.....with the ability to even assign individual groups to objectives..... ....Then......the ability for the sever owners to lock this position with a password so that CA or naval ops clients cant change the overall war or battle front, but can just join and take control of a group or individual unit or position...... ......as the battle progresses the red and blue "overlords" can log on and set new objectives and waypoints for all groups to advance towards.....like playing chess..... ...."You sank my battleship".....
-
Naval control on par with Combined Arms so you can do amphibious landings with battleship big guns firing on the beaches along with landing craft.....offshore you need good formations and tactics for the whole battle group....and a AI system that can take over in mass combat when you want to play a specific roll (like an aircraft or CA, or a naval position)..... With multi positions on one ship...you need to be able to be the captain of the ship and set ROE and waypoints....all guns on...all guns off..... like right now in CA...if you take control of a tank....you have to do everything...if you want it to fire a gun, you must do it.....you need to be able to take control of the commander and have the gunner and driver do their jobs....or vice versa..... this on a naval scale would be great Once naval OPs come...we will need some Hellcats and Zeros.....I would love to see a Midway (wildcats...i know) style scenario........or an island invasion with CA taking over once you hit the beach..... Modern marine beach landings with a damn Cobra to fly......LCACs carrying mbt and troops....tomahawks missiles......16 inch guns..... ....i just cant stop naming stuff....

I'd rather they animate a group of soldiers throwing 55gal drums of "Agent Orange" out the side of the chopper then dumb bombs http://www.comanchero.org/UH1AgentOrange.htm ...

and mini guns on the doors....dont forget the mini guns!!!!

starting at your last question and working back.. ....Yes A/A HO means Air to Air Head On....this is different then just Air to Air because when an enemy aircraft is flying at you head on this option tells the missile to exploded before it hits the target so the shrapnel will hit the aircraft....instead of exploding on impact....in a head on situation this is better because the missile and the aircraft close at such a high speed .....IMO.....the Vikhrs is the best option for enemy aircraft...getting in close and using guns puts you in a lot of danger ....The enemy AI spots you at long range before you can spot and lock them....I consider this a flaw in the AI system, but without more trial and error I wont complain too much....the fact is that the AI seem to always be perfect in the things it does while you must deal with "Task Overload".....I believe setting the AI skill level down a couple notches will help with this, but make no mistake, if an AI with the Expert or Excellent rating spawns in game...he will know you are there at like 12k and fire on you at the longest ranges possible....they have no problem spotting and locking you, where as you must fly, spot, track, lock, and fire to hit him.... Long story short...I wont say the AI is terribly unfair....but yes...they are "terribly good" in helo vs helo engagements and with all the switchology we must do, we are not.....

I dont know how many ppl here really own assault rifles and machine guns....but I will testify to the fact that a M-60(any version, early or late model) will in fact disable and destroy any civilian vehicle....it will cut completely through a modern wood house...on a square hit, it will penetrate the aluminum armor of a APC (there are reports from vietnam vets that an AK-47 can penetrate an APC aluminum armor on a square hit) I would not hide behind anything less then a full inch or more of steel from a M-60...it will get you eventually, and you will die when it does... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhW2UDOpnxA <----M-60 vs car..........p.s. cars have fuel in the back and it runs all the way to the front.....dont stand next to them when on fire or being shot at, they catch fire quicker then a Japanese WW2 airplane .

in the flight sim world....many small updates is better because it lets ppl know you are still alive and working on the sim.........when you wait 2 years before your next update, you lose to many players do to the fact that they get tired of waiting.......At the rate ED is going, even if they dont fix your main bugs, you have this feeling of "Maybe next week"....because you know, that even if there is no update for the game, Wags will usaully give us a verbal update on what the devs are doing No updates=dead flight sim mentality and loss of many clients too many updates= 3 clients that dont like so many damn updates I personally love the fact that ED is working so hard every week....it lets me know they are committed and that I can safely spent my money with such a dedicated company... .

I cant swear to how much the ships will be worked on....but with the upcoming DCS:F-18....I have a feeling that the ships will be looked at as they refine their(DCS Devs) naval operations.... The flight sim community seems to have a deadline in the year 2235.....lucky for us, that means that whatever comes out is usually very good....but the flip side is, no matter what you wish for, you will have to wait, and wait, and wait, and wait... Like I said, once the Hornet arrives, we should see an improvement in navy stuff...rolling decks for carriers and helo landing pads on ships.....and hopefully even naval control on par with Combined Arms...only time...and Wags...will tell.

you have to have DCS:world installed for BS2......DCS world is free, install it second after BS1...then install BS2 after DCS:World....then launch DCS:World.exe (not BS or BS2) and fly the helo by playing DCS:World... DCS:World http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/dcs_world/ .

What would a Russian combat flight be called?
Davis0079 replied to statrekmike's topic in Military and Aviation
.......in Soviet Russia you don't number flights.......flights number you..... -
hitting a target at 2000 meters from a moving platform is considered accurate in every corner of the known world if you want less recoil....go play Ace Combat....

Is there any way to add custom connectors ?
Davis0079 replied to PeterP's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
The next great mod.....A cupholder for all air frames....Comes with one free can of beer -
+1 to vietnam.....i dont know about Afgan....I think an Operation Desert Storm would be fitting for the equipment available if they did a F-4 phantom to match the Mig-21 coming up....then a AH-1 cobra to fly with the huey.....the game would be set.....with upcoming F-18s in the works, the carrier system should improve for some cool 1969 South China Sea action Combine Arms players could play as the VC and NVC trying to over run outposts on the red side and the blue could play artillery fire teams while huey and cobras fly support, F4s from carriers Vs. Migs from N Vietnam. p.s. I thought for sure the AH-1 would be the next 3rd party project from Bel seeings as it basically all huey parts but in a tandem seat frame to make it thinner, faster, and harder to see from the front or back......we already got the rockets on the huey and tow missiles are already in the game (CA) and waiting to be launched from an air frame..

Excellent work.....cant wait to be able to flip through some kneeboard pages....this is almost a basic need for any pilot....only way it can get any better is if you animate an arm holding a crayon for me to take notes on the cockpit glass with..... -
The little white dots
Davis0079 replied to O_Smiladon's topic in Video Corruption and Related Card Issues
the 660gtx is a damn fine card for around $200.....I recommend it to all ATI/AMD users SLI 260gtx did BF3 on medium settings at 35-45 FPS one 660gtx does BF3 on Ultra at 135 FPS unbeatable value for a mid-range card in the 600 series -
Dynamic Campaing mod for DCS
Davis0079 replied to Haukka81's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
back when IL-2 1946 was strong, a guy named Lowengrin made a dynamic campaign generator for it and it work rather well......I dont know the exacts about how he did it....but I can confirm it was the best addon I ever had for 1946..... heres the link to his webpage....maybe it will have some info.... http://www.lowengrin.com/content.php?article.9 with the scripting system DCS has....i think it is possible to have some type of DCG here....even if its in a really raw form....it looks do-able.... -
yeah, its foolish to get too picky with some of the equipment.....like for example, I made a skin for the hueys that were given to the South Vietnamese Army.....but when finished they kept looking like the bottom of the South China Sea.....so i had to compromise a little between what it really looks like and what I wanted to be....so in the end I just painted it green.... :)

western and eastern Europe......not only can you do cold war and include many different nations equipment....but you could also build WW2 stuff for the mustang......they should make it big enough for a little of Britain also I like the Idea of cold war gone hot....1980...the Russians invaded west Germany in a Nato vs. the Warsaw pac the A-10 will get the chance to fly in the theater it was made for, but never happened...same with the tank busting AH-64s (also developed to counter the 100,000 tank russian threat we were so worried about back then) and Ka-50s......Mig vs F15/16s....perfect scenario for all equipment already made or currently in development just my two cents....and I will be needing change back....
