Is T-90's At-11 undetectable by LWS?
Davis0079 replied to dimitriov's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
wired guided has a 10 mile long thin wire that comes out connecting the missile to the launcher......and I have been lead to believe that the early versions where guided by the high powered camera and tv....... the missile was not guided by a laser....the operator just watched it with the tv and steered it left, right,up,down onto target.....the camera has a sensor that sees the missile and changes its course to keep it in line with your sights by sending corrections down the wire.....Tube-launched, Optically-tracked, Wire-guided ....once again my mental image of a real TOW (Tube-launched, Optically-tracked, Wire-guided missile) is the vietnam era equipment ...... I'm sure if you google it you will find some much more advanced systems.... ...the key words here are "Optically Tracked"........no laser used..... -
FC3 options/ COCKPIT LANGUAGE doesn't work
Davis0079 replied to fitness88's topic in Bugs and Problems
from the manual Cockpit Language. If the flown aircraft has advisory messages in both English and Russian, this options allows you to choose which to hear. so...the way I interpret this..."IF" means not all aircraft are build with english bettys.....if the airframe you are flying was never designed to have a multi language betty then you are stuck hearing it in the native language till some one makes a mod for it.... amazing what I can learn from reading the manual once again...I dont own lock on and that line I quoted was from DCS:world user manual....so this may be the second wrong answer for you..... PS just because a moderate move the thread, doesn't make something a bug, it just means they are trying to keep the forums organized.......although you are having a problem, and it is called bugs/problems....not just Bugs.... -
FC3 options/ COCKPIT LANGUAGE doesn't work
Davis0079 replied to fitness88's topic in Bugs and Problems
in the Ka-50 I think that option is referring to the text and labels that are on the buttons and switches in the pit....not the language of the aircrews..... .....I dont own lock-on so i'm not sure if its the same....or if thats really what its for in the first place.....just a shot in the dark..... -
Does DCSW really need more than 4Gb of RAM?
Davis0079 replied to Gloom Demon's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
with trackir, helios, my key mapping program, MSI afterburner, Nvidia control panel, Core temp, fraps and DCS:world (oh yeah and win7ultimate)....I find it very beneficial to have 8 gigs of ram while I play DCS......anything less would be uncivilized..... -

according to the manual it does....I just dont want to argue with the others -
Is T-90's At-11 undetectable by LWS?
Davis0079 replied to dimitriov's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
the vikhrs spins because its fins only deflect one direction....it has to spiral to be able to turn all directions the need for the at-11 to spin is determinded by if the control surfaces (fins) can deflect both right and left, or both up and down...how ever you want to look at it.... the good old super web doesnt have alot of info for my first search.....it doesnt talk about the fin design so I have no idea if it should or should not spin.... .....I do think the Ka-50s LWR should detect the guiding funnel just like it does the vikhrs.....your second warning light should turn on....imo -
Is T-90's At-11 undetectable by LWS?
Davis0079 replied to dimitriov's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
page 6-47 of the Ka-50 flight manual says it can possibly detect both rangefinding laser frequencies and the type used when someone is actively guiding a missile at you.....to the point that it even has two different indicator lamps to show which type is currently hitting you -
Is T-90's At-11 undetectable by LWS?
Davis0079 replied to dimitriov's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
well...there you go....to the best of my knowledge that is in fact a laser guided missile..... ....you need for one of the testers to see this thread and figure out if it needs to be reported as a bug....or if it is working correctly and we dont get a LWR warning.... ....maybe post a link to this thread in the DCS:world bug section / objects error / in hopes that the devs and testers are looking at those threads since 1.25 just came out....a tester names Kuky watches and reports alot of problems for ED from those sections -
Is T-90's At-11 undetectable by LWS?
Davis0079 replied to dimitriov's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I just googled it and the AT-11 is a beam riding system.....means we probably should get a warning I want to say I've noticed it too...but I thought maybe they were shooting tow missiles....wire guided....no lwr warning Are you sure its a AT-11 coming out of the tank gun and not a tow from the launcher on the side of the tank..... -
I was hoping for a cobra or an apache after the release of the huey...I mean hell...isnt the first cobras all huey engine and avionics crammed into a tandem cockpit, instead of a side by side....but I was wrong...no cobra for you....the Mi-8 is a match transport to the huey...but I'm not from the east, so I wanted a match for the Ka-50 .I dont even need a longbow apache....just give me an early model with fire and forget and stingers on the tips like good old gunship2000.... longbow=not needed..... Apache>Ka-50......(opinions may vary, mine is a very Americanized opinion) early AH-1 with tow missles = Ka-50 ........ and fits nice with huey for Vietnam scenarios A Marine cobra would fit with DCS:F/A 18c and DCS: Naval warfare, and hopefuly they make some form of landing craft system...then a cobra is a necessity...with or without an apache...

Dynamic Campaign Discussion Thread
Davis0079 replied to winchesterdelta1's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Are any of you even trying to build a scripting system to make a DC...or just talking and posting about one on the forums...... Furthermore, comparing what you could maybe build with DCS will never be like BMS/F4.....we lack a bubble system.... Look more at how Lowergin did it with IL-2 1946.....by saving who won the mission and having a scripting system build the next advance down the coastline....saving aircraft available.....ect.... -
once the 190 comes out we will most definitely need some bombers...the b-17 and some b-24....even if just AI models....if we ever get a flyable 109 then we need a spit and some early war British bombers for a BoB senario ..a B-29 and a zero would be a good addition after a B-17 and 24....once again, it doesnt even have to be flyable....AI controlled will give the mission builders what they need..... ....the 190 could even get some red friends...A 1945 lagg or mig would open up the need for an IL-2 and a Stuka.....

perhaps you are right

its not a bad habit to turn off the heading hold and alt hold to make sure that your rudder/collective are in the correct position....I agree you should not turn off the pitch and bank which is the cyclic trim...but the rudder trim can be the OP problem it he is not trimmed properly before turning the heading hold on...get the rudder and the collective correctly set then turn on the heading and alt hold... ...I fly around all day without the heading hold or alt hold and never have problems controlling my slip or alt...this is because the rudder is still under control of the trim system even without the heading hold on, and having the collective set correctly so that you don't gain or lose altitude doesn't require the alt hold if you have a collective axis and aren't using the keyboard commands to set it.. ..then when I wish to not "fly the airframe" so that I can use the weapons or look at the map....i turn on the Heading hold (and the turn to target if needed)...and I turn on the alt hold and correctly use the collective brake and never have problems....

trim your airframe into a hover first....then engage the hover system... ..you can even turn it on real quick..see how it wants to hold the helo...turn it off...trim to match that attitude....re engage hover hold..... ....remember...its not a auto hover....its a hover hold...you need to be kinda close to a hover first, then it willl do the fine tuning to hold that position ...the spin problem is obviously the rudder....the best thing here is to turn off the heading hold...trim the rudder so you dont spin...re engage the heading hold....no more spin.... ....the AP can only fight 20% to hold any trim or hover position...if you are 21% out of trim, it cannot hold the correct heading or position.....turn off that AP channel (mainly heading and alt...always leave pitch and bank on) or hover mode...see which way the helo wants to go....trim so your closer to what you want....turn back on the AP channel or hover hold....now you've just put the helo in the right attitude so the AP system isnt fighting as hard to give you the desired results....

Comm menu only works on the ground???
Davis0079 replied to tacannav's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
try the search function....this has been discussed since 1.23.....the comms button has changed....ralt\ is the new command....you can change it back to just \, so you dont have to use a modifier key every time you wish to make a call search function for the win -
aahhh...that sounds about right....knew it was something to do with the trim....I never use FD mode so i guess my mind just thought it was that.... ...there for awhile I thought I was imagining things... .

When will the current map be made to look better?
Davis0079 replied to Dudester22's topic in DCS Wishlist
compared to other "study sims" this map is very nice.....go play BMS for awhile and come back to DCS....you will stop complaining....ED has already said they are working on a new terrain engine that will improve the scenery and many other little problems like tree clipping(hopefully).....the average wait time is "two flight sim weeks"...so hold your breath... comparing DCS to other games is foolish....there is nothing out there besides BMS that can really compare....if its not to the standards you think it should be, you should start your own production company, call ED, get a partnership and start making your own map...otherwise you will need to wait for "Edge", the new graphic/terrain engine that is already in the works I come from IL-2, EnemyEngaged, BMS, and gunship2000....this map and trees looks great compare to them after the release of "Edge"...you will have a whole new group of things to worry about...PC performance will be at the top of the list for most ppl....be careful what you wish for...you get it and you may wish it was back to the good ol' days when you could run the game on a medium pc (remember, what is high end today, is a crap pc tomorrow)..... -

that was suppose to be a joke...

the mention of rudder certainly exaggerated your ability to try to correct ppl....
