Hi, Been awhile since I've flown the Sabre and I noticed a problem. At low altitude and above app. 550 knots, the plane rolls left without control input. The roll can be corrected with trim but is strong enough to require significant trim or stick input to correct. I noticed this both in DCS 2.1 and 1.5. I fly with a Warthog, no curves or dead spots configured. I don't recall this behavior but as I said it's been a while since flying the F-86. All flights have been off-line. The high speed non-induced roll is certainly a bummer in a dogfight. Has anyone else noticed this? Thanks.

Congratulations. The P-51 is a handfull to learn and there's no sub for practice and proper procedure as you now know. Keep at it and you'll get there.

Yes, it's a cross wind and it can be changed in the Mission Editor to zero or whatever value you want and from whatever direction. Open the mission in the ME and click on the "Weather" button on the left side tool bar. you'll see wind velocity and direction for three elevations on the Weather block that opens in the left.. I believe they are 20M, 2000M and 8000M. You should see 4m/sec for the 20M entry. Change that to 1M/sec. You open the ME from the menu on the right side of the main splash screen. When it opens, you'll see the NTTR map. There is a tool bar on top. The leftmost button is Open. That will give you a menu (directory) that depicts the missions. The P-51D entry is on the left side. highlight that and in the right pane will be a directory. Select "Quickstart" and the p-51D Landing mission. That will load the mission. Problems, read the manual under Docs in the DCS World Alpha directory. Edit: I just looked at the mission that BIGNEWEY posted here for you and it has zero wind. So, if your drifting right on your approach in that mission, it's because your not correcting for torque taking the plane to the right.

I can't offer you any tips because I'm totally confused regarding the problem your having and "what you're thinking about doing". If the repair didn't solve whatever it is, then I'm at a loss. Big stick is delete the installation and reinstall. Edit: I went back and looked at your original post and the screenshots. The Map is not moving. Your plane is drifting right. You need to continually trim and correct the line of flight of a prop plane as you decrease speed. Look at the landing tutorials posted here and on U-tube. It looks to me that there is a cross wind or quartering wind that is taking you off course. All it takes is a mild wind to do that. I looked at the landing mission in the ME and there is a 4M/second wind blowing to the East 20M above ground level. That's more than enough to cause your plane to drift to the right at low power settings and at low altitude. The TF-51 is the same animal in this respect. No mystery, wind is causing you to drift to the right and off line from the runway. The earth is not moving.

Well that's a long shot but if you want to repair the DCS Alpha NTTR copy, just go the your start menu, all apps, Eagle Dynamics, and select/run "Repair DCS World 2 OpenAlpha". The installation will detect whatever files have been altered from "stock" and download/replace them. Just curious, what graphics enhancer did you install?

BIGNEWEY + Chuck, I was able to play the track and take control and land successfully. I did this without the "Sync controls with HOTAS" enabled, my normal setting has this disabled. Chuck, until you supply a control input such as throttle, gear down, etc., the plane will just drift to the right (due to torque I guess) and nose into the ground. You need to provide some kind of control input before you "lose" the plane. Again, with no control input, the plane would "appear" to drift to the right of the line to the runway. Are you sure you have the control axis set correctly? Can you control the plane at all (throttle, pitch, roll, etc?) I don't know what to tell you other than check your control settings, particularly the axis settings, and let us know.

Skulleader's P-51D cockpit v1.0
jjohnson241 replied to Skulleader's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Thanks Skulleader, I tried to upload a JSGME ready version using a WinRAR archive but the site would not let me attach, something about missing a security check on the archive. Seven zip wouldn't work either. Bummer. You may want to create a JSGME ready version and upload it to your dropbox. The link in your sig returns a 404 error. -
Check the date of the original post, almost 2 1/2 years ago. I have no idea what version of DCS was around then. Suggestion, always check the date of posts here and never assume the target DCS version unless so stated in the post/mod.

Autostart/Autostop Commands added 3-18-16 to 1.5.3
jjohnson241 replied to jjohnson241's topic in DCS: C-101 AvioJet
Thanks for the temporary LUA. Yes, I was referring to all clickable commands being mapped to joystick. That request is as old as the C-101 in DCS. I understand there may be more important work but that's been the response for what seems like an eternity. Please blow the dust off that to-do item. Anyhow, thanks for the response. -
Thanks for the addition of the Autostart/Autostop commands. Now if you would, please add the key mappings to the joystick and/or throttle LUA. ED has these "cheats" mapped to the keyboard and to all controllers as a standard. I just finished the same request to the Hawk developer and they implemented the request. There are many in the community that map all keyboard commands to controllers of all types. I also requested several times that all key commands be capable of being mapped to controllers and you have agreed with that request, albeit not implemented to date. Please acknowledge this request and let us know when it will be implemented. Thanks.

DCS: F-86F Official Interactive Training Missions
jjohnson241 replied to derelor's topic in DCS: F-86F Sabre
For those who may need it, attached is the F-86F Training folder that contains the 6 training missions and the complete LUA "Training" description. Replaces the Training folder at Mods/Aircraft/F-86/Missions/EN. Note that the path given is the location necessary for the missions to appear in the "training" main menu selection. Training.rar -
No freezes here, flying off-line. Core I7 @4.0ghz, 16GB RAM, GTX 970, Win 10 Home

Well I guess but the INS would only be initialized during the start sequence and I don't think there is a dependency subsequently on the INS in the start sequence. Autostart sequence could be modified when INS is implemented. No matter when, it's more important to me at least that the commands be implemented. Thanks.

Reviewing the pending update and fixes post and I noticed that addition of key commands for Autostart and Autostop (LWIN+Home and LWIN+End) are missing. Any plan to implement those, ideally with the ability to map the commands to the joystick or throttle? Thanks.

Most of my rides were in CH-34's or CH-46's but I did have a ride or two in the UH-1H. We thought of the Huey as a sports car. In Vietnam, most were flown by W1's who flew I'm convinced having a death wish. They would lay that bird over on its side in a "wing over" into a hot LZ, stop on a dime, over and over again. The Wop Wop Wop that announced the arrival of a Huey is a sound that I'll never forget. Thanks for this mod. It put me in country once more.

MIG 15BIS Out of BETA in 1.5.3 Update 3-11-16?
jjohnson241 replied to jjohnson241's topic in Bugs and Problems
I understand that but the "News" did not mention the update to be to the BETA release. That generated confusion. That's the only point I'm trying to make. Never mind. -
MIG 15BIS Out of BETA in 1.5.3 Update 3-11-16?
jjohnson241 replied to jjohnson241's topic in Bugs and Problems
Well it's confusing, at best. The Weekend News release made no mention of Beta, just that "today we are releasing and update to 1.5.3....." I understand it's the Beta release but perhaps some feedback to the those who word the Weekend News that clarity is priceless would be in order. -
MIG 15BIS Out of BETA in 1.5.3 Update 3-11-16?
jjohnson241 replied to jjohnson241's topic in Bugs and Problems
How about the final version of the MIG; did that make it into the 1.5.3 BETA? -
The Weekend News published 3-11 included the announcement that the Mig-15BIS is now released in final version and available for purchase on the DCS Store. The 1.5.3 update to the BETA release on 3-11-16 still shows the Mig-15 ICON on the opening splash screen as "BETA". Did the final version of the MIG make it to the 1.5.3 Beta and if so will the ICON be changed in the pending 1.5.3 public release? Thanks

Worn out F86 cockpit (WIP)
jjohnson241 replied to Mizzy's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Mizzy, Good start but long way to go if the objective is "Bare Metal", etc. Aside from the heel scuffs (which look good), the cockpit frame, switches, etc., still look relatively untouched by human hands and by weathering otherwise. There are other F-86 Worn Cockpit mods on the User Files. Check them out if you have not already. -

[FIXED] "Make HTML" no longer works for F-86F Sim
jjohnson241 replied to Diplocaulus's topic in Bugs and Problems
+1. I get the same result when Make HTML is pushed in Options - Controls. Edit: Other modules from this vendor appear OK, HTML control list is generated. -
I have no problems with the Sabre after update to 1.5.3, either in the Release of BETA versions. Need a little more Info to help: What mission are you flying and are you sure your are the "player" in the mission. If missions look ok, did you try a repair?
