  1. It was written somewhere around here too but I think it got lost in all the noise from all the excitement. I do remember reading it here before facebook though.
  2. Haven't found out how the missiles and radar work yet, but I tried the instant action dogfight mission and killed the MiG-23, MiG-29 and Su-27 with guns on my first try without dying! Woho :)
  3. Yes, of course.
  4. Trying to buy the module but the ED site seem to be under heavy stress and isn't responding. I guess that means there's a lot of interest in this module, which can only be a good thing really :) Edit: Managed to buy it now :)
  5. Awesome Zeus! GMT1500 is actually earlier than I was expecting :)
  6. Nice Viggen Christmas tree formation :) Happy holidays LN.
  7. Thank you Polychop, and merry Christmas :)
  8. I was using these graphs here: http://www.sweclockers.com/test/19925-geforce-gtx-960-fran-asus-gigabyte-och-msi/17#content You probably don't read Swedish, but it's a reliable site. The numbers on those graphs are relative performance in percent after calculating an average from several benchmarks and games. Results vary from game to game. In some, the Nvidia is stronger, and in others the AMD is stronger. First I figured the 380 (missing from the graphs) must be roughly the same as the 280X but after reading a review I realized it's a few percent slower actually. It's still slightly faster than a 960, but not quite 15% as I first said. More like 5-10% I guess. Sorry about that :)
  9. Those 50 bucks would give you about 15% more performance. Is it worth it or not? That's entirely up to you. :)
  10. Just to give people an idea of how much fuel the Su-27 carries: It's fuel capacity is 9400kg The total weight of a loaded JAS-39C Gripen is 8500kg. The Su-27 was designed to be used without external drop tanks, so it carries an enormous amount of internal fuel. Of course it's going to be a bit sluggish if you fill all tanks 100%. It's better to fill it only to the point where it has the same range as the aircraft you are comparing it to.
  11. A vector is the direction of a force. In this case we are talking about the force that is created by the lift of the wings. It goes roughly straight up into the sky if you are flying level with the horizon.
  12. Good. Then you won't have to sit around and wait on the 25th, but you will be flying all day long on 26th :) I have been through this before, and release days consists mostly just of waiting, and then an hour of flying before I have to go to bed. That is in central European time zone.
  13. I think so :) If we are really lucky, we might even be flying within 24 hours!
  14. In the case of the L-39 I think it went away pretty much the exact same moment it was released into open beta. I think the same thing will happen to the Mirage.
  15. Truth is that there are no fresh models on the market right now. The 390X is nothing but a re-branded 290X with more vram and slightly higher clock-speed (no more than an over-clocked 290X). Manufacturers have been stuck with the current models a long time because the manufacturing process that was supposed to replace 28nm failed. It looks like we are finally getting a new manufacturing process at 16nm in 2016 so things are really going to start happening soon.
  16. The old DCS used to favour Nvidia while AMD gave abysmal performance. The new version with the new engine has completely changed the playing field, and both now work on equal terms in DCS. Just be aware that there's currently a bug affecting the AMD 300 series, but on the other hand there's a thread where people have been reporting stuttering on the Nevada map and the majority of those seemed to be Nvidia users. I'm sure all of that will eventually be fixed as 2.0 comes out of beta and graphics drivers improve. Personally I use a R9 290X with excellent results at 2440x1440 resolution and mostly maxed out settings. Even over Las Vegas on the Nevada map it runs perfectly smooth. It does sometimes drop under 60fps but thanks to freesync it's not really that noticeable in my case.
  17. I wonder how that will work in DCS. :music_whistling:
  18. Flagrum: You must do cold start to avoid having the radar turned on upon starting the mission.
  19. There's a problem with the radar on the MiG-21bis which causes the sim to crash when turning the radar on. I guess you are starting in the air so the radar is already on which causes the crash? Try doing a cold start and see if it loads. You should be able to fly as long as you don't turn the radar on. Leatherneck know about the problem and are working on it.
  20. I'm so glad they didn't release yesterday. This way I got to spend some time in the Bf109 K-4 over Nevada yesterday. I realized I haven't done nearly enough of that. Owning all released modules has this side effect that causes you to spend less time on some modules than they really deserve.
  21. I think Wags has noticed our little thread :) http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2605086&postcount=7
  22. Correct :)
  23. Please internal testers, don't tell ED about all the bugs yet. Wait until after open beta release. We don't want them postponing anything now, do we? :)
  24. They used to come out with more precise release dates a few years ago, but it often went horribly wrong, so there's a good reason for not doing it. Also, if you have a problem with giving money for something you don't know the release date of, then simply don't give away your money. Don't be that clueless type of consumer that pre-orders at first opportunity for basically no reason.
  25. The pots are easy to fix. I take them out and clean them once every year or so and they always end up working perfectly afterwards. Good as new. The gimbals are another problem, and much harder to fix. I have huge center play in my old Cougar due to worn gimbals but I have decided to just live with it for the time being.
