  1. Isn't it up to the Mirage 2000C's to escort the Viggens? It doesn't have to be alone you know :)
  2. JA-37 has RM-8B engine with a thrust of 125kN. AJ-37 has RM-8A engine. Thrust is 115,6kN. It is slightly lighter than the JA, but not so much that you would notice.
  3. In the case of the Gripen, the order of the letters isn't as relevant as they used to be since it is a true multi-role aircraft where one variant does everything.
  4. Yes and no. The Viggen isn't really multi-role in the full sense of the word. There are variants dedicated to different tasks, and LN is working on the attack variant. It lacks the advanced pulse doppler radar and radar guided missiles that the interceptor variant has. It's radar is made for air to ground operations. The only air to air weapons it carries are sidewinders. The interceptor variant (JA) which we aren't getting had a pulse doppler radar capable of tracking several targets at the same time, with look down shoot down capability. It carried sidewinders and skyflash (similar to AIM-7) missiles, and late variants even carried the AIM-120 AMRAAM.
  5. That's an interesting thought, since both are limited to sidewinders. I do think it will have trouble against the F-5 though. Pretty sure the F-5 is more agile in a dogfight.
  6. The Viggen they are modelling is an attack version. It can only carry sidewinder for self defence. Due to this, I think the MiG-21bis is the better fighter/interceptor. The Viggen we are getting is from the 90's so it's more modern than the MiG-21bis, although the airframe was developed back in the 60's. Performance wise, you should not expect the Viggen to be a great dog-fighter. It's performance (turn rate, rate of climb etc.) is similar to the MiG-21bis as far as I know. Some traits are better, some are worse, but overall they are similar. If you compare the ground attack capabilities the Viggen is superior due to more modern systems, weapons and larger payload capacity.
  7. BMS4.33 has a flyable JA-37D with nice cockpit and flight model, but the AJ is AI only I think.
  8. Haha! That thing is on fire :)
  9. He still gets to do his big announcement, and it wasn't going to be much of a surprise anyway, because most of us already figured it out based on the hints. Looking forward to seeing a nice presentation with screenshots, trailers and everything. This leak changes almost nothing.
  10. Aaah. Reminds me of Jane's F/A-18. :) My bet is still on Gotland/Baltic though.
  11. They are making the attack version of the Viggen, not the interceptor. The Mirage2kC on the other hand is primarily an interceptor, so they are not exactly what I would call adversaries.
  12. There was no announcement. Someone accidentally found an entry in the steam database. Cobra replied "Whoops!" in this thread :) There were three entries. Viggen Corsair Iwo Jima
  13. As far as I know, it was withdrawn after sweden signed the convention on cluster munitions.
  14. Can't wait for some screenshots and trailers. :)
  15. BK 90 cluster bombs. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombkapsel_90
  16. We don't know, so there might still be some surprise, but I'm going to make a guess, and say it's Gotland or some kind of Baltic map.
  17. Who knows. Maybe Leatherneck are just messing with us, employing maskirovka doctrine. Nah, just kidding. I already had strong suspicions of what it was going to be. There's no big surprise here, but that's not to say that there isn't any excitement. Of course I'm friggin excited about these modules! :)
  18. It's getting close to the beta release. I'm sure they are very busy :)
  19. If colour and image quality is what you are after, look for an IPS type monitor.
  20. As a freesync user (MG279Q and 290X), I would say that I wouldn't be able to go back to fixed refresh rate, but with that said, the price premium for g-sync is crazy and doesn't really seem to be worth it in my opinion.
  21. Not a chance. People can't even get DCS running right in VR on 980ti right now. With that said, don't go out and buy new stuff yet. Wait until VR support has matured, because right now it's too hard to say what's going to be needed to get DCS running right in VR. Note: The minimum specs given by Oculus are meant for titles specifically developed for Rift CV1, from the ground up. They don't apply to DCS.
  22. Hahaha, good one :)
  23. I don't think 2.0 will work on your machine. You might want to disable updating so that you can continue using the version you are using now.
  24. As mwd2 said, go into the module manager. Make sure you are logged in, and it will show your modules as "owned". Just click "install" and let it run it's course.
  25. Good find vicx. I hope the devs can put this feedback into good use. Maybe you should post it as a bug report, so we are sure they notice.
