  1. DCS World 2 Video: Superbowl Sunday Spitfire https://youtu.be/ZKLj_-w3lH4?t=1s Our Spitfire LF MK IXc lifts off from Jean Airport. We climb out, working our way toward Lake Mead. Near Lake Mead we perform a little aerial acrobatics. We circle Hover Dam, then head to Boulder City & the Boulder City Airport. From there we fly over Henderson, making our way toward McCarren International Airport. Once there, we head North East toward North Las Vegas. Once over the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, we witness a race in progress. We finish things off by landing at Nellis Air Force Base. MJ The two Spitfire skins used in this video were made by the DCS World 2 community member KIZIR_77 & can be found here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/2314691/ The mission used for this video was created by the DCS Team and is the NTTR Cold Start Instant Action mission for the DCS Spitfire, with one modification, the addition of KIZIR_77's Spitfire Skins.

  2. I would really love to see study sim quality bombers added to the DCS World line up. I would love to learn to sim fly planes like the B-24, a B-25, B-17, and B-29. Specifically for the Normandy map and given the fact that players like to stay low and fast, maybe a De Havilland Mosquito B.IV Series II would be a good first bomber? A Mosquito seems like a really fun plane to sim fly. MJ
  3. What you wrote doesn't contradict anything I pointed out, not one bit. The Spitfire is a sitting duck, the proverbial Sopwith Camel from VM. Yeates book, "Winged Victory." That you can use it for bait so your P-51D can get a clean shot off of a distracted Axis sim pilot doesn't change the validity of what I wrote. The Axis rides can determine the terms of the fight against the Spitfire, period. The Spitfire is outclassed. Going on and on about Effective Team Building changes nothing.
  4. A practical decision. Picking the Spitfire, you are just handing the Axis side all the advantages, giving them the luxury of determining when and if the fight starts, how long it goes on for, when it ends. At the end of the day, the P-51 or either of the Axis rides make for much better choices for a competitive multiplayer server. The Spitfire IXc is just outclassed. MJ
  5. The Spitfire LF IXc isn't in the same league as the Axis rides. As long as they stay fast, they are going to be virtually untouchable. The alleged advantage of the Spitfire is as a dogfighter, but given that there is a substantially high likelihood of a blackout, wings ripping off, and/ or engine seizure, while using the Spitfire in a dogfight, the Spitfire isn't that great of a dogifighter, either. I don't know if the blackout, wings ripping, and rapid engine seizure are features or not, but all of that in addition to the substantial relative deficiency in speed, the Spitfire is an overall inferior ride when compared to the P51D and certainly when compared to her rivals, the K4 or D9. MJ
  6. I'm wondering if that is a feature or just a result of the Spitfire being in Beta and lacking a feature? The Spitfire is a fun module for single player, but a frustrating death trap in multiplayer. It is bad enough that the Spitfire is relatively slow, but at the present state of the Spitfire module development, the Spitfire is an outright lousy dogfighter, too. If you get slow in a dogfight, your engine seizes. If you stay fast, you blackout or your wings rip off. Currently, the Mustang is a much better choice in a dogfight, especially better at abruptly changing the direction you are pointing your lift vector line. Still, the Spitfire is still a Beta, so a lot can change between now and final release. For now, I am going to consider the Spitfire a single player ride. The Spitfire isn't a challenge online, it is the DCS Multiplayer reenactment of VM Yeates Winged Victory. The Spitfire is fun to cruise around in, but it is hopelessly outclassed online. If you stay fast in the K4 or D9, you might as well be facing a Sopwith Camel, having the DCS Spitfire as an opponent. The K4 and D9 sim pilots can come and go as they please and even stick around and dogfight, knowing that the Spitfire sim-pilot will almost guaranteed seize his engine, blackout or rip his own wings off. For multiplayer, the P-51 Mustang is the one competitive online Allied module.
  7. Such terrible news. She died so young, too.
  8. +1 And the switch for the electric fuel pump is right under the elevator trim wheel.
  9. Thank you very much, BIGNEWY! :)
  10. So, we can't bind our serial numbers to new accounts anymore, at least I can't. Is there a way that I may consolidate all of my DCS Add-ons on to one account, now? Right now, in order for me to play with the Spitfire, I have to deactivate all of my other modules, activate the Spitfire, restart DCS and log into a new profile. I would like to have all my stuff on one account to avoid this. Thanks for your consideration of my question! :)
  11. Yeah, it will be awesome if the team can meet the December 16th target. I don't want to get my hopes up, because I am assuming the team meant for the December 16th date to be treated like a conditional statement, and not a hard dead line. In other words, it will be out December 16th, assuming everything goes to plan, but everything is still subject to change, including the actual release date. If they do make that date, this will be a Star Wars Rogue One & Spitfire weekend and that would be utterly fantastic! MJ
  12. I really enjoyed the pre-start up and start up tutorial. I really appreciate getting this video, now. I want to know all the basic procedures ahead of time, so come December 16th I can get right into sim-flying the Spitfire. She sure is a beauty. The team did such an amazing job on her. The Normandy map is going to be utterly gorgeous, too. I can't wait to get my grubby mittens on both! MJ
  13. Your model looks great and thank you for undertaking the introduction of Civil aviation mods into DCS. Well, for the NTTR map, I guess I would recommend the addition of some commercial jets such as the Boeing Super MD 80 (S80) & Boeing 737-800. Also, small civil aviation planes, like the Cessna 172.
  14. The Planes of Fame Air Museum owns and operates the only authentic Mitsubishi A6M5 Zeke in the World, out of Chino, California. The team should consider looking into that particular Zero, given that she is probably as close to the real deal as we can get, the team may be able to get detailed performance data on her, the team may be able to give her a very close look over, and the A6M5 is a type of Zero that would be a pretty good match for the F4F-4, F4U-1D, and P40F, etc. MJ
  15. https://youtu.be/gAwitIaPAMQ With the Spitfire aroun the corner, I decided to make a video with one of the main rivals of the Spitfire, the BF-109 K4. I take the K4 to one of the new outstanding airfields just added by the team, as part of the NTTR expansion. The airfield is beautiful, as in the ever improving NTTR map, itself. P.S. Sorry I had my mic too close. :music_whistling: :megalol: I'll sort my mic issues out next time. MJ
  16. The music is fantastic, great choice. MJ
  17. I don't think the team has released a draft of the flight manual for the Spitfire, yet. I can't wait to read the manual, too. It sure would be nice to know some of the normal procedures, like start up, climb out, landing, and shut down, before December 16th. MJ
  18. DCS World 2: Saved by the Bell (Using the P-51D on a DCS World 2 Multiplayer Server):https://youtu.be/I_2wOana_B0 A reminder why P-51D players should turn on their Rear Warning Receiver AN/APS-13 set. During a Thursday night multiplayer match, while I was spacing out for a moment, my Rear Warning Receiver bell rang, alerting me that I was being ambushed from behind. When the warning bell went off, I made a critical mistake. I looked back to see what was going on. I should have immediately maneuvered in such a way as to make myself a hard target and then acquired my attacker. Even with my lapse in judgment, I still had time to react. He pursues me, loses me, and pursues me again, as I play as bait, while two of my team mates and AAA ground batteries attempt to down the K4. I include a video of the entire incident and at 2:55 I include a Tacview of the event to better show what was going on around me. MJ
  19. I hope they develop the Seafire FR.47. It may be more of a early Korean War Warbird, but I would love to see the prop planes of the Korean War of both sides represented in DCS. The FR.47 has a contra-rotating prop, so it would be very unique and a great ride for the early part of the Korean Air War. MJ
  20. The DCS Sky Crawlers: https://youtu.be/1s3eipI4d8Q This is a video from the external view, because it helps to see the move from the outside, too: https://youtu.be/GzZ6_2K4LIc I tried out some low speed defense with the FW 190 D9 today. I had the opportunity to pull a somewhat, 'Wire Fu,' move based on something I saw, 'The Teacher,' pull off with the fictional Skyly J2 in The Sky Crawlers, so I took it. The move involves pulling your plane up and throttling down in such a way (such a way= drop flaps) so that you throw the pursuer out in front of you presenting you with an easy target. This isn't a go to move in multiplayer, since most Human opponents have yereas of experience and won't fall for this, but this is just something fun to do if you get the chance. P.S. You can see, 'The Teacher,' pull off the move that inspired me to try this at one minute and four seconds into this video, here:  MJ
  21. I picked the Mig-17. The Mig-17F is one of my DCS World dream rides.

  24. Glad to be of help! :)
  25. Are you running any cockpit mods? I think I ran into this issue once, while I was using an out of date cockpit mod for the Mustang.
