[REPORTED]parked F18s cutting frames by half in VR
FoxDelta replied to FoxDelta's topic in Game Performance Bugs
not for me, it was like that at the beginning of the F18era but a lot better for months. i am flying this mission as it is at least every 2 weeks on mondays so i would have noticed that maybe any kind of regression or unintended rollback. -
see two missions attached , one mission stennis with F18s one without and a tarawa with cobras and harriers on. observation: since the OB update that introduced the TPOD for the F18, or the update befor, iam getting just half the frames when coming close to the stennis in my standard F18/F14/Av8 flight training mission, compared to before please check mission 1 without the "test" in its name flying F18 ,F18s parked on the deck , doing a touch and go frames drop from min 30 to 15 from short final till passed the carrier. trz a touch and go on the tarawa with lots of AV8s and Cobras NO FRAME DROP and remaining at 30fpsplus. mission2 (with test in its name) flying F18, doing touch and go on the carrier with seahawks and other A/C BUT without F18s. constantly 30fps plus , NO FRAME DROPS looks like static F18s are causing massive frame drops, at least for me, despite other static A/C do not!!! THX for checking VR , vlave index, 1080ti, most settings on medium, PD in DCS at 1.0, steamVR 140% CBG_Template.miz CBG_Templatetest.miz

PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller
FoxDelta replied to MilesD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
just a sidenote, pressing the spacebar (as any key) did close the firmware update window for me without updating. forgot to mention it here because using enter/return worked then. so u may try other keys!- 3385 replies

could be an usb power issue a. if some keys or buttons are still working in DCS. being outside of DCS would stop all peripherals in DCS, the joystick axis as well. try disconnecting unused usb peripherals or try a powered usb hub! just an idea- 3385 replies

PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller
FoxDelta replied to MilesD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
without edge calibration (and my monitor/rift configuration) it was very exhausting to keep the head steady enough while interacting, after doing EC it got so much easier, now i am changing switches, frqs and so on while low level or in the break intuitivly. i know, its suggested to start without, but u wont get a good experience without doing it . PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller
FoxDelta replied to MilesD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
yes it is,haven t found out how to deactivate that, all the hints i found at the WWW didn t work. but i am still on it But PCtrl is working perfectly, calibrated in windowed mode for me, no issues at all since u implemented the vertical calibration just a sidemark: u should think about offering Pctrl with two LEFT FCUs, as im using it extensivly i now, despite being a righty and had have my mouse on the right till yet, i am using nearly 100percent only the left one remaining the right hand at the flightstick.- 3385 replies

PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller
FoxDelta replied to MilesD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
my case was very special for still unknown reasons, so don t take this as standard, but interestingly i already calibrated mine in windowed mode. fullscreen didnt work for me (i really tried that often enough without success, when i had the issues with the new firmware) works like a charm since Miles integrated the vertical calibration into the firmware. at least for me and with the reset function u are always able to go back to the standard calibration- 3385 replies

to 1a sometimes a bit different, but for most knobs just press and hold button 1/2 and moving your hand up/down or left/right turns the knob to1b mousewheel function is implemented and ADF knob and F18 wing fold are working, u will have to read the pointctrl manual to understand how this function works. button 3 is the wheel and the other buttons are for the change of direction, when u change the direction remember not to do that while having the cursor over a switch or knob to 2. sorry havent yet tried- 3385 replies

after a full week of using pointctrl i have to say: its a complete game changer for me, never touching my mouse or cougar mfds again while in VR, ED should really have a look at MilesD s fantastic invention. Its the first time i get a fully immersive VR experience in DCS. when calibrated accordingly its mindblowing. all my friends are blown away how well pointctrl works. Thank you for this absolutely stunning product u are giving the DCS community Miles!!!!- 3385 replies

PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller
FoxDelta replied to MilesD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
thx miles, u made it particulary the procedure to calibrate into the lower left corner was very helpful, in combination with the new vertical FOV calibration mode i was able to do an initial calibration there and further improve it thereafter in VR EDGE calibration was doable for all 3 sectors as well. its perfect now hopefully we saved some time for others, especially doing screenshots with the end-resolution when in VR thereselves might be useful for others with multimonitor or similar, or my issue, to do an intial calibration at the right place while in 2D many thx again for all your work and especially helping:helpsmilie: me:thumbup: to all others, POINTctrl is a fantastic product and bringing direct cockpit interaction to a completly new level, every DCS-VR user should have one, its sooooo much of an improvement to be able to switch or turn knobs or pressing buttons( its accurate enough to use it for the DDIs/MPCDs) with any hand- 3385 replies

ok miles, yes before the fw update it wasn t an issue. i already tried to calibrate in fullscreen, but without seeing the cursors its kinda difficult. i already thought that the "desktop extended," could be a cause but switching to DUPLICATE didn t cure it either- 3385 replies

on the monitor i just see the lowerleft part of the screenshot, as everyone else in VR i guess, but when i printscreen a picture like this screenshot comes up (i have to have the CV1 active to get those extended screenshots).- 3385 replies

PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller
FoxDelta replied to MilesD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
hi Miles , sorry i didn tfind the image attachment function in the PMs so i post the screenshot here, as mentioned after calibration the menu is centered in regard to left/right but for some reasons i doesn t get centered in height the result is a flattened menu at the top of the screen, the circle is drawn as oszillating line in fullscreen: if i reset and then try to recalibrate i never see the cursor in my rift/screen so i have to recalibrate in windowed mode where the "menu height centering isn t working hoping this picture helps btw when trying edge calibration i never get my cursor into the upper half for calibration there for me it looks like a mix up of the old calibration with the new split one. the lower half is calibratable but then cursor ends much lower than initially calibrated. looks like there is only the lower half available at all. hmmm- 3385 replies
