  1. Great Job, John. Very helpful!
  2. Title says it, these commands are standard "Cheats" in DCS. AutoStart gets the aircraft to the point it is ready to taxi. Autostop provides a complete shutdown sequence. Autostart and Autostop (Control + Home, and Control + End) should be mapped to Joystick along with Keyboard. Thanks
  3. I guess I'm old school. I have the three versions of DCS, i.e., Stable, BETA and Alpha NTTR 2.0, as separate installs on one of my SATA 3 7200rpm HDD's. I run the DCS Updater for each install from the Start menu. I've never had a problem updating or "selecting" each version. SSD? Running from the SATA HDD, I get frame rates above 45 on all three versions. That's with an I7 6700K, 32gb ram and a GTX 1070. And no worries regarding SSD capacity or maintenance. I can remember when LNS was concerned about providing a copy of the MIG 21BIS for the BETA version of DCS. I recall the beta copy of the MIG was counted as an authorized copy against the maximum copy of 10. My, have times changed. I'm ready for the 27th. I'll just update my BETA copy, jump in the Viggen and try to learn Swedish. :joystick:
  4. I had no problem installing through Module Manager after it prompted me for the install. I assume you bought the Gazelle and the serial key code is listed in the order summary in your account. Check your profile and if the order or key code is amiss then get ahold of DCS Support. I've got the Gazelle installed in 1.5.5, OpenBETA and OpenAlpha, all of which installed by Module Manager.
  5. I have the same problem. I tried to assign a joystick button to the C-101 keyboard commands and when it's assigned, only the first page of the kneeboard will display. You cannot advance the pages of the kneeboard, either forward or backward. This problem does not exist for any other aircraft. I can assign joystick buttons to any kneeboard command and they work fine. The stock keyboard commands work fine for the kneeboard. The problem only exists when you try to assign a joystick command to the stock keyboard command.
  6. Many thanks. Video was excellent.
  7. OK, off to practice. Thanks again for the help.
  8. Apparently Win 10 converts a .trk file extension to .zip. I guess the file extension definitions need work. Anyhow, I restored the .trk file extension and the track played fine. Good job on the landing. Question, did you use Trim while on the circuit and/or while landing? Thanks
  9. Yurgon, I unzipped your track and I got a folder with track info but no .TRK to play in the sim. Can you repost just the .trk ? Thanks
  10. Yurgon, Thanks, I'll take a look at your track in the am. I saw the same as you when I tried Rotorheads track. Flagbum, I have a Thrust master Warthog horas. No curves or otherwise sensitivity adjustments but I do have a 4 inch extension on the joystick.
  11. Thanks, I land the Huey the same as you but perhaps using the Vertical Speed Instrument to control descent. VRS is a killer in the Huey and I am not always successful in avoiding it. I don't know how you recorded the video but it paused every 5 seconds or so (buffering?) when I played it back. I agree that VRS is missing or very much subdued in the Gazelle. My biggest problem landing the Gazelle is the approach and transition to hoover then landing. I decrease torque to lose altitude. I pull back on the cyclic to slow. I'm trying to execute a slow forward approach to a hover. When I get app 10-15 feet off the ground, the Gazelle falls off or reverses, gaining speed as it does so. At that point, all bets are off for a good landing and I'm chasing the damn thing all around the sky trying to stabilize. What I'd like to be able to do is approach the landing spot while losing altitude, put on the "brakes", enter a hover and land. Sounds simple. I can Hover/Taxi the Gazelle, not well but I can do it. I have yet to figure out how to get in that state from altitude. Any help would be appreciated.
  12. Wasn't asking for a lesson(s), just some help. Post the tracks if you have time. Thanks
  13. LOL, I watched the track and you crashed on take-off. We've had all kinds of problems with Tracks being screwed up of late and I hope that's what's happened to your track. If it is, then video is probably the best bet. I did notice that your Gazelle was sporting a Marine livery. Given my knowledge of Marine coptor pilots, I understand now the takeoff problem. :pilotfly:
  14. Yeah, I tend towards the military take off wherein I'm accelerating and climbing right off the mark. I need to work on the hover then forward/climb variety. I'll check out your track. If you are able, try to do a video with voice explaining your "moves". Thanks again.
  15. Thanks. I've read your posts here and I'll look forward to your video. Strange, I don't have the same problem with the UH-1 or the MI-8. I'm not great at either but I can land and walk away. I think the difference is that in those cases the vendor (DCS and Belsimtek) produced excellent "how to" videos and posted those here. They were very helpful and shortened the learning curve.
  16. Hi, After umpteen attempts I just can't get the hang at landing the Gazelle. I get close then I either slip backward and/or to the side and wind up a smoking hole in the ground. Request: Can one of you Gazelle jockeys record a video or track with Controls Indicator ON and verbal instructions (if a video), showing me what you do to land the Gazelle? The videos I've found on You Tube lack either control indication and/or voice instruction and therefore are not that helpful. I'd really appreciate it as would my dog who typically receives my wrath after my hole in the ground landing attempt. Thanks
  17. I have not checked the Fuel Pressure during AUTOSTART but with the edited Macro file mentioned above, my engine will start. Fuel pressure must be OK then. The AUTOSTART routine pumps the Fuel pump prior to engaging the starter.
  18. Confused.. I have not touched the throttle when using Autostart. Are you referring to the Autostart (LWIN + Home) command?
  19. Until ED provides a fix, I edited the "macro.sequences" LUA file and added effectively 3 more seconds of starter (clutch) application and 5 seconds overall to the Autostart macro. Seemed to do the trick. AUTOSTART is now functional for the K4 in the stable and BETA releases. Shame ED changes these files and does not fully test the change. If anyone wants the edited file, post here and I'll post the file for download.
  20. Hi Squirrel, Yes, I believe that is the problem. Also, in the 1.5.5 changelog there is mention of Autostart being modified to allow start regardless of radio communication, whatever that means. I compared the "macro.sequences.lua" files for the 1.5.5 vs. the 2.0.4 K4's and there are differences but I'm not an lua programmer and therefore am not sure what the differences mean. Thanks for the response.
  21. Hi, Tried the Autostart command after the update today (12-28-16) and the engine would not start in the K4. Command runs as evidenced by the commands listed in the chat window, "run starter" command given, prop rotates but engine does not start. Problem is in the Stable and Beta releases. Autostart functions without problem in the NTTR Alpha release. Edit: Looking through the forum, it appears that Update 2 to 1.5.5 (12-2-16) may have adjusted the Autostart LUA file. Also, I saw several posts regarding the K4 being hard to cold start after that update. The Script LUA file in my DCS Stable installation has 12-16-16 as the modified date.
  22. +1. The most important feedback the developer receives is from the customer, not "RL Pilots".
  23. Mod is JSGME ready. Do you use JSGME?
  24. I played with the Magnetic Brake when I flew last and understand now how it works. What is most confusing is the apparent interchangeable use of the terms Trim and Magnetic Brake. I also fly the MI-8, Huey and KA-50, all of which use the term "Trim" for what is in the Gazelle "Magnetic Brake". The Gazelle is the only bird of that has two "Trim" systems. Tends to confuse the novice. Anyhow, appreciate your help.
  25. Thanks but I read that entire thread and I'm confused to say the least. I'm going to search for a video on Magnetic Brake operation with a spring centered joystick. I doubt if I find one but thanks again for your help.
